I love this place and come all the time. The other sushi boats in the city are not nearly as good. Sure, it’s a little bit pricey, but it’s sushi and it’s fresh so I don’t mind paying a little more. They have tons of vegan options which is great for the non fish eaters. Plus they have a near perfect health score and you want that from a sushi place! I’ll keep coming back and I hope everyone else does too!

Omg. When I came to Blue C and couldn’t stop hoarding sushi plates as they whizzed by on the conveyor belt, I self-diagnosed myself with impulse control disorder and addictive behavior. In fact, I even accidentally grabbed two plates of the same thing because the Double Shrimp Roll looked so good!(And boo wouldn’t stop laughing at me for that –_-;;) Before I begin my comprehensive review profiling each plate, let me state up front that Blue C is not to be evaluated like an upscale sushi bar with austerely authentic nigiri and doting service; nor is it to be dismissed as any old cheap sushi place. Rather, it strikes somewhere in between the extremes of Kusakabe and Kiki’s – the food is decently delicious, and the ambiance is memorably wannabe-posh-turned-kitschy. The hot dishes even have mini candles underneath to keep them warm! (++) Chilled tofu: I almost never get chilled tofu things at restaurants because it seems like a rip-off for something so simple, but this was surprisingly good. The soft tofu went well with the seaweed and chili-soy sauce blend, making a refreshing appetizer (++) Double shrimp roll: The quintessential fusion roll, abundantly slathered in soy sauce and spicy mayo, filled with cooked shrimp tempura for the faint-hearted.(A bit nostalgic to my teenage pre-sashimi days) (++) Ceviche roll: Creative and nicely executed, tasted exactly like ceviche in sushi form. Didn’t think a strong lime marinade would mesh well with sushi but they pulled it off (++) Salmon black pepper roll: Seasonal special, interesting halfway between a grilled salmon with black pepper entrée and sake roll (+) Shrimp tempura roll: Just ok, got this mainly for the avocado but nothing too special (+/-) Tempura California roll: Hmm, the coating was soggy, though I liked the sweet potato taste to the tempura batter. Would taste much better if it were fresh and hot (++) Ikura nigiri: Yum popping-boba-like ikura! Passed: Rainbow Roll(fish topping didn’t look that fresh), Katsu chicken(looked a bit dry), Katsu Potato(looked like tater tots), Sesame Noodle(looked underwhelming, like something you can make yourself) Service was rather sucky as mentioned by other reviewers, but as long as sushi chefs continue to roll out plates of rolls, I’m satisfied. Sushi boat is self-serve by nature in the first place, though it does lead to some inconveniences. We had to ask twice to get the check even though it was not busy at all, and they also forgot our sake order(which does benefit us in saving $$, I guess). In any case, we didn’t really mind being ignored since the conveyor belt was so fun to watch anyways. Happy hour is a steal at $ 3 plates and totaled to $ 30 for two hungry food-judgmental people who left full and happy. The best part is that it’s *every day* 3−6pm. We came around 4pm for an awkwardly timed linner; it turned out to be a good time because it wasn’t crowded. There were plenty of options on the belt and you get your pick without having to be a sushi plate gunner. Despite the fact that plates can be hit-or-miss and meh service, overall I enjoy the Blue C a lot. The sushi boat experience is unique and entertaining(like the rest of SF), you get your sushi fix at good prices(unlike the rest of SF), and Stonestown has a huge parking lot(unlike the rest of SF).

Last time I’m coming here. Service was really bad and the quality of Sushi has really gone down hill. The Manager stayed in the Kitchen when I asked to speak to him. Really a joke. If you get the waiter with the Man Bun I’m sorry but you are screwed!

Came here on a Friday for an early dinner after surviving another week of grad school. If you’re a student aka on a budget and/or don’t have an ultra discerning palate when it comes to sushi, their $ 3 happy hour is pretty darn good. Literally everything moving along the conveyor belt is $ 3, but you have the option of ordering from their full menu, too. We stuck to the happy hour items and had the potato katsu, Philly roll, tempura California roll, Pacific roll, and salmon nigiri(2 pcs), to name a few. The only roll I wouldn’t get again would be the ceviche roll… it’s creative but I found it to be peculiar mix of ingredients(e.g. orange zest, pico de gallo) to put into sushi. Bottom line: I can’t hate on $ 3 sushi so I’m sold on their happy hour.

Here’s the thing, you can’t possibly expect top quality authentic sushi from a sushi boat joint located in a mall. I mean come on, all the boats come out with a name card describing what’s in the roll. If that’s not dead giveaway, then there are items like chow mien, vegan cupcakes and seaweed salad. With that said, I think Blue-C Sushi does the job whenever I’m craving for a quick sushi roll dinner. In fact, they have pretty good specialty rolls that I actually enjoy. They also have a «Roll of the Month» that’s usually pretty interesting and involves tempura, avocado, teriyaki sauce, tobiko and the likes. They also have off the menu items that are not bad– I recommend the calamari and spicy tuna on crispy rice. The service is always a little slow here. We’re usually onto plate 3 by the time our server gets to us and plate 5 when the water comes out. I’ve never had an issue with getting seated immediately though, but that’s probably because I usually go on weekdays. Bottom line is, Blue C is an ok option if you’re in the area ad craving for sushi rolls. If you’re looking for authentic sushi, I’d say look elsewhere.

Good thing is they have the happy hour from 3pm — 6pm, all plates are $ 3. It attracts me into the store. Bad thing, they only have very limited items on the food line, basically, then I just sat down, I can barely find something to eat. Not much kinds of sushi. They mostly only have some simple rolls, no nigiri, no sashimi. Overall, I might not go back again if they still hv the same thing. Plus, the price during non– happy hour time is kind of expensive. I would rather than going to some other sushi places.

I live so close to this place and figured I have nothing to lose for their $ 3 happy hour. I didn’t have high expectations at all considering its just another hipster place. The saying you get what you pay for nails this place in the head. Crappy, measly sushi rolls(4 pieces) for a low price of $ 3. At first I thought the conveyor belt was cool but once I really thought about it, it’s actually unappetizing and who knows how long each roll has been going around and around!!! Great friendly service but if you’re looking for a no frill, no fuss sushi skip this place. If you’re into hipster places this might be the place for you considering they drench everything in sauce and add random crap like pico de gallo on their rolls.

Everything about this place is just pretty much average. It was clean and the atmosphere was fun and relaxing, and the service was probably below average — but aside from that, all the rolls were nothing more than mediocre. Decent prices, considering how expensive sushi can be. There was really nothing bad about this place, there’s just also nothing to really rave about. I’ll be back if I ever feel like sushi and I happen to be in the area, though. Again, not a bad experiences, just not necessarily a mind-blowing one.

Here’s the thing with this place, you have to come during happy hour 3−6pm(daily) to get the most out of your buck$. All rolls are $ 3 each and so are all the cocktails. $ 3 sushi seemed to good to be true to me at first. But it’s true! The rolls are pretty small(only 4 pieces ea.) so you will most likely have to buy more than one roll to feel truly satisfied. I ordered 3 rolls during my first visit here and honestly I could’ve done a 4th one, but decided it wasn’t the best idea. The service was great. My party of 3 got sat right away and our server was super sweet. This place has a good vibe going on. Cute décor, hip tv on the wall showing you how to make sushi, and a cool sushi belt. I’d only come here during happy hour though. Don’t think it’d be worth the full price for the rolls.

Usually I’m not the type to write a review on a place but the service we got here was unacceptable. First of all, it took about 15 minutes from sitting down to receive just the basic stuff to start eating like, plates, chopsticks, wasabi, and ginger. There were only two parties in the whole restaurant! What kind of place are they running here! I ordered the chicken Katsu bowl and the chicken they served me was the size of my finger cut up into a bowl. Sushi is pretty basic but way overpriced. Save yourself some time and money because any other sushi restaurant in SF will be 10x better than this place. The 5 pieces of sushi I ate could have paid for 4 chipotle burritos next door(sad face :/). Never again will I go to this place…

Nice atmosphere, the rolls are pretty small and expensive for what you get. Not very creative rolls, but a solid conventional selection. The noodle udon was a little too sweet for my taste. It was nice that they have items that you can order on the menu, which are generally a better deal than the conveyor belt sushi. The service was a bit sluggish when I went, because the restaurant requires little maintenance and servers spend time usually standing around and not paying attention to diners. This place is nice if you are lazy and are okay with a more generic experience without having to wait long for your food. There were some families when I visited, so it seems like a better family experience for sushi than most of the more upscale-targeted versions. But, that almost seems like the whole point of sushi in the first place: to be a delicacy and an inspiring experience, than just fast, or fast-casual, food. The prices are basically the same as a traditional sushi spot, once you add up all of the rolls you will be eating here to be considered a filling meal. Go here for a quick lunch with established friends, but not a date or with new acquantences.

I’ve been to Blue C Sushi a few times now and am a huge fan of their happy hour deals. All of their sushi is half off from 3 – 6 p.m. every day! I’ve been here with 2 – 3 other people and we’ve spent no more than $ 50 — that’s pretty good for sushi. While their sushi isn’t the best that I’ve tried, Blue C Sushi does offer a wide variety of rolls and some of their specialty rolls are actually pretty good. Their sushi also comes out on a conveyor belt(similar to Sushi Boat) and each roll is named and has the ingredients labeled. If the rolls you want are not on the belt, you can ask the chefs behind the bar to make you some. Service is okay — can be hit or miss. Never had to wait more than 10 – 15 minutes for a spot at the bar. If you’re at Stonestown or nearby, Blue C Sushi is a good spot for sushi at happy hour prices.

I’ve been to this sushi restaurant a handful of times… and I can say this is one of the best I’ve ever been too. The sushi chef Marko is amazing. The sushi he crafts is beautiful. The roll he made me today was worthy of at least 12 pictures before I dove in face first(it was so delicious by the way). He has an eye for creative plating. The presentation of the roll was phenomenal. He’s super quick with his service, too. I’m never left waiting like at some other establishments. The fish tastes fresh, and though the roll selection is not the most expansive I’ve seen, the ones they do offer are uniquely delicious. My favorites are the Tuna BLT roll(you can’t go wrong with bacon) and the Pacific Roll(because I love coconut shrimp). The seasonal rolls are always good, too, so I suggest you throw caution to the wind and step outside your comfort zone and just eat everything. Do try the Plum Wine Sangria. It’s delicious. No matter how much or how little orange juice is in it. The atmosphere is casual but also very professional at the same time(is that. an oxymoron?). It’s not very large. I like that the sushi chef are essentially imprisoned by the guests surrounding the belt. Consider this — almost 75% of the time I come in here, the belt is entirely empty. HOWEVER — you can just ask the chef for any of the On The Belt rolls/nigiri/sashimi/gunkan and they will make it for you fresh. FRESH! I love it. I prefer when the belt is emptier. Honestly. I love this place. I’m about to make this a weekly visit. 900%. And I am not a regular ANYWHEREELSE in the Bay Area. This will be my exception. 20 Stars hands down for quality of service, food, location, and atmosphere.

This is our go to spot for sushi after gym time. Everything always tastes great and they have such interesting flavor profiles. If you’re looking for something different in your sushi, this is the place to be. Happy hour is great, from 3PM to 6PM, all plates and cocktails after $ 3, which is such an amazing value ! A real treat is when Marko is working behind the sushi belt ! Professional, friendly, and with just the right amount of humor, he is by far my favorite chef. I always need to sit at his end when I’m in there, and he’s super attentive ! I would recommend this spot up and down and all around. Marko is a real treasure and they are lucky to have him !

Good price for happy hour, which is everyday from 3 – 6 pm. $ 3 for items on the belt and specialty cocktails, which is a GREAT price for the $ 7 – 8 cocktails. My friend and I had the tempura California roll, chicken Katsu, cucumber martini, Momo cooler, and a Mai tai. Chicken katsu: 2 small pieces, not recommended. Cucumber martini: the favorite of the day. Refreshing and cool, cucumber taste. Momo cooler and especially the Mai tai tasted very sweet, syrupy. Giving it a 4 because of the cucumber martini.

The concept is fun. Getting to choose what you want off of a conveyor belt and it’s all already made for you and you don’t have to wait? Fun. Problem is they don’t feel as fresh — which is kinda a thing I like when it comes to sushi. Also, many of the spaces on the conveyor belt were empty — so even though theoretically we could have picked what we wanted«self-serve» we ended up having to order it from the waitress. Once we ordered the service was quick. Although I just felt weird pushing a button to have the server come… something impersonal about that I guess. The staff was friendly. And well, the flavor just wasn’t all that impressive. Not bad, but as two stars says. «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» Much better. If I go back I’d like to try some of their kitchen items — like the teriyaki bowl or tempura bowl — they sounded good.

Why so many negative reviews? This place is clutch for happy hour, I don’t know why so many Unilocalers are so salty about this place. Let me start off by saying they have DAILY happy hour from 3 — 6, every dish is 3 bucks, what also stood out is the $ 3 Sapporo draft and $ 5 pbr pitcher, yup 5 bucks for a pitcher. As far as the sushi goes, I’ve never been a fan of revolving sushi bars, in my opinion it’s not bad but not great, the fish is definitely fresh however they put a little too much rice. Would I come back if it wasn’t happy hour? Probably not, however I will definitely be back for happy hour. Great to start off your night if you need to pregame. Ps: if you go and it’s not happy hour their dishes range from 2.50 to 5.50, if ure in the area at 3 pm give it a try.

I saw the Unilocal rating. I read the reviews. However, I still had to check out Blue C Sushi for myself. Partially because they’re just the second kaiten sushi joint in the city(told you I can be a sucker for gimmicks), but also because they’re located so much more conveniently than Japantown. All this, despite the fact that I already knew there was a better than even chance that my experience would be less than stellar… On the surface, Blue C Sushi looks the part, what with its trendy-ish décor and vibe. To give it an even more modern feel, there’s a bar to the side when you first walk in and a wall of TV screens that flash through a variety of images and clips. Mostly superficial, but I do like how the dishes sit on labeled«stands» to identify what some of the rolls are. Plus, they all have covers/lids to protect the food, which is nice given how long the conveyor belt snakes for( ). – SALMONNIGIRI…$ 4.50 ( ) On par with what you would expect from a kaiten/sushi boat place — better than Asian buffets, but far below even an average sushi joint. The fish was decently fresh, but the cuts weren’t very large/thick and there was a lot of rice, which didn’t have a ton of flavor. – SEATTLEROLL — Salmon, Avocado, Cucumber, Masago…$ 4.50 ( ) A fairly standard roll that was done decently well, surprisingly enough. Hard to mess up a natural pairing like avocado and salmon. Plus, while the salmon and shari were still underwhelming, at least it wasn’t as noticeable in this case. – DOUBLESHRIMPROLL — Shrimp Tempura, Cooked Shrimp, Cream Cheese, Cucumber, Masago, and Sauce…$ 5.50 ( ) The typical sort of «jive ass roll» you’d expect to see, but this could have worked at a regular restaurant. I say«could have» because, while everything meshed well, the roll was cold. Had the tempura been warm and crispy, it might have made this the sort of «jive ass roll» I’d get. – CHICKENKARAAGE…$ 5.00 ( ) Maybe not the worst I’ve had, but close. Honestly, it just looked wrong, especially with how the batter«drippings» looked like little fingers. Plus, the chili sauce made it feel more Chinese than Japanese. Less of an issue if it tasted good, but the chicken was really overcooked, both inside(dry) and out(there’s crispy batter and then there’s CRUNCHY batter). While the slate of dishes/sushi they have to offer is pretty varied(both on the belt as well as off the menu), nothing that I tried stood out(obviously). What’s more, nothing that I saw parading down the conveyor belt impressed much either, so perhaps ordering off the menu is the way to go. Although, that would NOT include the karaage. For the convenience(ample free parking), as well as the novelty, Blue C Sushi may not be terrible. However, beyond coming here for the kaiten sushi for the sake of experiencing kaiten sushi, just head elsewhere. I know I’ll be reminding myself of that in the future as well. ONEAND A HALFSTARS rounded up, just because the service was so friendly.

We decided to come here because we saw the happy hour sign for $ 3 sushi plates and drinks(3PM-6PM). I came in not knowing it was conveyor belt style. All the plates at happy hour are $ 3 except for the silver colored plates that remained $ 2.50. The place wasn’t very crowded around 3PM on a Wednesday. However, a lot of the plates on the belt were empty. On our forty minute or so stay I didn’t see half of the items such as the octopus nigiri, tamago nigiri and some of the rolls. I was unimpressed by the sushi. Too much rice in proportion with the fish. A lot of the rolls were either spicy or had cream cheese and not your standard sushi roll. +1 star that the plates were labeled and descriptive of each item. +1 star for the salmon nigiri. And there was no unagi :(They also had desserts on the belt too which looked like they were circling and went untouched. The prices were decent at happy hour but pricy at regular times for the amount of pieces you get with each plate.

What can you buy for $ 1? Apparently sushi! $ 1 for anything on this sushi boat! Yes, YOU read that right, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING on the boat is $ 1. Usually I’m a kidder, but I’m posting pics to prove that this time, it’s NOJOKE! Limited time of course, so saddle on up to the conveyor belt and grab that seared tuna, soft shell crab, gyoza, REAL crab(make sure you choose the snow crab for real crab) california roll, and whatever plate suites you. This is a limited time offer and my friends and I are taking advantage of this every day until it ends. The service here is awful, asked for tea multiple times and never got it. The hostess said it’s a ½ hour wait, but it’s actually an hour and 9 minutes, yes we timed the wait. It’s super crowded because of this promotion, but man, once you’re seated it’s like the Gladiator movie, «Let the games begin.» For $ 1 a plate, I’m grabbing all the unagi, seared sliced tuna, rainbow roll, spicy tuna, anything that strikes me as something I would like to eat and I just go for it. Forget dinner, this is my breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and I’m making it count. This has been my second day in a row and usually the bill averages $ 11-$ 13. I mean that’s basically translates to 11 – 13 plates! No they don’t add too much rice, but it’s not supremely high quality either. The soft shell crab is cold, but hey for $ 1, I’m not going to complain. When this promotion ends, expect to pay $ 4-$ 6 per plate, so run on in here while you can and get your sushi fix. Grab, shovel it in your mouth since they have a time limit, and enjoy it while you can!
