What a coincidence that my first time at this place here that they were celebrating their one year anniversary! I’m glad I was introduced to this place by a good buddy of mine, who knew the owners! The place I’d describe to be very quaint and full of character, being in a prime location on the main street. Great vibe, kind and knowledgeable baristas, and of course excellent coffee. Shout out to Matt, one of the owners, who shared a sandwich with us. Keep up the great work guys! I will be back.

Spent a couple hours the other morning in this amazing local business getting some work done. They’re been in business for over a year now and although the sign outside is subtle, their passion for coffee ritual makes it a must on my coffee shop stop list. The owner Matt and his biz partner are truly wizards of the roast — coaxing out beautiful flavors through their roasting processes. Subtle and slight sweet — get your beans from here if you brew at home! I also enjoyed the pastries and went for the cheddar and bacon bread. Soft, buttery with a smokey hint from the bacon — it tasted like something the wild west would cook up and reminded me of camping in a way. The wifi works great, the staff is super friendly, it’s small and often busy — all the signs of a coffee shop winning in the NoCo. I’ll be coming in all the time most likely — whenever I find a new caffeine gem I bring all my ex-seattle peeps to the shrine to worship. We’re deprived and addicted — don’t judge us. YAY Ironsmith! All the stars.

There are a lot of coffee places on the 101 in Encinitas but this place is the best, in my opinion. The Barista special is really good, strong but not too strong and just the right amount of sweetness. The liquid hustle is cold brew with espresso and that stuff is strong and will make you ready for anything. The staff is awesome too!

I’m not a coffee buff by any means. I drink the free stuff at the office. I like coffee flavored things but the coffee flavored sugar cream sold to kids around the world(Seriously when did that start? when I was young it was taboo. Right under buying beer for a minor) is just too much. Ironsmith really impressed me. I was lucky enough to be able to meet the owner Matt while he did his spiel of why he opened this place. He’s dedicated to the craft like a science. Small batches until he gets it right, taking measurements, being mindful of temps and times. It speaks to my scientist yet foodie heart! We tried a Guatemalan coffee as well as an Ethiopian one. I could tell the difference but I realized I’m probably not going to be a connoisseur anytime soon. Fine. I leave my fate into the capable, local dedicated hands at Ironsmith. Done.

The coffee was good and the foam was done perfectly. The baristas were very friendly. A little cramped inside, not enough chairs inside. Better than most coffee places I have had before.

We had the pleasure of visiting Ironsmith Coffee Roasters and got a full run-down from Matthew — what a treat! In addition to sustainable sourcing and in-house roasting, Ironsmith offers extremely unique flavors of coffee — if not, the best coffee — right in Encinitas. Their storefront sign is small, so keep your eyes peeled for the black anvil-shaped one hanging near the entrance. Ethiopia Roast — A fruity, tangy brew that I’d imagine often goes unappreciated by the underdeveloped palate. Check this out if you’re looking for a new adventure or need to satisfy your craving for coffee that truly is the cream of the crop. Dairy-Free Almond Milk is available should you desire, and I think you can swap cow milk out for nut milk on just about any drink. Good things come in small packages, and Ironsmith is no exception! Even though this coffee shop is small, it was teeming with locals getting their morning buzz. Very laid back atmosphere, and loved the local art for sale on the walls. Will definitely return!

This place is great! When in Encinitas I go here! I love the feel and most importantly the fresh roasted coffee. There is parking out back to. If you are going to or coming back from San Diego make sure you stop here– a few blocks from the expressway and then stroll down to the beach!

LOVE these guys. Killer coffee(the Ethiopia roast is my favorite and the best for cold brew), killer chai, and amazing people. What else do you want in a coffee shop?

$ 7 for a coffee and a soggy scone. I asked for milk and they gave me cream. The coffee was mediocre.

Stop here if you are in downtown Encinitas and want a great cup of coffee, shot of espresso, or pastry, along with extremely nice people. We had a filter coffee, which was delightful and fruity, just like an Ethiopian should be. I had a very good Americano. It’s also a great place to get some work done in a pleasant environment. Good music too. My only comment is that one time I got my Americano to go, and it was extremely hot. I couldn’t drink it for like 20 minutes without destroying my mouth. But I haven’t had that issue since.

I love the open air seats facing the sidewalk, but if that doesn’t quite do it for you there’s more seating along the windows facing the parking lot. I also loved their eye-catching white espresso machine. I was taking a break from the road and wanted some quality coffee. This was such a great spot. Really good CORTADO and a relaxed vibe.

Don’t know what a double latte Italian mocha zinger with a twist Pokemon frothier is? That’s cool, this place makes ordering and explanation of drinks a breeze. They even have a cheat sheet board showing the difference between the different drinks, a feature that keeps even the most novice coffee drinker free from the shame stare by the hipster standing in line behind you. Fear not, the staff is nothing but good people, good vibes, and killer coffee. If you have to ask, I made up the drink mentioned above, but I dare them to put it on the menu.

Great coffee. Great ambiance. Friendly baristas. Also tried a lemon blueberry quinoa harmony bar(to bring down the caffeine jitters ;)) and it was tasty. Yum yum. Loving the ever-growing local roaster scene in North county and Ironsmith is a great addition.

World class espresso drinks: excellent roasts; the owners are constantly refining and experimenting. All the baristas are trained on site and are expert. And it’s a warm, friendly place with a great vibe. Best in SD county. You don’t need latte art to make a great cappuccino but it’s nice to see that the barista cares enough to make the effort.

We met a guy at Lofty’s on Saturday who said this was his favorite coffee house, so we gave it a try this morning. It can be a little hard to find parking near this place. Unless you are on a motorcycle or bicycle. Barristers were friendly and a refill only cost a buck. Coffee was very good and well-presented. They had almond milk, but we prefer soy creamer(compliments coffee better). They have some baked goods, none vegan however. A little warm in there, even sitting at the very front. Too bad those side windows couldn’t pivot out to create a cross-breeze. There’s a nice restroom in the back. It was out of hand-towels when I used it. Easy access for handicapped.

There have been a lot of artisan coffee shops opening up in Encinitas but Ironsmith is one of the best. It has a very Italian inspired environment with minimal seating and primarily espresso drinks. They have a menu with illustrations of the ingredients for each drink(e.g. 1 part espresso, 2 parts milk) which was a very nice touch especially since this information is not necessarily common knowledge. The staff is super nice and the establishment is very clean. I would highly recommend Iransmith for your next caffeine fix. Keep up the good work!

One of, if not the best coffee shops/roasters in the county! Awesome staff, amazing coffee, organic milk… what more could you ask for?! Their attention to detail also translates to an excellent cup of coffee: slayer espresso machine, VST baskets, etc.(that may mean nothing to some people, but trust me, it’s impressive! Highly recommend the Kenya pour-over or any of their espresso drinks. Keep it up guys!

The coffee has such smooth flavor! You can taste the high-quality preparation. Friendly service. The industrial, hip ambiance makes you feel like you wandered into the cool new spot in town. Like, you should be updating your blog here or something. Love the art on the walls! I also like the easy-to-understand drawings by each menu item. They show what parts milk, water, coffee, and foam are in each drink, and that helped me since I don’t know that off the top of my head. Sometimes when I’m looking at coffee menus, I don’t know the difference between the various kinds of coffee drinks.

I love it when a new independent coffee roaster and shop pops up in and starts doing what they do best: coffee. I stopped in and not only had a great Americano, but a wonder cinnamon pecan crumble, similar to a scone, from a local baker. The Americano they made was rich and robust in flavor, and smooth for the most part, except for a slight sourness towards the end. Its aroma was terrific and after two weeks without having one, it was quite the treat. The cinnamon pecan crumble was great and they did not hold back on the crunchy tasty pecans. The crumble, did have a resemblance to a scone, but it was a little more crumbly then one. it was mildly dense with a good moisture level. The amount of cinnamon flavor was just right. These guys who own and work here are quite down to earth and they know there coffees, so you can not go wrong here.
