I think as far as Korean owned Chinese restaurants go, Shang Yun is very good :) It’s kind of nice to get some kimchee or pickled veggies at the beginning of the meal and then having the option of Za Zhang Noodles or Beef Noodle Soup. The many times I have been here have always been positive experiences. This place quickly became a favorite of my family. I am a huge fan of the Liang Zhang Pi, which is a clear noodle type dish that I’m not sure how to translate, but yea, really good and generous proportions. I hope this place will be able to last. Take out is always good and easy from here too. Handmade noodles are amazing as well :)

Pretty good Chinese/Korean food for a good price. I heard this place is under the same ownership as Tong Soon in Santa Clara. I think it is slightly worse than Tong Soon but it’s still pretty good and I am willing to go back. The service here is really really excellent. The ladies here are super nice!

The owners of this place are the ones from Tong Soon Garden Restaurant on El Camino. They’ve recently branched out to this place and it is just as good. My family pretty much knows the owners because we’ve been going to Tong Soon for over 10 years(family favorite!). The lady is very sweet, and I’m not just saying that because I know her! The crispy tofu appetizer is very good, but don’t dip the whole tofu into the sauce because it is kinda salty in my opinion. My favorites at this place is their zazang noodle(the black one) and the spicy shrimp! I get the shrimp almost every time I go, unless my dad makes me order something else. You should definitely try this place out :)

Good mom and pops place and I hope that they do well. The folks here are truly nice and speak both Korean and Chinese. My review is really 3.5 stars, but here is my criticism: The champon broth is too fishy. They need to use fresher sea food for this«specialty.» The Ja Jong Mein is not bad. That would be what I get here.

The chefs are Korean so it’s better to order the Korean dishes than the Chinese dishes. I had their seafood pancake and it was a little under-cooked. The owner lady speaks both Mandarin and Korean so you can chat with her if you speak either language. She is very friendly. She has been in the restaurant business for twenty-plus years and had owned restaurants in other Bay Area cities. This location is apparently not attract much business so it may be gone fairly soon.

They have really good jajangmyeon(black sauce noodles) and good jjambbong(spicy seafood noodles). Went this past weekend with my fiancée and her family but was not really impressed from the outside. The food was actually really good. May have to give it another try. Service was really nice and friendly. Tea was actually really good.

I’ve followed the owner of Shang Yun as a little kid. Back when it was in the Cupertino/San Jose area off of Kentwood over 2 decades ago. Then she opened Tong Soon Won, and we continued to go as faithful followers, especially since my grandma loves their food. Their food is comfort Chinese-Korean food for us, especially their noodle dishes. We heard the owner opened up a new restaurant near our home, so we decided to check it out. It’s a bit smaller, about a dozen tables or so, in the Saratoga/Payne plaza. We decided on zza zzang myun(black bean noodle), jjamp bbong(spicy seafood noodle) and spicy fried chicken(in korean — la-jo-gee). We wanted fried dumplings, but she was honest with us, and said they were not homemade. Yuck. No thanks. She gave us fried tofu with a dipping sauce as a service for visiting her restaurant. It was fresh and good. The noodle dishes came out, and like her past restaurants, they’re huge portions! The zza zzang myun was tasty, as well as the jjamp bbong, but the noodles, I didn’t care for as much, which is my favorite part. They were a bit thicker and chewier, almost store bought like. Also, the fried chicken, we expected it to be cut pieces of chicken fried in the spicy sauce. Instead, we got a huge platter of chicken wings in the sauce. Very dissapointed. There were lots of veggies in the dish that were good, but I didn’t care for the chicken wings at all. All the fatty skin bothers me. We did later ask if this dish is normally wings or cut pieces of chicken, and she said we had to specify, but typically it is wings. She felt bad and offered to trade it out, but it was too late when we asked, and we decided to just suck it up. Overall, they have a good menu and fair prices, but I am more used to the cook’s food at Tong Soon Won, so prefer driving a little farther to go there. Service is pretty good, and since the restaurant is small, they are very attentive. Clean interior as well, and lots of parking in front.

Yay, this restaurant still exists! We used to eat here long ago as kids when it was across from the Nob Hill in Cupertino. I was really sad when I thought they closed. Imagine my delight to see their ‘coming soon’ sign while eating at Dan! Solid Korean fried chicken, authentic jajiang mien(Korean style), and friendly service :). Will definitely be back… there’s a bit of nostalgia in this place for me, but I also need to try some of the other old staples to see if they too are as good as they used to be.

The restaurant is not too big but cozy. The service is very nice and friendly. We ordered«Cold and Hot combination plate with pork» which is really delicious. Their homemade noodles are their specialties. We love black bean suaced noodle and seafood noodle soup. Fried rice is good too. We will definitely come back again and enjoy the food there. BTW, the address is 1310 Saratoga Ave. San Jose, CA, 95129

Finally, a real Korean-style Chinese restaurant has come to this area. I ordered Zha-Zhang Mien(black bean sauce noodle) and Korean style sweet and sour beef and it was just too good to be true. Thank GOD that I don’t need to drive all the way to El Camino when I have Korean-style Chinese food cravings.

The food wasn’t very good. The service was just awful, we were the only ones there and they acted like they were too busy to help us. You would think they would try harder to give a good impression since there are so many chinese food restaurants in the area.
