Sonic Drive-In

Terrible experience. Jose the «manager» on the shift seemed impatient on the phone while trying to resolve the issue. My meal was cold, missing several items. Came back to speak with someone face to face, just to be told to come back at a later time. This will be my last time at sonic.

The food is prime. Prices could be better. And they always, every single time, forget to bring me my damn ranch dressing.

Seems like every time I go there and order, the people there are very uneducated and hard to order and feels like I’m talking to a 12 year old. Food is alright as well. Im giving two stars for their happy hour drinks.

First experience at a Sonics even though there’s one closer to home. Was in the area and needed to grab a bit quickly and decided to try the place out.
As a newbie Sonic customer I found the process of ordering at the car very nice… didn’t feel the pressure to order right away and got a chance to look at the entire menu. Still a pretty large menu and it did take time and just pressed the button when I was ready.
Got the tots, burger, and chili dog. The burger was a lot larger than we expected. thumbs up. Although I thought I read the menu thoroughly, we didn’t see the junior or small burger in the deals area.
Overall good experience… now just gotta try the shakes everyone talks about.

Love there hotdogs got wings though tonight omg they were not good just all sauce and so fucking hit not even a good hot just hot very disappointed

Sonic has tempted me for years with all of their commercials. So, when they finally came to town I couldn’t wait to have some of those milkshakes, sundaes, and hot dog creations. Well, I’m sorry to say that Sonic has been a big disappointment. I’ve tried their food 3 times now, just to make sure that I’m sure that I don’t like it
The first time we came to Sonic was the Kearny Mesa location. We got dinner for 5. 3 kids and a mom and dad. The food was bland and just plain bad. The next time we came… It was just for dessert. Again, bland! How can anyone ruin dessert? I am very sorry to say this about you, Sonic…
The service is always good, though! The young people that work at Sonic were awesome! They did thier best! The resturants were clean, the selection was great, and the prices are good. But, the food just doesnt deliver.

Omg. We just paid 5.75 for two large sodas. Happy hour here really IS cheaper. They do have the very best sodas, cups and ice. I am a soda consumer fanatic so I know.
Lines can be really long so we always check before going in the drive thru line.
Love the tater tots. If I could eat here every day without worry about weight gain or a heart attack, I’d do it.

I had a great experience this time at Sonic. On a drive home from dinner with my family, I suggested that we pop by Sonic for a little late night ice cream fix. I have a bit of a sweet tooth and I hadn’t been to Sonic for a while. I generally drive by and consider getting into the line that protrudes from the driveway and spills over into Mission Gorge. Well, it was after 930 and there was virtually no line this time.
We ordered a cake batter waffle cone and a custom order oreo cookie and butter finger master blaster. I love oreo cookies and I love butter finger candy bars. The fact that these guys will whip both up together with some ice cream and top it with whipped cream just makes my day every time I order it. LOL!
Their waffle cones are good like they are at the fair. My wife really enjoyed the cake batter sprinkle ice cream. I had a bite, it was epic!
I recommend this spot for dessert, primarily. The hot dogs are pretty good too, if you’re craving a hot dog. I can’t say much for their cheeseburgers, I never really thought of them as anything special. The toaster sandwich is the way to go, in my opinion. And who could forget about the slushys? You can order a slushy with nerds candy, and I love both of those things, especially candy!
Get in the car and go pick up some dessert around 930 pm, you will not be disappointed!

I love this place! I went there tonight and had the pineapple upside down cake shake and it was AMAZING! Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, at the bottom were tons of little cookies! YUM!
The car hops are always so helpful and friendly too! The tots are heaven! The service is fast and efficient!

Worst Sonic I have ever EVER been through. Pulled up to a car stall, pressed the button. Girl gets on the speaker and says «I’m sorry I’m currently unable to take orders for the next 10 minutes because we are busy» so I sit and I wait. Meanwhile all the other cars are putting in their orders. Seriously?
Their credit card machines in the car stall were not working. I pressed the button again and it stayed lit up until the car hop brought the food to the card. I told him I was trying to pay with the card. He then said the machines had gone down. He was actually going to bring the food back inside for a few minutes until the machines came back up. Luckily I had cash and just gave him the cash, but still it pissed me off and left a bad taste in my mouth.
You have been warned. If this particular location happens to be busy, just drive on. They do not know how to multitask, they do not know how to work efficiently when it’s busy.

SO GROSSED OUT!!! We went after 9pm to order 2 blasts and a shake. It wasn’t busy so we ordered from the drive-​thru window. We were watching a female employee make our blasts and shake when a male employee walked over to see what she was doing. I thought he was checking to see if she was making it right, but then I saw him eating out of the bins that are filled with ice cream toppings. He licked his fingers and then ate more toppings. Then he wiped his hands on his pants (butt cheek area). IT WAS DISGUSTING! I told the woman who took our order what I just witnessed and let her know I would not be paying and that I did not want our desserts. We won’t be going to this Sonic again!

This place is trash. Whoever makes the shakes after 8pm is trash. I can’t remember the last time I was able to get a shake without waiting 5 years

Worst service!
We’ve been to multiple other Sonic locations, so we had a certain expectation.
We arrived around 9:15pm, and pulled into one of the drive-​in spots. As I rolled down my window, I heard someone say on the speaker «I’m sorry, we really backed up right now, all food and drink orders will take about 15min to come out. Is that ok?» I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to stay with a 15 min wait and she said sure. So we took about a minute to decide what we wanted, and I hit the «order» button. We waited… nothing happened.
We sat for 10 min with no one responding to our call, despite me pressing the button a few more times. I finally got out, and stopped an employee. At this point, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, I asked «Is our microphone broken? Because no one is answering». He informed me that they were very busy, and so they were not answering any of the Drive In calls at this time. I was shocked, and asked if he knew how long before they started answering again. He said no.
We sat for another 15 min and were about to leave, when finally someone came on. It took him a solid 5 minutes to take our 5 item order… it sounded like he wasnt really paying attention to what I was saying. We waited another 20 min for our food, and by now we were starving.
We we checked the food, BOTH of our hot dogs were the completely incorrect dog. The waiter took them, and it took him another 5 min to exchange.
So finally after getting our food, we ate, and left.
We will NEVER go back to this location.

My kids love this place. The actual food is OK. Hamburgers etc. I really like their drinks. Seriously so many choices! Ocean water is my favorite. My kids like the crazy combinations. They never get the same thing twice. Why would you? The options are seemingly endless. The drinks are why we go. There is a daily happy hour that makes them affordable. Otherwise the drinks seem a little pricy for sodas. And the ice. The ice is a favorite too. And you can buy it in bags to take home. It’s special ice. You’ll see. The kids like to go so they can order from the speaker at the car hop and they bring you the food on roller skates. There is a drive through as well.

Sonic, you will always have some of the best shakes in my eyes.
This location however is a tease because it takes almost a half hour to get your shakes when you pull up to their side terminals, or whatever the heck you call it.

Lovin the half price shakes after 8pm! Buuuut my simple order just seems a little complicated… oreo shake, no whip 2 cherries. Got my shake no cherries so the nice young lady said she’d bring me some. Stir my shake around and I’m not seeing any oreo. I loathe sending food back but this was entirety unacceptable. She politely said she’d bring me another and the second one was perfect!
Don’t expect much as far as order accuracy, but the customer service is good.

They managed to mess up my order during the end of someone’s shift, but the last working guy skated over finally apologized for the extreme long wait very politely and made it up by giving the order for free.
Definitely not his fault, but the fault of whoever planned him in as being the only one until closing (at leas that was the blame).
As far as customer service, perfect with solutions. But let it be convenient!
Their strawberry cheesecake shake was suprisingly very good!

Pathetic service. After two previous disasters that I had written off to a) they had just opened and were overwhelmed and b) a machine had broken down (although they could have told me when I ordered not when I got to the window). I was talked into trying Sonic again for a quick dinner while running errands in Santee.
HUGE mistake!!!
Again their service SUCKED. The girl first confused frozen lemonade with regular lemonade, a mistake I was willing to live with but after telling me that the food did not come with onions after I stated twice «no onions». Low and behold we get home with $ 26 in food smothered in white onions (indelible in our household’s opinion). Can’t even give to the dog as onions are not good for canines.
I call the «management «and am told I could drive back (20 minutes) to get the food replaced or give them my name and I could go back another time for a discount.
Do you REALLY think a dissatisfied customer would drive and try you again? They obviously know most won’t thus there is no incentive to actually perform accurately
Do yourself a favor and avoid this Sonic. It does not live up to the standards of the chain and will do its best to cheat the public.

3 stars feels about right.
The food is generally pretty bad but it’s crazy cheap so I can’t be too hard on them.
The tater tots are decent and the onion rings are pretty good. The corn dog is not bad, either. After all that, you are on your own with the rest of the menu.
Service is fine and the novelty of ordering from and eating in the car is kind of fun.
It’s cheap, average food.

PEANUT BUTTER BACON MILKSHAKE, I am a fan! This milkshake had a fair amount of bacon too, My shake was sweet, salty, smooth and crunchy=YUMMY4MYTUMMY
My first Sonic stop and I was reeled in hook, line and sinker. Just throw a milkshake my way that has bacon in it. LOL
Add in the rollerskates. Corn dogs and tater tots.
This place holds many simple joys. A corn dog on a stick, tater tots that have chili and cheese. Milkshakes of multiple flavors. Service on rollerskates and the coin changed that is so old school.
I like how they have the old fashion way of being able to sit in your car at the drive in and eat. Place your order from your car. When I was a kid, going to the local A&W to get food delivered to your window was a BIG DEAL. Coming to Sonic is like a throwback to my childhood.
The high tech way of ordering if you not in your car was a bit of an adventure. Push the button to speak into the mouthbox. Order you food and if you want pay with your credit card right there. I did this and it worked. The only down side is that I didn’t have any cash on my so I couldn’t tip my rollerskating friend who served me food and my milkshake. Brought me extra napkins and condiments. Sorry Josh with the #100 bracelet on. You totally rocked in service but I didn’t have cash on me to tip you… an the mouthbox that you order from doesn’t give the option to tip when you pay by credit card.
