I loved how they kept things simple and focused on making good plates. It took me forever to decide what I wanted because all the options sounded too good. I ended up getting the crab cake meal and my boyfriend got the linguini which were both really great. I can’t wait to go back and try everything else!

We stopped for a late lunch and had the«rustic fish»(really delicious!), my wife ordered«spicy Minorcan clam chowder» and«blackened shrimp and grits» both also very good. Although the place is not fancy, the décor is fitting for St Augustine & done well, Would recommend to anyone who is use to high end dining

So awesome! We were on a quest for good local seafood and found this place based on reviews. The inside is kind of small, but turnaround is quick(not rushed). We sat at the bar and were offered a table when one came up, which was a nice touch. Beer and wine selection is small, but solid. We ordered the shrimp and grits to start– I am NOT a grits person, but our server said I would still like it. I was glad I listened! They’re a cheddar-grit mix done like a cake instead of the usual pile. For the main we had the blackened fish, which was mahi we were assured was pulled off the boat that morning. From the quality of the dish, it had to be! It also had perfectly cooked pasta and bacon-Brussels sprouts. Both dishes had a sherry-cream sauce that I could have eaten on its own! I would love to go back and try the rest of the menu, including their non-seafood items.

After reading the good reviews from fellow Unilocalers we had to check this place out. After a long hot day of waking around beautiful St. Augustine we stopped here for a late lunch. The restaurant was small and simple. Very friendly staff greeted us and we got a table in the corner with the kids. The food took a bit longer than we expected but was so worth the wait. Luckily for us the catch of the day was Snapper! Everything was full of flavor. I ordered the 27 salad with the fresh catch of the day. It was a large serving of mixed greens and the Dijon-caper dressing was simple and added just enough flavor to complement the fish. There wasn’t more than 4 oz of fish on the salad which was a little underwhelming but it was so tasty! My husband got the fish tacos and was completely satisfied. The kids split a rice bowl with fish… No complaints. I highly recommend Catch 27!

I love this place. Local, fresh fish every day. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The portions may seem small but they are actually quite filling. I loved the desert. I also noticed not many strollers, which is nice. Plenty of room on the back patio too with a nice little fountain.

Hands down, BESTFISHTACOS! We walked in at what seemed like the afternoon rush. Our waiter remained cool, calm and respectful. I ordered fish tacos, Mom ordered shrimp tacos and daughter wanted buttered noodles with chicken(very accommodating). We all ordered cesar salads as sides. For dessert, coffee with key lime pie and vanilla crème brûlée. Everything was truly delicious! I would give them 10 stars if Unilocal allowed! My Mom was very impressed and that’s not an easy feat! Recommend and repeat.

Back to st. Augustine to see friends, that I missed the last round. Some of these people, I haven’t seen between 42 to 46 years… A quick 5 day trip. This meal was spent alone. I was cruising Charlotte Street to look at the house I lived in and this restaurant was a block down from my ‘home’. Lunchtime, it was packed with tourists. Oops, I’m a tourist… Sat at the bar, no drink, hell I don’t drink in the middle of a sunny hot day. Had the blacken mahi-mahi, sandwich that was topped with a fried egg…(Mahi-mahi was the fish of the day wherever I went this time of the year.) WoW!!! this was pure nirvana. Fish was perfect and with a soft runny yolk. heaven on earth! Need I say more?

Best meal I had eaten in a restaurant in a while, and not for the highest price ;) Delicious, fresh meal at a very reasonable cost. Ambiance could be improved, but service was great.

The fish tacos were out of this world. I love that they use a different fish every day for them. Totally coming back!

My wife and I went here for our St. Augustine date night and she found this place on Unilocal. The location and ambience was good. We sat outside since it wasn’t too hot. We started with a beer and a glass of wine. The wait staff was good and well attentive. We ordered the hummus and a bowl of clam chowder. The chowder was similar to Manhattan with a tomato base. The hummus was ok. I have had better before. After a few more drinks we ordered the Fish tacos and the blackened fish. Today’s catch was Mahi Mahi. The fish was fresh but the entrees were ok. The tacos was a big portion but needed something else. My side was black beans and rice which needed a little more salt and the rice was over cooked/wet. My wife’s blacked fish ok too. The angle hair pasta was smothered in sauce and was over cooked. Personally I like al dente which I know is very hard with such things pasta but the sauce was a bit too much. Also the pasta had Brussel sprouts mixed in which was a little different. The Brussel sprouts were not over cooked though. Over all I would give this place 3.5 stars. I would come back for drinks and the ambience.

I just love this place. I dont normally like fish but trust me the rice bowl with fish and chipotle sauce is going to keep me thinkin about it whenever I think of food. One of the yummiest food me and my husband had on our trip to St. Augustine. My husband had Fish Rustica and he loved ot too. Simple setting, friendly staff. A must go to place

The waitress was not friendly, she left the room for long periods of time to pick up food. People came and left as there wasn’t anyone to greet. The food was mediocre, my salad leaves had been eaten by bugs, my poached egg was not really poached, the Crab cake was tasteless, the Crab was mushy, it wasn’t fresh and the Shrimp were very small, overly seasoned and overcooked.

My husband and I had s great dinner here last evening. This was our third time here in its new location. We both had the Rustic Catch(flounder). It was simply prepared and came with a vegetable risotto. A garden salad was our first course. We were both very pleased with the freshness of every bite. The salad was crisp and delicate in flavor all at the same time. The dressing was delicious. The fish tasted like it just got off the boat. The way it was prepared was perfect to our taste. Simple and very flavorful. The risotto was also very good. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find they had an outside garden area. That along with the great food and great service by our server Will made me want to take the time to write. We will for sure be back.

We had a disappointing«late» night dinner here which was really at 7:30 — perhaps they shouldn’t have seated our party of 6 so close to their ridiculously early 8:30 closing time if they weren’t going to give us attentive service or well executed food. I felt like the whole staff, except the host, literally just quit on the few remaining diners after the sun went down. Overall the food was just a notch above palatable. Nothing here that would urge me to come back.

I was on the hunt for something«Light and Refreshing» for lunch. I left VERY pleased having satiated that desire! While the food was good, it was the service that really bowled me over and impressed me! They made me and my daughter feel so welcome. The waitress even offered to give my daughter some snacks OR a plastic to-go lid for her to play with! I ordered the fish tacos. I couldn’t make up my mind if I wanted the garlic sauce or the aioli on the tacos so the server brought me BOTH on the side to try! The tacos had generously amounts of lightly fried fish along with pico de gallo and shredded lettuce. I personally liked the garlic sauce the best out of the two and it provided an airy zest to the meal! The only negative I could state was the Cesar was TOO doused in dressing. It didn’t bother me until near the end of the meal where a lot of the lettuce was soggy. The croutons were incredible though!!!

I’m not a huge fan of seafood other than crab cakes and shrimp, so I wasn’t to sure what to expect… well… It was awesome! The entire meal was wonderful… I ordered the crab cakes and they were delicious. The service was awesome… They gave our group some appetizers because we had to wait a long time. The shrimp and grits were really good…(I was hesitant to try it.) I’m really glad I tried it. It was definitely worth the trip to Saint Augustine… We will definitely be back in the future.

Atmosphere: Like most places in this area, the inside was pretty small but this felt almost like you were in an underwater cafeteria. Not a romantic place at all which was fine but the ambiance was a bit lacking. Staff: I must say that the staff was attentive and very nice. We were one of the last tables to be sat and even though they seemed tired, they were very accommodating especially since they slid us in. Food: Lack luster. I was a little disappointed in the dinner. I ordered the Florida Piccada. Now I’m not saying it was bad but it was a bit bland and they have so many choices in this area that I may go somewhere else the next time.

Never give one star… EVER. But … Read about you guys in a south Florida newspaper this Sunday… And I was SOOO excited to try! Walked into the restaurant at 8:45… ‘Sorry, kitchens closed…‘ If you want to run with the big dogs, then please do… Dinner time in most of the free world runs til 10 pmish. I’m in st Augustine about once a year, so I won’t make or break your biz for sure. But I also want be back, nor will I recommend you to my friends… Cause at 8:45 it was too late. Tsk tsk.

Catch 27 has moved around the corner, much as The Floridian also moved its location recently to a larger space. The same motivation appears to be behind Catch 27’s move: While their new space is certainly not vast – cozy, even – their old quarters were downright tiny. The new space still smells of fresh paint and is both welcoming and yet not overdone. Like the Floridian, it seems less homey perhaps than the original but more professional, more crisp, and still informal and intimate. The move I think was a very wise decision. The food is as good as ever. I had the gumbo tonight and my parents who were with me had the rustic fish and the crab cakes. The rustic fish is frankly what to get if you’re not sure what to order: whatever the current catch of the day is will be cooked in a very understated yet regal and delicious manner, very fitting for Florida and for the theme of Catch 27. The gumbo is a twist on the Louisiana classic but very tasty and the sausage used is robust and pairs perfectly with the large Mayport shrimp. The crab cakes are, if you like crab cakes, great – I’m not so big on crab cakes but certainly they know what they’re doing with this dish. We also had the starter-sized portion of the shrimp and grits which uses a grit cake and is a perfect presentation and approach to this Southern classic. The waitstaff is. .. not exactly as on-point as they ought to be for the caliber of food and approach which is one of casual fine dining. The overlooked refilling my iced tea until I mentioned it to them and the waiter when he took our order forgot his iPad to input the order and had to run and get it. It’s not a big deal, it won’t cost them a star, and most of their staff probably are Flagler kids and not trying to make this a career, but still: room to improve, certainly. Also, the space still is tight and the waitstaff has no idea how to properly move through the space carrying food. It’s obvious and reminded me of some Disney cartoon with the waiters nearly tipping over for comedic effect. All in all – especially in terms of quality, presentation, and innovation of the food – five stars. And Saint Augustine needs this: while The Ice Plant and The Floridian are both amazing restaurants, it’s nice to have one dedicated to seafood and Catch 27 fills the bill.
