Famous? Really? More like«infamous.» Ordered the bowl of chili and grilled cheese sandwich. The chili tasted like it was out of a can and had sat on the stove too long. The grilled cheese sandwich was barely warm. Also, the table had not been wiped off from the previous customer.

Always good, quick service. Great servers, quick and food is always good. Famous A’s is the Roanoke area’s best local eatery. Salem Famous A’s, doing great!

I wish I would have looked at the reviews here before venturing out to this restaurant. It has won a lot of awards(locally), but I have no idea why. The food was really pretty terrible. Fast service, but food was not good at all.

I don’t know what all the hype is about over this place. The locals apparently love it and tons of people have«FA» stickers on their car. Well I’m not from here… I’ve been to Famous Anthony’s twice and the food was disgusting. Maybe people are so obsessed because there aren’t many good places to eat here? Who knows!

WIthout a doubt the worst food I’ve ever had in my life. This was our second experience at Famous Anthony’s(our first was the one in Roanoke) — but first one here in Salem. The price was great, but that is the ONLY thing nice to say. We started with a few appetizers — the Chicken Nachos, Mozzarella Sticks, and Fried Green Beans. The mozzarella sticks and Fried Green Beans were average(which is really good for this place) and the Chicken Nachos were a horrible attempt at preparing this classic dish. For the Chicken Nachos… imagine slightly stale, very cold tortilla chips, with loose cheese, a little less, and mystery meat(we hope it was chicken!) on top. None of it was warmed or prepared in any way to blend together. I can’t cook, and I think I could have done much better! Then…it gets worse… I had a «Build a Burger» and my son David had the Grilled Salmon Platter. Which was worse — that is a tough one to decide! My burger was hard, with a cardboard-like complexity. While on the plus side it was warm(microwaved?), it was missing the toppings I originally ordered. That was probably for the best anyway! If I had to rank this burger, I’d put it WELL below McDonalds or any other fast food restaurant. Being fair, it’s not as good as most elementary school cafeterias! The Salmon… wow…this is tough to describe. Let’s just say mystery meat is being way too kind! I had no idea whether it was Salmon, Chicken, or even beef. After cutting it up, and attempting to eat one bite, the partially cooked imitation fish was so bad that he had to spit out the 2nd or 3rd bite and just not continue eating it. He had a baked potato with it that was edible — fortunately he filled up on that. At the end of the«meal», my 9 year old son was so amazed at how bad this experience truly was that he innocently asked… «Dad, does this restaurant photoshop all of their pics on the menus to trick you to eat the food here!?». In a nutshell — a horrible experience. We will NEVER be back.

Service was good, food was subpar at best. Low price, so you get what you pay for.

Good cheap greasy food. The tastiness of the dish varies, so there’s a lot of hit and miss(I hate their fries). I love their fried green beans. A clean place with a good staff serving solid American greasy food.

If you want a quick, cheap bite to eat this is your place. Good food? It’s acceptable for what it is but it’s nothing to write home about. The service is excellent though and it is a very popular spot for locals.
