Pros: their open late Cons: it’s not very clean and the food is very greasy. Bottom line: if you are hankering for Chinese food at 2 am with no other option, then this is your place.

They recently changed the name of this restaurant and revamped the menu(not sure if the owner changed?) but the servers and general setup are all the same(they only added some decorations as far as I can tell), so I didn’t expect much to be different. Overall, service is pretty slow and as with many Chinese restaurants, they don’t emphasize customer service much. They also don’t use a sign-in system, so you basically have to stand in line if you want to be seated according to when you arrived. The restaurant is also pretty«dirty», in that the floors are kind of sticky and the tablecloths stained all over. Even when busy, I’ve seen other Chinese restaurants maintain cleaner dining spaces, so they could certainly do better in this respect. On the up side, they are open late and they have a wide selection of dishes(seafood, meat, fish, vegetables, noodle soup, dessert — you name it, they probably have it) and most of them are decent quality. Some of the seafood(like shrimp) and vegetable dishes are on the pricier side(but still pretty affordable), but the fillet dishes and teppanyaki meats(served on an iron griddle) are especially worth the price. Also, if the menu says the dish is spicy, then it’s definitely spicy. If you need it made any other way, make sure to tell them when you order! They also serve chrysanthemum tea, which is pretty good. I come frequently because of the price and quantity. The food is decent and I always end up with a bunch of leftovers, but it’s definitely not one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area(just one of the cheapest).

UPDATE. Came in again, same guy as before was our server. We asked him if there was a new owner, he said that the owner had gone back to China and had decided to update the restaurant. So, same people, slightly different menu, still one of our favorite places.

My family saw this place on the News paper and wanted to try it out and we went to this place. The place is a bit messy in my opinion and we were seated by the door. Whenever someone opened the door, we will get hit directly(not by the door but the cold air from outside). We ordered their most famous smoked pork with Chinese style pizza and a bowl of sea food noodles soup. The smoked pork was okay, but the smoked flavor was not enough. The sea food noodles soup was okay. Overall, we didn’t tried too many dishes and it’s not fair to state their food is not up to quality. But at least the food that we ordered were okay, but wouldn’t really go back at all

Rude! A waiter girl with glasses and skinny wanted to get through while I was waiting. Instead of saying excuse me she just said move away and pushed me aside. Never coming back to this shithole.

New menu — pictures for the uninitiated. Dishes bring the heat. Ordered the spicy seafood noodle soup and green onion pancake — an excellent way to warm up on a rainy evening. Everyone else was ordering lamb soup, so will have to try that next time. Friendly service and open late night.

I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with Happy House. But in the end, I’m sad to see it go. The new place is radically different. Menus changed, and the staff aswell. Our favorite waiter seems to be gone. Our party of 6 ordered an assorted amount of items, some new and sold old to the menu. Nothing came out quite right. All of us were old, loyal customers to Happy House, eating here atleast twice a month. We agreed unanimously to not come back. Come back Happy House! Where did you go?!

changing my five star review to a one star review. I went here three nights in a row, paying cash. I enjoyed the service and they were great hosts. I walk in today and realize I don’t have cash to supply for their $ 20 minimum. Again… I went here three nights in a row and my total order amounted to $ 15 tonight. Not complaining about the minimum, but rather how the Asian guy dealt with me not having it. Guys name is Danny I think. He rudely yelled at my party and when we tried to talk with him he stormed off to the back kitchen. He didn’t allow us to speak with any of the other staff. So unfortunate that they lost a customer and I lost a place to get a meal. There’s almost a similar place RIGHT across the street, would recommend going there instead. Seems like mostly all workers smoke and it looks like they don’t wash their hands before returning to work. Will never come here again until I hear from the manager. Food is good, but it’s not worth the hassle with these workers.

DON’T EATHERE!!! THEYDISCRIMINATE IF I COULDGIVE0STARS I WOULD My family and I used to come here all the time. But after our last experience, NEVERAGAIN. My parents and I ordered the usual. Expecting it to be good, we dug right in. EXCEPTTHISTIMETHEFOODWASSALTYASSHIT. It literally felt like we were eating salt. We kindly asked our server why it was salty and if he could make a new one for us. BUTHEHADTHEAUDACITYTOJUSTGLAREATUSANDTAKEAWAYOURPLATEANDTHROWOUROTHERDISHONTHETABLE. The fuck is that? The cooks of the restaurant were eating at the table next to us and they started talking shit in Chinese saying that we are Vietnamese and we don’t know how to eat Chinese food. LITTLEDIDTHEYKNOWWE’REHALFCHINESEANDVIET. My dad responded to them in Chinese and their faces were priceless. One of the cooks actually came to our table and started arguing with my dad telling him there’s nothing wrong with his cooking and that we just don’t know how to eat Chinese food. And while he was talking HE «ACCIDENTALLY» SPIT A PIECEOFRICEONMYFACE. Who the fuck treats their PAYINGCUSTOMERS like that. Discriminating piece of shits! Don’t come here they don’t deserve business.

Decent price, pretty large serving size, and fairly reasonable price, it’s not a fancy place you take someone there to impress, but it’s good for average family outings. Last week my friend’s family and I ate there for less than $ 80 total on 4 dishes and 1 large soup. — large wild mushroom soup — I liked it a lot, guess I am a mushroom eater. =) — shrimp with Chinese Si Gua — clean and fresh — Hai Nan chicken — way better than the serving at Mango Garden down the street, I liked this one a lot too. — sizzling plate eggplant — steamy hot and crispy fried eggplant sandwich with a bit of meat in the middle, a bit drowned in starchy sauce, but otherwise decent. —(4th dish I forgot, sorry guys!) but again, generous portion size. Will take family here next time!

My friend and I ate at this restaurant a few days ago, and we thought the food was okay. We ordered the eggplant and fish filet dish, which was relatively tasty, but also pretty oily. There were a few pieces of eggplant that weren’t fully cooked, but it still wasn’t that bad. We also ordered the bochoy and mushroom. The bochoy tasted fine, but the mushroom was oddly sour. Towards the end of the meal, I was eating one of the last pieces of bochoy and decided to split it apart because it was too big. Unfortunately, I found dirt in it and felt pretty disgusted. My friend took the other piece of bochoy and also found dirt in it, too. We complained to the waiter, and he reported it to the cook. He came back and told us that we ate most of the dish otherwise they could have given us a refund or exchanged a different dish for us. He also added that the dirt was just a stain on the bochoy… Okay, how were we supposed to know that there was dirt in it from the beginning? Were we supposed to instinctively check for it from the start? In the beginning, I bit into the end of the bochoy, but at the end I decided to split the piece with my chopstick, and that was how I found the dirt. I honestly would have felt fine if the waiter was at least apologetic or showed some sort of remorse. But he had this attitude, and the expression on his face showed that he was ready to argue as if we did something wrong. My friend wanted to argue with him for a refund, but I felt so uncomfortable with the situation, so I just wanted to leave. We ended up leaving without paying a tip. This place was disgusting, and the customer service was horrible. I’m never coming back.

Good service for an asian spot. Lots of diff kind of food. Prices are cool. Portions are good enough for a hungry guy. Open 11a to 3a. Free boba. Ask for a cup of ice. rice 1 Dollar per person That is what’s up. Accept credit cards. Don’t order breaded meat

I think the taste of the food ranges differently depending on which hours you go to. I’ve came here three times these past 3 months. Once was around close to midnight. Lunch time. And past midnight. Close to midnight: It was delicious. They even have boba milk tea left. It tasted like authentic Chinese food where it’s not too oily. Lunch time: Still good. But there wasn’t any boba in our milk tea. Past midnight: It tasted really bland. And we didn’t even get milk tea. I would come here again because this is great place to come to when I’m hungry after midnight.

Great for food at 2−3am because it’s quite possibly the only and cheapest place for food around! We tried: 3 cup chicken, salt and pepper pork, and clay pot beef? 3 cup chicken = too sweet and not savory enough.(I recommend Red Hot Wok for this dish) Salt and pepper Pork = onions were delicious according to my onion aficionado, not sure if that’s really a good thing because to me, it was just onions. The pork needed more S n P. Clay pot beef = onions, red and green bell peppers, beef all seasoned with a heavy hand of black bepper. The clear winner of the 3, but still just mediocre. Décor: none Service: they’ll come to you when you signal them Speed: it’s 2am, nothings moving as fast as you wish Specials: 3 orders to go is $ 20(cash only) is a great deal! Menu: lots of options, love that they use pictures! Overall, they close at 3am and won’t call the cops on you for being drunk, laughing historically, and eating their food.

As you can tell, my relationship with this restaurant is quite back and forth. I think it’s fair to up their rating as I find myself back here for some late night post drinking food. As long as none of the servers are sick, this place is okay. The wait can get long at times. I don’t suggesting waiting more than 20 minutes for a seat. The food tends to be more on the oily side. Full menu is available for lunch and dinner, but not everything is available for late night — however, they don’t tell you which ones are not available until you try ordering it.

Happy house is a pretty good restaurant. Admittedly they are a bit slow with their orders and cooking; however, they are nice and prompt with their service. This is especially true since it is pretty authentic Chinese food, and not to be racist as a Chinese myself, but a lot of Chinese servers tend to be curt and rude. But in this case they were great! The food selection was great, offering pages upon pages of options for the hungriest of bellies. I also liked the complimentary milk tea and regular tea. The food itself was very tasty and fairly cheap, averaging between $ 6 – 11. Overall I would give this place a solid 4 stars, and if I could I’d push for a 4.5. Try them out, late nights — I don’t think you’d regret it. Just be prepared that there’s about a 10 – 15 minute wait between ordering your food and it getting to your table. So if you want some majorly fast food go down the street to McDonald’s.

I have been here 2 or 3 times before. and I thought the food was alright. Not bad, not amazing. Just cheap Chinese food. However, today I went back for lunch and maybe I was just really hungry or something. but the food was SOGOOD. Upon entering, we were greeted by the host, and he asked us right away if we wanted milk tea or the soup. Our table got both, and I thought they were both good! THEMILKTEAHASPEARLSINITNOW! It was a nice surprise because before it was just milk tea. The soup is also REALLY good! But then again, I always love some delicious clear broth. THESAUCESHERE(at least for the dishes I ordered) are ONPOINT! I ordered the fish with mu er(fungus?.. I know it sounds weird but it’s good), sweet and sour chicken, and beef and Chinese broccoli. All three dishes were so good, and I think it’s because of the delicious sauces the food is sitting in! The beef was so tender and DELICIOUS, and I felt healthy eating the Chinese broccoli. The fish pieces were so soft and the sauce really made the dish for me. Then there was the sweet and sour chicken. I really liked the sauce. haha how much do I have to say I like the sauce? :P Anyways, the only thing that bothered me about the sweet and sour chicken was not enough meat. a lot of flour. Since they fry it, I felt like when I bit into each piece. there was more«fried» than chicken. But it’s okay. because sauce. Basically, the chicken pieces look generous. but it is all just flour. It’s okay though. I would still order it again: P The food came out pretty quickly, and all seemed really fresh and hot! Oh yeah, and they are also served with a huge bowl of rice! The food here is extremely cheap. The fish dish was $ 7.50 and the beef and chicken dish were $ 6.50 each! This is their lunch time special. I would definitely recommend coming here for their lunch deals! CHEAP, delicious, and fresh. what more could you want? Looking forward to coming back :)

I enjoy this restaurant for dinner, but every time I eat here I feel extremely sluggish afterwards, and not necessarily because I ate too much. Most of the dishes here are extremely greasy, and though I expect Chinese restaurants to be that way, Happy House does go a little overboard with the oil. However, the food is generously portioned and is cheaper than other places. The lionhead meatball was the least oily dish I ordered. Very saucy, tender, but not spectacular. Had sauteed eggplant with fish filet. Love the garlic taste in this dish, the eggplants were very yummy! Interestingly they peel the eggplant. I would order this again, I love garlic eggplant. Mushu pork — Average! Tender meat, but nothing spectacular. Shui zu niu was average. Felt like it didn’t have that much beef, and the spiciness wasn’t that strong either. They give you a huge, HUGE bowl of it, but it’s mostly soup. Red bean rice patties — VERY good. Comes out hot and fresh, give it a try if you like glutinous rice desserts! Service could improve, yes, especially because when I go, it’s not extremely busy, but you will have to tell everything to the waiter twice… If you come here too late, they run out of milk tea.
