Just tried this place for lunch. We thought the food was really good, especially for the price. I read another reviewer complain about chips that tasted like old oil, but we didn’t experience that. Service was prompt and friendly, but yes, the booths are a bit awkward. I usually like to try a margarita at any new Mexican place I visit, but that will have to wait for another visit at dinner time. Overall, we were very pleased, and will definitely be back.

Absolutely delicious! The best mango margarita — no the best margarita — I have ever had. The food was fresh, flavorful, fragrant and plentiful. Excellent salsa. Great service, and close to home here in Round Rock. Definitely check this place out. :)

To the previous poster calling their rice«sweet», I highly doubt you’ve ever had real Mexican rice it usually has corn and other vegetables in it. The last time I checked corn had a somewhat sweet taste to it plus carrots are a sweet vegetable(thus the sweetness to it). As for including terms such as rancid in your review I’d of chosen something less harsh as that insinuates the meat is spoiled and I can assure you they DONOT use spoiled meat. They might not be perfect at all times but how many times can anyone be?! I’ve been there twice and the people have been exceptionally friendly, the food has been good and if there was anything I didn’t like I’d of asked for them to switch it out. I know they would of gotten me something else without hesitation. Instead, you chose to sit there and take it and because you chose to safe face(or because you lack the social skills to stand up for yourself) you’d rather take it out on these hard working individuals on an app that can have damaging effects on their business. Remember the good olé days when all you had to do was complain about something that wasn’t right?! I’m sure they’d of rather you been a happy customer and left with a positive experience instead of you being a douchebag and calling their meat rancid. With that being said their food to me was good, decently priced, and their margaritas were delicious. Can they improve? They sure can, but overall it(taking their service and food into account) was good enough for me to want to go back.

I have to be honest here. We don’t have high expectations for Tex-Mex and this place still managed to disappoint. Service: The service was great and the waiter was very friendly and attentive. Definitely the high point of our visit. The food did come out suspiciously fast. There weren’t a lot of people there but it wasn’t a good sign of things to come. Atmosphere: Decent décor, par for the course. It’s listed as a sports bar but we saw one tv that was playing what appeared to be 80’s wrestling videos. As mentioned in a previous review, the booth seats are way too high and the tables are way too low. In hind sight, we should have picked a table. That said, you don’t eat the table so onto the important part… Food Chips and Salsa: The salsa was heavy on the onions with a spiciness that sneaks up on you. Not bad. However, the chips were warm but tasted a little like old grease. Chile con Queso: It had the grainy, buttery taste and consistency of canned nacho cheese. Not a good sign. Chimichanga: I ordered the Fajita Beef Chimichanga with refried beans. The beans tasted like canned beans. There’s no way around that, it’s just bad. The rice was strangely sweet. It was the kind of Mexican rice with corn, carrots, and green beans(?) so that may contribute but, overall, not pleasant. The Chimichanga came smothered in the same canned, food service queso. The fajita beef was ok but the whole thing tasted slightly of old grease. Overall, it was disappointing but still head and shoulders above what my fiancée was served. El Charro Burrito: The same weird sweet rice was included here but my fiancée went with the Charro beans. Definitely a better choice than refried as they were pretty good but still almost tasted like canned Ranch Style Beans with some other flavors mixed in. We were delighted to find Pastor as an option for the burrito filling so she went with that. That turned out to be a mistake. The meat tasted rancid. As soon as she cut into the burrito you could smell it and it was off-putting to say the least. We both tried it anyway just to give it a fair shake and it had a salty, gym sock taste. There was a nice, fresh, green avocado in there though so she ate that instead. That avocado may have been the freshest thing in the building. Dinner for two with the queso and 2 teas came to $ 31 which is about average for a decent, no frills, middle of the road Tex-Mex dinner. Unfortunately, all we got for that $ 31 was food that either tasted like it was fresh from a can or handmade last week and sat out un-refrigerated. It really makes me highly suspicious of the 5-star reviews on here.

Given this is Texas — I’ve had an awful lot of Tex-Mex — and I love me some Tex-Mex. This place very recently replaced another Tex-Mex establishment that occupied the same space, so take that into consideration? Here we go: Pro’s — The food was good. About what you’d expect, if slightly better. I had the Fajita’s and my wife had the Enchiladas. We enjoyed both dishes. The beef Fajita meat was very flavorful if a little dry. Portion size is generous. We both left with to-go boxes full of food. — The Charro beans. Delicious! Possibly some of the best Charro beans I’ve had? If you go here you’d be remiss to not get a side of Charro beans. Pretty salty but… just do it. — Staff was friendly. we WERE the only ones there, but they were pretty on point so — thanks! Con’s — The booth bench seats are hilariously awkward. I’m 5’10 and it felt like I towered over the table. Additionally, they recline slightly. if you go here maybe pick a booth initially for the novelty of it, then move to a regular table. Seriously, it’s goofy. — No music. All they had on was some Hispanic TV station reporting the news. Not a huge deal but that doesn’t do much for the atmosphere. — Considering how new this place is this isn’t necessarily a con, but nobody, and I mean nobody, was there. My wife and I were the only customers. This made the whole affair slightly awkward, but again, not REALLY a con per se. Just made things a little weird I guess. If you’re itching for some Tex-Mex with a comfy/lively atmosphere I can think of a dozen other options. If you’re in the neighborhood and can’t be bothered by atmosphere, the food’s good and the staff is nice. Check it out. I wish this place the best!

Wow, what a discovery my friends and I made. Just newly reopened by new financially sturdy owners. Best modest-sized(but very roomy) Mexican Sport Bar & full-menu Restaurant in the center of Round Rock — just ½-block east of the I-35 @ Sam Bass Road intersection. A really quaint, casual, friendly and frugal getaway from the fancy trappings, crowds and prices of trendy modern-day Tex-Mex palaces. Lots of TV’s in the separate Sports Bar and even one huge TV in the main dining room. Plus a large covered patio adjoining the Sports Bar. All tucked away in a wide recessed space between two small fast food drive-thru joints — Long John Silvers seafood and Short Stop burgers — that hug the frontage space of Palm Valley Blvd. But simply enter either of those drive-thrus and proceed to the rear area between them, and wallah, there’s the Oasis I’m talking about. Great place, really nice people and super delicious food and drinks. It’s well worth the extra look to discover it and become an instant fan!
