Ok, so I had a pretty bad first experience with WPT, but I have since been back and love the wings. I also liked Ashley the server/bartender. She was sweet. RIP.

The day before Comic Con 09 was a random adventure that included a baseball game at PetCo Park which happens to be right across the street from WPnT. So after the game(Padres lost 3 – 2 vs Marlins) My friend and I figured we would try some wings at this place. Good amount of flavors to chose from but I went simple with the normal Buffalo and some sweet one i forgot which one it was, but either way it was very quick on the serve and very tasty, the normal buffalo wings are a perfect flavor and spice for me. Also had a small order of fries which was decent but i was too into my chicken: D The price wasnt too bad as i did get pretty ful off 10 wings but my bill was about 13 dollars, so not as cheap as I would like but it still wasnt horrible. I would love to come back and try the others, the waitress was very cute too so that helped, the dude at the door didnt seem too happy but i will take that as he hates to see his Padres lose. Nice set up inside with the bar and TV’s seems very sport friendly as well. Over all a good adventure ended with good food.

Not incredible but solid and the wings are quite good. I’m a picky wing eater — I don’t go for most places/Hooters/etc., but I love good ones and this place can make them. Decent beer selection, friendly staff and bartenders, and tons of TVs. It’s not gourmet and it’s a little pricier than I might prefer, but it’s right around the corner and they gotta pay rent being so close to Petco. If you’re in the area and want some good wings or a decent pizza and some beer, go for it, you won’t regret it.

WPNT(as the East Village locals call it) is one of the best places in the ‘hood to catch any sporting event, period. Tonight, it was the Lakers/Magic game… but it could really be anything from an average Padres game, the NFL playoffs, the Stanley Cup, or the United States Curling World Series. There’s a savvy group of folks enjoying themselves, and enjoying every bit of the action. The food is pretty solid… it’s your basic spread of pub grub on many items, but as their name suggests, the wings are the big attraction. You can order your wings mild, medium, or HOT! And lemme tell you… I’ve hung with some pretty manly dudes, and nothing beats watching ‘em sweat from their eyeballs while trying to down a plate of tender chicken strips. Classic! Plenty of great beers on tap and friendly bartenders as well! All in all, a fab corner spot in the up-and-coming neighborhood of East Village.

I’m not a big fan of bars near Petco because they are“cookie cutter” sorts bars that lack character. I dropped in for a burger & beer. The burger was 1.5 out of 5. Very unimpressed. The bartender was a courteous and likable guy. I won’t go back. If you’re looking for a bar to watch a game, I would recommend East Village Bowl or Gaslamp Tavern.

I really love their garlic parmesan chicken wings and their breadsticks are the perfect compliment. The place is awesome and is a really great alternative to the other places around it. We wanted to watch a UFC fight and Tilted Kilt right across the street had a $ 5 cover. This place didn’t so that was the decisions maker. Stand around their bar to get a glimpse of the tv or sit at a table. A good time and have been there three times. Each time has been great and I haven’t had a bad experience. Went here before a ballgame also and another time during their wednesday 50 cent wing deal. Can’t get better than that.

I must say the first few time I went to WPNT I had a really good time. Drinks were good and there are plenty of TV. s Watching a UFC fight or a football game here rocks and I won’t deny that. What I do have a problem with is some of the wait staff and bartenders. For instance the«British» bartender kept trying to get my group to by some drinks. I have no problem with a bartender hustling to make a buck but what we didn’t like was after telling her we were good about five times she got an attitude with us. Saying we were costing her money and we needed to by more drinks. Well it was noon and there were only two other patrons besides our group there. Because of the bartenders we started to seat at the tables against the wall from then on. The problem with that though seems to be that one of the waitress there seems to always short change our change. I can accept a mistake once or twice but like my friend pointed out last night, she does that every time. We found it a little suspicious that she always states how much change we are supposed to get back like we don’t need to count it. Every time we count our change though and it comes up short. We tell her and she always says sorry and immediately gives us what we are missing. It’s as if she knows she has given us the wrong change. As much as I like the food and the TVs I just can’t got back to a place that makes me feel like they are trying to hustle me instead of providing me with top notch service.

I found WPNT while on assignment here in San Diego and when I read the other reviews, I really didn’t think they gave as many details as they could have. If you like good beer, decent food, sports and Wi-Fi, this is your heaven! Pro #1: Free Wi-Fi– You heard me FREE. You can surf and sip a beer unlike starbucks who makes you pay for wi-fi and only serves coffee and food that is microwaved. In fact, I am writing this review AT the BAR! To me, that’s pretty sweet. Pro #2: College Football. If your in from out of town and need to watch your favorite college football team, this is your place. That is what made me come here in the first place They have TVs everywhere! Pro #3: Beer Pong. On my first day visiting WPNT I was invited to come play beer pong, $ 30 for guys, $ 10 for girls, and a cash prize for the winning team. If you are looking for a crowd and want to remember your college days, call WPNT and ask when the next beer pong tournament is. There was a huge crowd that day and it was a lot of fun meeting people. Pro #4:Indy Films: I was given flyers to view Independent films HERE. I LOVE indy films. I wish I could have come to see them but I wasn’t able to. I think this is a regular event, call WPNT and check on the next showing. Pro # 5: NFL Sunday Ticket. What else is there to say about that. They even have EVERYNFL team’s helmet around the bar. I’m a Charger fan but still, I know what it means to find a place that shows YOUR team. I have places in Lexington, KY where I watch the Chargers play. If you are looking for your game, WPNT will have it. Pro #6: The«HOT Wings» I’m NOT an expert. But then I don’t like buffalo style hot wings. But the wings on the WPNT menu I do like are the Garlic Parmesan and the Spicy BBQ wings. Disclaimer: this is San Diego. From what I hear from those who know wings, we don’t know how to make very good Buffalo Style Hot wings here. Go with the other reviewers thoughts on WPNT’s Buffalo style hot wings. Pro #7: Pizza. Yum. Love the crust. Love the toppings. Personal size available. Pro #8: The Burgers. I LOVED the Hawaiian Burger. They claim to have the best burgers in East Village, can’t find an argument to that. They are made with Angus beef and I’ve had two kinds(mushroom and the hawaiian) and I like the Hawaiian one best. It made my Internal Homer Simpson drool. Pro #9: The Beer on TAP: As of Feb 10, 2009 here is just what they have just on TAP: Bud, Bud light, Miller Lite, Coors Light, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Widmer, Fat Tire, Stone Levitation, Samuel Adams Winter Lager(seasonal) Red Trolley Ale, Fox Barrel, Racer 5 I.P.A., Blue Moon(my fav), Hoegarden(yuck-but hey different strokes), Stella Artois, New Castle, Dos XX, Boddington, Bass and Guinness. Not to mention a full bar and great Happy Hours deals from 3−7pm everyday which include $ 10 Dollar Domestic Pitchers if you are so inclined. $ 3.75 for a 16 oz glass of the good beers and ales. Not too bad. Pro # 10: The wait staff. Matt always remembers me and if there are any sports I want to watch he is quick to get them on one of the many TVs they have. Pro# 11: CLOSE to the Trolley! Close to, One stop on two lines, orange and blue, 12th and Imperial. If you are staying downtown and looking to take the trolley, WPNT is a few minutes walk from this stop. If you’re going to have some adult beverages it’s easy to take the trolley back. Cons: Cheese fries are way too salty, there’s not really any accessable outlets if you wanna come surf the net and need to recharge your laptop batteries, parking sucks and forget about parking during Baseball season!

ok its official. I am just not a fan of Wings and Things. Its the sauce that they cover it in. Mild to hot, it just doesnt appeal to me. I asked for them naked and they said they couldnt do it. I dont understand why they cant just put the sauce on the side or not put it on at all. The wings themselves are nicely cooked and they’re still crispy from the deep fryer. Combos are not cheap imo $ 10 pitchers though. Not bad at all.

Every time I go in this place it is empty. Only about 2 other people are ever in there and they have more staff than patrons. I have only ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and it was better than the wrap at Tilted Kilt so that is a plus and I didn’t have to have nipple pooping out at me when the lady served me my food so another point. The staff has always been nice to me — since it is empty I guess they have no one else to talk to. Sit at the bar, have a few cocktails, watch a few games, and call it a night. I hope they don’t close… seems like a cool place to hang with the Padres are playing.

I was not expecting high quality food when I ordered the Crispy Chicken Strips… but no quality at all? Jack and Carl do a better job. I saw someone mention it was like microwave food which is a great description of what I ate. There was no flavor at all and I tried to salt and pepper it to be edible. I have been here a couple times before and I went one more time to hopefully get a decent meal(want to support the local places)…it did not happen. Also I expirenced almost the same thing that Erin D. described. There was a couple of older guys describing sex stuff too and one of them said that he always gets rejected. hmmm??? wonder why? The server was cool and friendly.

Been here a number of times, typically on a Sunday Morning to catch my fantasy football squad wreak havoc; The Staff who work here are all really nice, everyone is good natured, and you never feel like you are rushed out the door, or anything like that. As far as the food, the wings are good, particularly the lemon pepper wings. A nice touch is that the wings come with carrots and a couple garlic breadsticks, which are greasy, but very tasty. Like another reviewer said, when they get slammed, they are ill equipped to deal with it. But really, its only that busy when there is like 20 games on, and your probably not there to get in and out, so its not a big deal. Great place for nfl football, best HDTV setup I’ve ever seen, and Im from Ohio. We invented sitting inside all day and doing nothing but watch tv and get fat.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE wings, but this restaurant doesn’t live up to its name. I really like that they offer different flavors, but I felt like I was eating sauce and chicken skin. Where’s the meat? But I will give this place credit for always offering great deals on alcohol and food.

The restaurant is FANTASTIC a really great place to take your family or just hang out with the guys. The atmosphere is awesome i haven’t seen so many TV’s/LCD’s in one sports-bar/restaurant, they even has a projection screen for the big events. Its great place to catch a charger game or any sporting event. The bar has 20+ BEERSONTAP and just about any beer or alcoholic drink you may dream up. The staff is fantastic always there when you need something and the food is GREAT! you must try the burgers and the wings are smoking! I’ve been there on several occasions and have been impressed each and every time. WPT keep doing what you do cause you’re doing GREAT!

While at Comic Con today we took one look at the food line and decided it would be smart to grab lunch somewhere in East Village. Our hostess/waitress Kathleen was fantastic! Witty, funny. everything you expect a waitress to be. The restaurant actually did a great job teaching customer service skills. The space is very large, in the future the restaurant will be accommodate a large amount of patrons. In the rear there is a whole other sitting area that housed a buffet bar. There were lots of televisions including one in the bathroom, so this could easily be a great spot for catching a football game and not breaking the bank. We went straight for the buffalo wings, they tasted like uhh buffalo wings? Were they AMAZING? no Were they better than Hooters? oh God yes

Just ate here a few mins ago. First off, I review restaurants with the mindset that they do what they are supposed to do. Is Wings, Pizza«N’ Things = fine dining? No. But if you can’t infer that from the name, then you have other problems. This is a sports bar with sports bar food. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap with a side of onion rings. I also had two draft beers(Fat Tire and Red Trolley). The place wasn’t crowded, but it just opened up four days ago and the Padres have been away since the All-Star Break. As I was leaving, the Comic Con crowd was starting to roll in. My overall assessment is that this place will/does execute as advertised. My bartender was friendly, chatty, and attentive. The food came out hot, in a timely manner, and tasted good. They have about 15 beers on tap and about 15 or so more bottled. They also have a full liquor bar. I heard the bar tender mention that they will be getting 10 more beers in the coming days. This place competes with the Tilted Kilt across the street, but I expect both places to draw good crowds before and after ball games. Also, WPT might be a better place to bring kids than the Tiltled Kilt(I like the TK, but I am a grown«man», if you get my drift) I live nearby and would like to see this place do well. They seem on the ball enough to do so, but only time will tell.

Who in their right mind would have the balls to open up yet another«bar n grill/buffalo wing» type of joint, when San Diego already has its fair share of them? Well, the folks over at Wings, Pizza ‘N Things apparently think they have something to offer this town that the ladies-in-orange-boy-shorts don’t! I went here the night before they opened for a special VIP night. A perky young lady by the name of «Cassie» seated our table. Though she seemed new to the biz, she was always there to ensure that our dining & libation needs were attended to. THEFOOD: I had the opportunity to sample 3 out of 11 flavors of their wings. For their buffalo style wings, they have three levels of spiciness: Hot, Hotter, and«Watch Out!» Well, I went the«Watch Out!» level, and let’s just say I’m still wondering what I need to «watch out» for ’cause it wasn’t very spicy at all. I thought the«Cajun» wing was bland, and the«Spicy BBQ» was not living up to it’s name of spicy. The bottom line for me is that WPNT did a decent job of training their staff on customer service — thanks Cassie & K-ROC for taking care of us — while their chefs may need to re-consider their infamous 11 flavors of buffalo wings. That is, I left this place thinking, whatever the«things» are in their name, doesn’t entice one’s curiosity if you’ve seen what they do with their«wings.»
