Great food, professional service, attention to detail. Flavio has another winner! I met my stepson at Civico 1845 today for lunch and I could not have been more thrilled with everything. I can’t wait to go back.

The people. The food. Everything about this place was amazing! Didn’t find exactly what I wanted on the menu so the server customized my pasta dish and it came out better than I could’ve imagined! Recommend x10000. can’t wait to come back! Ps cannoli was to die for!

It was the last day on my short trip to San Diego with a few friends and we decided to go to little italy which is the little town where this restaurant is at, pretty cool place btw and has a lot of cool shops and restaurants, we stop in and we were greeted warmly by the very friendly staff, everyone here seemed genuine and authentic, our waitress(Federica) was super attentive and happy to explain a few items on the menu and made some suggestions and I ended up choosing the Linguine Pasta which was delicious! Not to mention that she was very cool :) Also I think the manager stopped by to ask if everything was good which I appreciate! Overall I recommend this place for its outstanding service, great location and very cozy vibe :)

Let me start with the bad then the good! The coffee we had as dessert had a slight lipstick residue left over from the previous user. BUTPLEASELETMESAY… It was our first time here and I LOVEDIT. The manager checked up on us twice, our waters were never empty, the food came out quite quick as well, and the wait was only about 20 mins for coming around 6! We ordered. The barruta: AMAZING! it came with a mini fennel salad on top of thinly sliced tomatoes. I am not a bag fan of tomatoes but it made me want to eat it like this forever! $ 11 I think Calamari: It came mixed some O’s and some baby octopus. It was lightly battered so I thought I could taste it more! $ 14 Ravioli classic: This was their simple pasta but it made you really appreciate the simplicity of it! This was my bfs favorite. Risotto with the shrimp: creamy, the shrimp were so perfect bite size, the zucchini scattered in between. Every bite made me want another! Over all it was a good ambiance, service was good despite my food being left behind I would def recommend this spot!

Of all the restaurants on this street, only this one had an 82 year old Italian man swooning us at the door. We chose them 100% because of him and were wonderfully rewarded. Calamari was fresh fresh fresh! Olive blend was delicious with big fat red olives, bright green olives, and little brown olives. Complimentary bread with pesto dipping oil. I had the risotto with mushrooms. It was creamy and buttery and perfect. The mushrooms were flavorful and strong. My husband had the fusilli bolognese, homemade pasta made it special. We finished off with tiramisu like it should be, creamy and sweet! Great scene, beautiful patio. It’s really a neighborhood restaurant. Residents walking by greeted our server by name, friends of the restaurant stood out on the sidewalk chatting with the hostess and waiters. Service was excellent the entire time.

There are so many good choices in Little Italy! I find it hard to believe that you can make a bad choice! If you choose this place, start with the calamari! OT was delicious and comes with 2 dipping sauces. The red one is hot and the white one is not. Both are great! I ordered the Pappardelle Brasato… OMG! AMAZING! The noodles tasted like they were made from scratch & the neat was so flavorful! My husband chose the Fusilli 50⁄50. That wad good… but I defiantly picked the winner! We finished with cannoli! Seriously the best cannoli ever! The shell was crispy and lined with choclate. The filling was delicious and it had the crushed pistachios on it. A must have! The biggest downfall was the service. The waiter seems absent minded. We had to ask twice for drinks. Then had to ask for refills.

So excited to discover this place. They have an entirely separate VEGAN menu! Even vegan desserts! I haven’t had authentic Italian food since becoming vegan so this was so special for me! The staff was extremely friendly and so well informed on vegan options. The server made sure to specify that the bread they brought out to the table before the meal was vegan but not gluten free(praise the lord a restaurant finally knows the difference) Flávio was super friendly and gracious and was excited for us to try his vegan desserts(the tiramisu is to die for!) Definitely a fun atmosphere. It did get pretty loud during peak dinner hours but that’s to be expected. So thankful when a restaurant is consciously respectful and vegan friendly. :) Will definitely be back!

Waiters and staff were very friendly. Service was mostly good but a bit forgetful. Food was just ok. Pasta was not fully cooked(quite al dente). I think I’ll try the place kitty-corner from them next time. Oh and Check your credit card statement: My waiter typed in an extra $ 1 of tip for himself after I filled out both copies(Just offends me on principle)

Came in for an early dinner with some family after flying in to San Diego Airport. I love Little Italy, and even though I don’t live in San Diego, whenever I am down, you will always find me there. I’ve had my share of great Italian in Little Italy, so my expectations were pretty high for Civico 1845. We came in around 4:30PM and the outside had a few customers. Not many people inside. I love the décor of this place! Love the white/grey color scheme with clean lines and modern look. However, I can’t say that I really enjoyed the greeting I received from the hostess. She promptly asked me if «I had a reservation», and gave me immediate attitude once I said no. She was really rude and kept saying, «follow me», but didn’t go anywhere. Was really confused. Someone else(I think the owner) actually ended up seating us after speaking to her in Italian. Menu is actually quite small compared to others I have seen in the area, and it was very heavily seafood predominant, which is fine to me, but might be an issue for others. I enjoyed the bread and pesto/olive oil dip provided at the table. Really thought it had a perfect amount of garlic and pesto.yum. I ordered the pasta with mussels, and I thought it was fantastic. The pasta was clearly homemade and fresh, perfectly cooked slightly al dente. One thing I HATE is when restaurants overcook seafood, and they cooked the mussels to perfection! Not too raw and over chewy and not too overcooked and chalky. Perfect. Portions are a bit on the small side. I was able to pretty much finish my plate which never happens. My nana had a linguine with seafood and said her pasta was not very good and undercooked. The pinot grigio I ordered was delicious and went great with the seafood as I expected. The only qualm I had was they didn’t fill the glass enough. Was more like a half glass than a full. I guess it’s how you look at it sometimes though right? Our server was friendly and the rest of the staff were attentive, so the rest of the people working there had great attitudes. Must have just been a bad day for the hostess. Overall, I would be back here. I think the price is a bit high for what you get, and I think a few dishes are hit or miss, but I would recommend the fresh pasta with mussels if you’re going to come here. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed my lunch at this restaurant. There are SOMANY Italian restaurants in Little Italy. It is so hard to pick one. They are all good but I really judge an Italian restaurant on a few things. 1. How is the bread? Fresh, warm, authentic 2. Olive oil, is it the real deal, can you taste Italy in it? 3. Carpaccio– is it fresh? Too much salt, capers? arugula(is it fresh and crispy? Parmesano(is it freshly shaved? Good quality? 4. Pasta– is it fresh or not? Is it «al dente»? Well, this restaurant passed all my tests and the staff was fantastic, specially our waitress, Federica, what’s smile:)

More than happy to give 5*!! Atmosphere is great, menu is very original, the staff is all italian from the hostess, to the servers and the server assistant… and the owner welcomes you and makes you feel home. I’m Italian and so far this is one of the only places in San Diego that reminds me of home. Being in the restaurant business make me be very critique on every little thing from the service to the food. I highly recommend you to try it!!!

Let’s begin with Welcome, very warm and accommodating. Changed our Reservation time promptly. Bread and pezto sauce appeared quickly. I’m a sucker for bread :) Seated and Giovanni took over! Smile, energetic, and Sweet(offered a vegan dessert) :) I chose from the Vegan Menu, so many options! Pasta, sauce made in house. Freshest pasta I’ve ever had! Fettuccini and Rice Ball with French fries! Well I’ve never :) Ambiance is open, airy, natural beautiful! The language adds to the experience! The chocolate vegan goodness, A-mazing! Would definitely return and recommend!

As soon as I walked I knew I was in for a treat. The place is small but cozy, there are a lot of white accent. There’s a cool rustic window/door like fixture leading to what appears to be a larger dining area(there was a big party in there that night) — good to know! You can’t help but notice the servers running around and the action taking place. We got seated and our server came over immediately to take our drink orders and tell us about the specials. He was very patient with us as we made up our mind about which delicious entrée to have. The service was great throughout the night– we got checked on many times. We started by ordering the potato risotto balls– they were tasty served with a side Pomodoro. I will say they tasted more like potato than risotto– but delicious nonetheless. I ordered the pappardelle for my entrée– it was delicious and very filling. The portion is quite generous as well, probably big enough to share unless you have a hungry partner like myself in which case probably not :-D I must say that I really like the fact that they have vegan options as we have a vegan in the family. I definitely plan to come back and explore their menu some more.

Unbelievably the finest world class authentic Italian cuisine served in a warm inviting eatery, nestled in Little Italy. Civico takes you back to a relaxing restaurant in Tuscany with the rustic décor and Italian speaking servers. Unforgettable cuisine that will keep you dreaming of this place, I look forward to my sweet return where flavors of love in every bite & impeccable service is of the norm~~ MOLTOBUONO~~Civico 1845 is the flagship of restaurants while dining in Little Italy! The best thing about the Vegan Diet is the YOLO carb consumption. Fresh pasta being one of the finest sources, I bounded inside the eatery with excitement. Civico offers a separate menu, full of plant based classic Italian dishes from each course category. Capri: Vegan Caprese. Coconut mozzarella, heirloom tomato, basil, balsamic vinaigrette, EVOO. Amazing and a truly successful recreation. Ravioli: Spinach and Tofu Ricotta, basted with a San Marzano Tomato Sauce. We are rollin’ now. Tiramisu: More like bread pudding. Forgettable but paired with… Chocolate Gelato: Rich dark chocolate flavor and the creamy texture that most vegan frozen desserts lack. Filled with a core of chocolate sauce this is a dessert not to be missed. Even staring at the 800 lb gorilla that Bencotto is from across India Street, Civico offers some imaginative twists on the cuisine and an adventurous spirit that make them a viable option for your dollar. Salute!
