This is my go-to place for sub sandwiches. Always crowded at lunch time and it’s easy to understand why: delicious hot subs and a Coke Freestyle machine which I LOVE! Vanilla Coke is the nectar of the gods imo. We get Firehouse 2 – 3 nights a week in October, as our whole family works in the local haunted attraction, Gates of Misery on Chatillon Drive near the Braves Stadium. Firehouse has so many choices, I get a different sub each time. Hubby tends to stick with the Brisket. The parking situation is a mess, though. I usually drive one of the two larger than average vehicles my family owns, and this lot was not made for them. I have begun parking around back in that shady motels front lot(the lot without the YOUWILLBETOWED signs) Its a bit of a walk, but i’d rather walk than have to eat a sub from subway. Firehouse is worth the trouble!

Love the food. My favorite place for this type of food. Service is always great, always greeted with a smile. Beverage selection is one of the largest I have seen. Food items are always fresh and very tasty. Best in town for subs.

The food at Firehouse Subs is great– the meats there seem like a higher quality than Subway. I like the Hook and Ladder so much I admit I never order anything else. I have played the«Give me a bite of yours’ though with family, and everything I’ve tried has been very nice. If you look at the meats– they LOOK like meat should, not spongy, if you know what I mean. Think, not quite Boarhead quality, but a whole lot better than Oscar Meyer. If you have a special request, they are good to honor it. Service is always quick, and it is a very clean establishment. They have tables to sit at, but it isn’t a very large place. The tables are cute and practical but not the seats are made for small and average size bottoms, unlike mine, but it’s still fine. Just not a place I’d want to linger after I ate. I don’t think it would be a good place to meet with a large group either, the dining room is L-shaped so tables would not go together anywhere.

Steak and cheese is dry, unflavorful, and has very little cheese. Hook and ladder is fair. Best thing here is the cherry lime aid drink but they have big ice chunks. Boo.

Pretty much the main reason why I will never eat at Subway again — why settle for less when you can get something here that Subway lacks? FLAVOR. We’ve never had a bad sandwich here, nice staff and the meatball subs are incredible. I’ve been there when it was moderately crowded and dad empty. It appears that most people order take away.

I couldn’t help but giggle at all of the wonderful reviews for Firehouse Subs! I’m in concordance that this is a very original little sub shoppe in Rome, and I have never been disappointed in the quality or service which I have received here. My hubby and I have been here a couple of times, and we have never left hungry or unsatisfied. My hubby always orders the steak sub and smothers it in multiple hot sauces(which Firehouse subs is not lacking at all). I usually try the salami or italian-style subs. After ordering, one can make his/her way to an INSANE selection of hot sauces, ranging from 1 – 10 on a condensed scoville scale. I usually stick to 1 – 3, while my husband chooses 8 – 10. Additionally, the staff is always really helpful! But why is this place always so empty when I visit? Maybe my stomach has a different schedule than the rest of the world?

I agree with the previous reviewer, that I no longer want subs from Subway or Quiznoes(however it’s spelled) after eating at Firehouse Subs. I also like how it supports fire fighters. Though I haven’t bought one yet, you can pay a dollar for a bucket that was used for the pickles, I don’t know what it looks like but I’ve been meaning to get one because 100% of the proceeds go to fire fighters. There is a rather long row of hot sauces to choose from on the counter if you want any. The people who work here are also nice.
