Not very good. With soooo many Mexican joints in town, avoid this place.

I’m pretty sad to see such a low star rating for Que Pasa. I’ve only been there twice, but we absolutely LOVED it. The prices are excellent, it wasn’t crowded, the service was really friendly, and FAST, and the food was awesome! The first time we came here I got a creamy chicken dish that I had never before heard of or seen on a menu, let alone tried(I wish I could remember the name of it), and it was SOGOOD. I almost never branch out beyond enchildads or fajitas, even with genuine Mexican food(because, let’s face it, most of the time you’re getting Tex Mex anyway), but Que Pasa did it right and really got me looking for genuine and truly good Mexican to break up the monotony of our usual(Chuy’s) when we’re in the mood for south-of-the-border fare. Husband had fajitas and his brother-in-law(who recommended the place to us and insisted on bringing us) had some giant combo plate that had more food than you would think could fit on a plate. Both of them raved about their orders. Second visit Husband & I just had chips and salsa at the bar with a couple of drinks, waiting for Brother-in-law to come back with a working motorcycle(battery died). I was told by someone sitting next to us that it was the owner who made my mojito(I didn’t get confirmation because I didn’t see who made it or who our neighbor was pointing out), but it was wonderful– I’ve only had one better, and that was one a friend made for me at home– and it was really nice not to be told«we don’t have mint» when asking for a mojito. It’s shocking how many places can’t or won’t make them! I am very used to being turned down and being offered a mint julep(you’ll make that with no mint, but not a mojito?) or a gin & tonic instead. So that was really refreshing– and so was my drink! The chips and salsa were also really great– made fresh there, still nice and hot, and I usually prefer super-thin chips, but these were thick and still wonderful. I wish I could make them like this at home. We don’t live in Round Rock(brother in law does), otherwise we’d be here a LOT more often.

We decided to venture in with our daughter for a late lunch around 3:30. The place was dead. We decided to give it a go since the waiter greeted us so quickly. He was nice and attentive so I would give service 4 stars but since it was just us and then another table towards the end, it should have been impeccable. The waiter brought us our food and kept placing everything right in front of our daughter. Now what happens when you put something right in front of a one year old? Napkins went flying, beans were smeared all over the place, rice was up her nose, straws were cast away into some other realm, and my baby girl burnt her hand on a hot plate… PLEASESTOPPUTTINGTHINGSINFRONTOFMYDAUGHTER. We could only play so much interference. I mean, as I was moving the beans out of reach and wiping her face off, he came up behind me to set a water down right in front of her. So, maybe he didn’t have kids but I kinda thought that was standard procedure. Now the food: The chips are not my husband’s favorite but I really liked them. The salsa was watered down and it lacked flavor. it was more of a spaghetti sauce. We ordered a combo plate and decided to share it. We substituted an item for a chili relleno and we regretted our decision. It was greasy and flat and the pablano lacked heat. The egg batter was more of a paste. Not appetizing. The tomatillo pork was probably the only thing I enjoyed and my husband really only liked the tortillas. Oh and the $ 5.50 grande beer was good but we could have gotten that anywhere. All in all, we probably won’t go back there again but it was worth a shot.

Stopped by during lunch today. Only 5 other people in the restaurant. We both ordered a Taco Salad with chicken fajita. The food came out pretty quick. I took a bit of the salad with«chicken fajita» and spit it out. The meat was just a bunch of fat. I tried a second attempt, and spit it out again. I pulled out all of the meat from the salad and examined it. This is the part of the chicken breast you trim off and throw away, te «rib meat» portion. That was what was being used for chicken fajita. Out waiter kept insisting that they use chicken breast for their fajitas. The people were really nice, and removed the item from the bill. I was afraid to eat anything else on the menu and instead went home and put a frozen pizza in the microwave. It was more appealling than the food at Que Pasa. As other patrons mention, the people were really nice, but the food was not worth the trouble, especially when Round Rock appears to be over capacity with Tex-Mex restaurants.

Well I forgot to do my review of the Mexican restaurant Que Pasa when I went about a month ago. I was reminded when I shopped by the Short Stop next door yesterday. Why did I forget? I think because the food was not memorable. The location is fine and the service was fine I liked my wait staff and the food I ordered came out quickly and I ate it all. It was OK but not better or worse than other Mexicans places in the area. Nothing I had here was good enough to pull me back again and again. I ordered beef enchiladas with beans and rice. It enchiladas were good. The chips and salsa was good. The price was fine. I left with a blah feeling. I remember eating here when the location was a different Mexican restaurant and I only went there once as well. I don’t remember the name. The toy wooden train that runs along the ceiling in the dining room was still there. I like the toy train but it was not running the day I went. Would I go back? Not sure not in the near future for sure.

Not horrible, but not worth a return visit. You can kinda judge a Mexican place by it’s chips and salsa — and this one just couldn’t hang. I think I ordered the chicken nachos, and they were seriously just chicken and cheese. The chicken was stewed, and lacked flavor. The cheese was just sort of globbed on. My dining peeps were also not impressed. Meh.

We liked Que Pasa well enough, but it does not seem to be the kind of place that calls to us when we are not even thinking about Mexican food like some other places seem to do. We really liked the fresh made chips, and there is Lots of available parking. When in the mood for great chips, we will probably stop by again.

Trust me Alexia I know good interior Mexican food and this is not it. Comparing it to Curra’s or Manuel’s(which is interior Mexian food) only makes this place look worse. They might make their own chips but that doesn’t mean they weren’t burnt when we had them. I ordered charro beans and they gave me refried beans — they did bring me the charro beans afterwards so I got to taste both. The beans were average good but their rice really wasn’t. Sorry I have to agree with Mark B — salsa is nasty and the food was awful.
