It was Denny’s or IHOP. It was a mild Saturday after noon. IHOP — they’re specialists. I awarded them the contract. I received 3 or 4 kinds of cold syrup. All with the consistency of model airplane cement. Butter — hard as a rock. I mean, the place is called«The International House of Pancakes». Every pancake aficionado knows only warm syrup will do. You cannot spread hard butter. I mean, this place can’t even figure out how to present the«condiments» required for pancake eatin’. Apparently IHOP hasn’t figured out that is the little things. Or they forgot. Or they just don’t care. Cold syrup? Who does that? They’re supposed to be SPECIALISTS! The pancakes? You know what a pancake supposed to taste like. Not these. Eggs were reasonable — sunny side up. The menu stated that I would receive eggs, pancakes, and crispy bacon. Yeah, the bacon was crispy. After I received it nearly uncooked. I ask the waitress if she could have them cook it a bit more so it was crispy. I couldn’t believe how fast she got back with my now crispy bacon. Well, it was burned to a crisp. I guess really turned up the heat to hurry the crisping process along. A manager asked how I was doing. Well sir, the syrup has the consistency of model airplane cement, the butter is as hard as a rock, the kitchen thinks crisp bacon means burned to a crisp and apparently my waitress agreed with the kitchen which is wack because anyone with any more than a brain of mush wouldn’t have attempted to deliver bacon cooked until it’s black to a table. A good waitress tells the cook to fix it. I think they need to fire the pretend cook and the pretend waitress. The manager brought me some bacon. At least wasn’t white. But still — no crispy. But he didn’t charge me for the meal. It was unbelievable. The cost would’ve been about ten bucks. Denny’s could give IHOP lessons in how to offer breakfast. Denny’s is cheaper too. IHOP — just don’t do it.

I gave one star because I didn’t think there was a way to give no stars at all. Eating there was the worst dining experience. We arrived between 7:30PM and 8:00PM and the restaurant was not busy at all. Apparently, a waitress was on her way to a short break because she barely looked at us, then walked past us and out the door. We stood there waiting for someone to greet us. That same waitress was back working about 10 or 15 minutes later. We were finally seated and asked what we would like to drink. My husband ordered water which did not come when the rest of the drinks arrived. We were a party of five and only 2 sets of utensils were on the table. I finally got up myself and got the additional sets of utensils from their plastic bin. A male waiter kept telling us he was sorry he was busy and would be right with us, After several minutes a hostess person came and took our order. Several, several minutes later three of our meals came and two of us still had no food. Then the fourth meal arrived and the hostess asked if everything was OK. I looked up and told her it would be if I had my meal. She was the same one who brought all of our dishes and never realized she didn’t bring the fifth meal. Finally I get my meal. During all of this a male waiter keeps apologizing and saying he is busy and he hopes everything is OK. We honestly just thought he was being nice. This restaurant was NOTATALL busy at this time. We were stunned when it turned out the male waiter was the one who brought us the check and thanked us for being there. Are you kidding me? This person never serviced us in anyway and he was the one who was supposed to be doing it. The service and attention to detail at this restaurant is awful.

Came here on a Sunday morning for some breakfast but boy place was packed. They told me it would be 20 to 25 minutes for the wait. I waited 30 minutes and I left would not recommend this IHOP. Went to Carl’s Jr. right next-door and got my grub on in less than 5 minutes.

An hour and a half waiting for pancakes and a sandwich. Waitress didn’t even bother checking in with us. When I finally received my food, I was very unimpressed. My plate looked like it was thrown together, literally. My tab came out to $ 25 and I left feeling like they owed me. It’s partially my fault for coming on Christmas. Management should really consider being closed on holidays as employees really look like they’d rather be at home.

First I’d like to say the stars are for the food, 5 stars to the Buttermilk Pancakes. But im so irritated with the service It took them 32 min to seat us, but what Im really upset about is the Host. I called in and he told me, he could not add me to the list because it was first come first serve, I was ok with that. But while waiting to be seated the Host rcvd a call, and as I was expecting he said First come First serve, but the person on the phone continued arguing and he finally said«Yes I understand your going to get here on time but… Ok ok how many»!! ANDHEADDEDTHEMTOTHELIST. That is what made me really angry, you cant pick and choose who your going to serve over the phone. I am not a confrontational person so I didn’t let the Host know. And that is why I am writing this review.

So came here as we were looking to try out ihop. Originally, we were gonna head to the one in San Jose and maybe we should have stuck to that option. Like Shakira’s hips, Unilocal reviews don’t lie. This place was just terrible in terms of its service. I don’t know if we just came to early but they seemed short staff at 7.30am in the morning. I’d think if you offered breakfast that you’d want all hands on deck! The stars are for the pancakes and the main male waiter that served us. He was helpful and tried his best as his female colleague was just terrible. We visited by the way on 21 nov for reference as I’d be happy to compliment the efforts of the male waiter that helped make things easy for us. Sorry we didn’t catch his name. Unfortunately, his colleague was rude and as we sat in the wait area to help entertain our daughter while we waited quite a while for our food, she asked if we were next but as I answered she turns her head, doesn’t hear me and says we’re next while I had to basically shout at her and repeat that we had sat down and just waiting for our food. This is despite the fact when we walked in about half an hour earlier she told us to wait to be seated(side note: she never came back and her male colleague that had been so ever helpful came to sit us down as he noticed we’d been waiting for 5 minutes or so) There was some mix up with our orders but they were resolved easily and I’m sure it’s hard to work by yourself on the floor when the other staff member is not so helpful. Pancakes were delicious and my highlight. Quite disappointed by our experience here. Don’t think I’ll be coming back to try ihop again. Definitely not this one. My cousins who live in the U.S. were also not so impressed and won’t be coming back either to ihop. What ashame! Well we did notice though that things ran more smoothly as more staff came on the floor but maybe consider either having everyone there from 6am/opening or open later. First impressions definitely count!

Service was 45 minutes before our food reached our table. Waitress kept disappearing.

I eat here regularly. Today, I called twice and there was no answer. There are many times when I ask for alternatives and I am treated as if I am a problem. Furthermore, if you get the order to go, check your order, 3 out of 5 times the order is incorrect. On the positive side, when the order is right, it is very good.

Our first visit here — wasn’t too bad. The server and hostess, Melissa, was very friendly and attentive to our needs. She continued coming back to our table and answered all of our questions. Being patient was a plus in our book too since we are usually undecided. My food tasted great(mushroom & spinach omelette with double choc chip pancakes) and I was stuffed. Eventhough Melissa was clearly at least 15, maybe 20 years younger than us, she called my boyfriend sweetheart and hun. That was interesting since you usually expect it to come from an older waitress lol. I understand it’s hospitality lingo but was just interesting and noteworthy. She was a very kind waitress and I hope we get her as our waitress again when we go back. Great experience overall. My bf and I will be going back next week most likely when we’re in Salinas again.

I have been to this IHOP a handful of times over the years and drove by here the other day… a young girl was outside with an advertisement sign saying something ALL in Spanish. I understand that most people in Salinas have Spanish as their first language but we are after-all in the United States where the primary language is English. I was actually very offended by the fact that the sign was all in Spanish. Will not be eating here ever again.

Breakfast suked, atmosphere horrible, as of today I was disgusted by the filthiness here. The back of the booth was falling apart. syrups dripping with old syrup. .sent the fruit back cuz it did not look fresh at all. like its been sitting. reveived second fruit cup and just as bad. Ordered light n fit omlett with side of waffle. they charge $ 8 for a dam waffle so all together my omlett was $ 10 plus $ 8…unfreakinbelievable! I will never spend my $$ at any ihop again. First awakenings blows this place away and I will tell everyone I know how horrble this place has gone. Management should really step it up and have this place disinfected and fix up the stuff falling apart. NEVERAGAIN!

Got right in but it’s thurs 9:34 am to be exact. Order smoke house sausage breakfast for 10.50(someone else is paying) and had pancakes ToGo. The person that’s going to pay for this meal order the ultimate breakfast. Ok people you can not do 6,000 calories on just breakfast(exception ok if someone else pay) Bad: rug, not cool, you get the drift see photo. This place needs to strip and go cement or synthetic flooring. This place could be a 5 if the flooring is cool. Food: it’s eggs and bread Service: friendly and fast so Double F’s

hubby and i stopped in for breakfast on a sunday mid-morning on our way down south. when they called our name, they said ‘party of 4,’ so we didn’t respond. about 7 minutes later i thought i should check to see where our name was on the list, only to see that it had been crossed out. i told the gal, we were a party of 2, and we did hear them call our name but they had called a party of 4. she sat us right away. needless to say i am so glad i checked… or we might still be waiting! i do wish i could give a 3.5 cause breakfast was awesome! it was the best IHOP breakfast i have ever had. i had the bacon temptation omelette and it was excellent. tasty, fresh, full of bacon. hubby had the hearty ham & cheese omelette and he said there was almost too much stuff in it. i have to give a 3 because: our coffee carafe ran out of coffee. i didn’t push it cause we still had many hours on the road ahead of us. the sourdough toast was white, not toasted at all. and the person buttering the toast, barely touched any butter to the bread. i couldn’t eat it. and it was too cold to melt any additional butter on it. ask for another batch? we’d be done with our breakfast by the time it arrived. jonathan, our server was exceptional. he was wonderful.

Came here once and never came back. I ordered the spinach and mushroom omelette. The flavor was bland so I put tapatio. I instantly had a huge headache and I felt really sick. Ended up throwing up all my food!

I love IHOP. I was a little concerned after reading a couple reviews, but our waitress was great, and our food was good. We were in and out quickly and I had no complaints. The coffee was really good actually, better than I’m used to at most IHOP and similar restaurants.

Good food-No Wait We tried out the local Salinas I-Hop and were pleasantly surprised. The building it is situated in is a throwback to the 70’s diners. We arrived before the dinner crowd and were the only party in the entire restaurant –sweet! Food was great– Pancakes, eggs, bacon, hash browns, french toast and the standard breakfast fare was hot and delicious. Restaurant(including restrooms) was clean. Syrup containers weren’t even sticky on the outside. If you like I-Hop, don’t hesitate coming here. We’ll be back.
