Goodness, why is Asian style jerky so expensive? I bought a ½ lb of the spicy pork to give to family and it was almost $ 15? You could sample all the flavors before making a decision so don’t worry about that. The lady behind the counter was super nice and patient. She also had great eyebrows, which I’ve concluded that everyone in CA has that. While she was taking our orders, I saw fresh jerky being made as well. We were there for 20 minutes and I saw 4 other ppl buying some. Apparently they have store online on amazon which is what my cousin’s been doing since we live in TX. I’m not a big jerky person bc normal jerky is tough and I’m not a fan of that but this type of jerky is like eating meat. It makes me want to use it in banh mi, it’s so tasty!

Finally a place to buy authentic Chinese Pork/beef jerky without trying to sneak it in on a flight from asia. If you have never had Chinese Bak Kwa or smoked and flame grilled thinly sliced jerky you are really missing out. This type of jerky is not the same as the regular American beef jerky that is dried out and usually difficult to tear apart. This type of jerky has a sweet, smokey, and juicy flavor that just explodes when exposed to your taste buds and is easily consumed with very little effort. Just like any jerky it’s not cheap but this is really worth the premium prices. The jerky is sold by weight and they give you samples if you are curious about the flavor. You can even order from their online store so don’t miss out.

Soooo excited that I found Singapore style jerky in LA. I live nowhere near here, but it was totally worth the long drive. Delicious, authentic, amazing. The tender pork jerky tastes like unicorn(I assume).

Pork and beef jerky are selling for $ 24.8 /lb and taste really good. This place sits next to HP phở which is also a must try. They close really early around 7:30pm or it is a 5 star.

100th review of 2015! woot woot. I made it down the line… but this isn’t about me. It’s about Fragrant Jerky. Oh delicious goodness! Why did it take me this long to discover you!!! Bacon jerky. The two words you need to know. We also like the pork jerky(both the spicy and regular) and beef jerky(peppered and original). Their jerky is tender, sweet, and seriously flavorful. If that sounds like what you like, don’t hesitate to go. The workers there are super helpful, and if you need separate packing(for gifts, etc), they don’t mind providing that to you. They have samples to try if you have never been there. AND seriously, try everything. You can’t resist. Reasonably priced per pound. AND if you want the jerky warmed, heat it up(10 seconds in the microwave) and enjoy if you were eating it freshly made! Because it was freshly made… They also ship. Shares a lot with McDonalds(on the corner of Rosemead and Mission) and HP Phở Ga Bac Ninh. Enjoy!

Fragrant Jerky is worth the drive. Jerky Heaven! I arrived as soon as they opened(which I found out is a little too early because everything is stilled being grilled and cooked). The sales lady/cook was very friendly and accommodating with sample requests from me. I was buying multiples and she was patient in separating everything into individual zip pouches and labeled each one accordingly. The black pepper beef was a major favorite but the pork tastes like candy, so good.(I was told that bacon and other options are available towards the afternoon.) For anyone that is paleo this is a great gift idea.

On a brisk Tuesday evening here in Los Angeles, I Randomly stumbled across this shop, on my way to get some chicken phở. Walked in, and was greeted immediately. We were offered samples and instantly we were hooked by the spicy bacon and peppered beef. The peppered beef was juicy and well marinated, 9 out of 10. But however none of these other jerkys can compared to the spicy bacon, game changer. Holy shit this place is , I will never look at jerky the same way again…

So I was reading the Unilocal reviews on this place and I couldn’t resist myself and had to go check it out. I’m a big fan of tender juicy pork jerky and the stuff from the supermarket just isn’t as good anymore. So I decided to come here and they were nice enough to let me try a couple of things. I asked the lady if the beef or the pork is better and she told me the pork is their most popular items. The lady was very friendly and polite throughout my visit and it was a very quick visit. I asked the also asked about storing instructions and she advises to store in room temperature for one week or it can last up to three months if it is refrigerated. She also told me there is reheating instructions on the bag. The bag has more detailed information which is very helpful. I tried the original bacon and the tender pork. I really like the bacon because it had a good sweet flavor and wasn’t extremely dry. The tender pork had good flavor as well but was a little bit more meaty so I didn’t get that this time. I ended up purchasing the original bacon and the spicy bacon for my family to try. I tried a little piece of the spicy bacon and it was a bit spicy for my taste but it didn’t burn too much where my mouth was numb or anything. Both of the bacon jerky were $ 27.80 a pound and I got a half pound of each. This stuff is definitely addicting if you love bacon and sweet jerky. I kept eating one after another, every time I resealed the bag I would have to open it and close it again for another piece(this happened about five times within 15 minutes). It’s definitely good, you can tell it’s a bit greasy-it is bacon after all but it’s just so delicious.

Fragrant Jerky is the best Asian-style jerky that you can find in SoCal. I can say that confidently after trialing Champion and Prime Cut. Keep in mind that this is not the same as the beef jerky places in NYC’s Chinatown, but Fragrant Jerky holds its own with a thickly sliced, moist charred beef or pork jerky. The sweet bbq glaze is perfection. The beef jerky tastes SOGOOD when it’s warm and fresh. I showed up at opening time, purchased a pound right out of the grill, and it tasted incredible! My family loved it too. In fact, I ended up ordering more from their website since I live out of town. However, the product I got in the mail was not even close. My brother said that there was a strong scent in the meat like it wasn’t cleaned well. I didn’t really get that, but the taste was off. You just need to go to the store and get the real stuff there.

My hubby is crazy about jerky. He will look at Jerky when we go to shopping, trade shows, and specialty stores. I thought, I was Unilocal master at home until my hubby went on a jerky rampage. He looked on Unilocal and found this little place. We are not from the LA area and he’s wanted to come here since last year when he showed to me and told me to bookmark it. This little place is located inside a small strip mall. A parking lot will accommodate your parking needs. This is a no thrills type of place, a counter show casing the jerky, small seating area and register to pay for your goods. In the back is a small kitchen where you can see someone grilling pork or beef. When we came in the lady behind the counter let us sample some of the jerky. I liked the pork jerky the best. It is served warm, it’s a bit sweet, and tender. She packaged the jerky in self sealing bags then sealed until ready to be eaten.

I am so happy to find a place selling bakwa in Rosemead. Actually, Los Angeles in general. This place is in the same plaza as Quickly’s, just a 3 minute walk from Rosemead High School. I’ve missed this delicious sweet and spicy pork jerky that’s freshly grilled from Hong Kong. My favorite is the nonspicy pork bacon. Price is a little steep, but keep in mind that this is fresh, chargrilled jerky. Not the packaged year old supermarket stuff. Expect to pay $ 10 for a ¼ lb bag.

Definitely hit the spot! I am a huge fan of jerky, but only Asian style jerky. Every time I go to Hong Kong or Singapore I over indulge in the stuff. Anyway I had a craving after my 3 year old nephew, who is back home in Scotland, told me that he asked my mum who has just gone to Hong Kong to bring him back some pork jerky! I looked up on Unilocal and this place had the best reviews and wasn’t too far away. It’s quite easy to miss this spot, they could do with a better sign. The shop front is simple but clean. There were no other customers when we went in around lunch time. We tried the original pork and pork/bacon and enjoyed them both so ended up buying a pound each! The lady was very friendly and helpful. Yes it is a little pricey, but of course you have to factor in the cost of the meat and workmanship involved(Ive made jerky at home before, not as good as the professionally made ones but it’s decent but does take time and skill!) The pork/bacon jerky is very sweet and juicy. I also like how everything is made fresh, small batches at a time, so the jerky isn’t just sitting there all day long. We’ll definitely be visiting again in the future!

3.5 stars. but hear me out! I originally thought that everything was slightly bland and just not as flavorful as the other Asian jerkies I find(to this day I still love the pork jerky I get from Bin Bin Konjac the best: X) HOWEVER, I still bought a few bags because I was really craving it, and I do like the melt-in-your-mouth texture of the thicker cut pork jerky. Now after munching on it in the car, I began to realize that I couldn’t stop eating… and eating… and eating!!! Although the flavor isn’t insane and popping in your mouth, it’s subtle enough to keep your taste buds wanting more… needless to say, I gobbled up everything I bought within a day or two, so this place definitely deserves a 4 star on the ranking! Light enough that you won’t get sick of the flavor… very deadly indeed.

Friendly, helpful service and THEBEST jerky! I can only comment on the original pork, spicy original pork and spicy bacon. All are delicious. Perfect balance of sweet, salty, spicy and charbroiled smokiness. Consume them warm. However I found that the flavors intensify as the jerky comes to room temperature. At room temperature, the texture and flavor becomes a true jerky. The fat on the bacon jerky becomes opaque at room temp. So be forewarned that it may not look as appealing as it did when it was warm. I look forward to trying the beef varieties. Approx.$ 27.00/lb. Seems expensive at first. But I soon realized it’s well worth it for a quality pork jerky.

overpriced and good as if I’m in Singapore meat so tasty-laaaah! For those of you that don’t know about bakkwa(rou gan in Mandarin), it’s a traditional snack found in the streets of Singapore. Imagine a thin slice of beef or pork that’s been marinated in honey and(sometimes) spices, grilled up and placed in a baggie for you to snack on. Since it’s not as dry as jerky, it’s easy to chew, and great to snack on. Think of a product that’s halfway between a beef sandwich slice and beef jerky, and you have bakkwa. Traditional bakkwa has a few preservatives and can last a few weeks without refrigeration. This spot refuses to use preservatives, so their bakkwa last a few days unrefrigerated, or maybe a week refrigerated. If you’re undecided, the staff here is more than willing to explain anything to you and cut off tiny squares of bakkwa for you to try. Which is both a blessing and a curse. If you’re in the front of the line it’s great, since you never feel rushed and the staff is SUPER nice and helpful. But if you’re waiting in line, it can be quite a pain unless you’re willing to be pushy. Thankfully, this was my last stop of the day, so I wasn’t in a rush. I was personally drawn towards the spicy bacon and pork, but the black pepper beef was pretty solid as well. They only grill up 1 – 2 pounds of bakkwa at a time to ensure it’s fresh, and you can always ask them to grill you some fresh bakkwa if you’re going to eat it right then and there. It always tastes better when it’s piping hot than when it’s merely warm. They made us some spicy pork bakkwa. It’s a good thing that bakkwa is painfully expensive for what you get, since I could easily finish a half a pound in a single sitting, and maybe a full pound while watching Game of Thrones. It’s SUPER addicting. Bakkwa runs you about $ 25 per pound, so prepare to pay for your craving. But since this is the ONLY place in So Cal to get fresh bakkwa(only place in the U.S. as far as I can tell), the price is well worth it if I don’t want to fly to Singapore for my fix. FYI, a half a pound is about 4 – 5 of their slices. I had them cut their slices into fourths to make them easier to eat.

20 years since I have enjoyed these meats. Last time my girlfriend had to smuggle it through customs from Singapore. As soon as I found out this store existed I drove over! Wow it did not dissapoint. 20 years since I last had a taste. But I will never forget that taste. This place is very very close if not spot on. They have the meats! Try the original pork and then try the spicy bacon Yummy.

The best beef jerky! We were on vacation in the West Coast last week. On our last day, we wanted to eat at the DTF in Arcadia. On our way to LAX, we decided to make a pit stop to San Gabriel to check out their Chinatown. I was looking at Unilocal and noticed that they had a good amount of places that made/sold beef jerky. Fragrant Jerky had the best reviews, so we decided to check it out. Walking in, Fragrant Jerky is a small place. They displayed all of their jerkys and even offered tastes for whichever ones you wanted to try. We tried all of them. The black pepper beef jerky was my favorite, along with the spicy pork. What really blew my mind was the BACONJERKY. I have never seen it before. It was just glistening and looked so delicious. When we tried it, it just melts in your mouth. All of the jerkys are so moist and flavorful. The owners were super friendly and helpful. Jeff is awesome! I didn’t catch the lady’s name. He explained their process of making it and how they ship their product all over the world. It is definitely good to know considering I won’t be able to make it California a lot just to pick up some jerky. I think we ended up leaving with over 6 pounds of jerky. Some people may think it is expensive, but it is worth it for the quality of the meats they use. The beef and pork are both lean. It should last you for a little bit, but it is so tasty. how can anyone resist not eating it all in one sitting? You can purchase from their website or on their Amazon page!
