Very fashion-forward boutique for men’s and women’s clothing located in the heart of Hayes Valley in San Francisco. Great place to buy extremely well-made, soft, and fashionable pants, shorts, shirts and sweatshirts. I came in with my wife and she ended up buying some pants and a top as well. I would give the clothing a five star rating, but because it’s so expensive it drops down to a four stars for me. You can also get some knickknack items like mugs, jewelry, plates, etc. Worth stopping in!

If I was rating Alternative Apparel on the softness of their clothing, this would be a 5 star review. The clothing definitely meets the definition of soft in terms of its smoothness and being pleasant to the touch. The layout and the décor of the store is on point too-I do like the aesthetics of the store. The customer service is lacking, to the point of the staff being disinterested and borderline rude. That in of itself is enough to make me not go back to store– I will be using the website from here on out.

I love the design of the clothes here and on my first visit I left with two beautiful long sleeved tops. Unfortunately, less than 3 months later and whilst I have been taking extra care of them(cold wash only, hang drying etc), both look like trash. Their beautiful vibrant colors have faded considerably, their soft texture is gone and they look so worn like they are about to rip. Hmm… I’ve never had this happen with any H&M or ZARA clothing so soon and those cost a quarter of the prize of Alternative Apparel items. I will definitely not be returning.

Beautiful wearable clothes, with some really unique designs. The fabric is high-quality, so you know the pieces won’t fall apart after one wash. Got a «vertebrae» bracelet here, and will definitely be visiting lots more for more wardrobe enhancement. Only downside is the price tag, though it seems fair for the quality of items.

Where Anthropologie and American Apparel got together and had a baby… Cute, earthy décor? Check. Comfy basics and bold patterns? Check. Hayes valley boutique feel? Check. Well dressed fashionable people? Check. Accessories that stand out and make you want to buy everything? Check. $$$$ Price tags? Check. Ok.maybe not $$$$. But it’s definitely on the pricey side. Having said that, the store and designs are pretty nice and I would come by to splurge maybe once a year. Or twice. Or anytime I drop by the area again.
