I went to Masu with my friend this past week and I must say that it’s a pretty good Japanese restaurant with great prices! I wound up getting the shrimp tempura and the chicken teriyaki entrée and my friend got the chicken teriyaki and sashimi bento box and we both thoroughly enjoyed our food. There wasn’t too much teriyaki sauce on my chicken which made it pretty enjoyable to eat and the shrimp tempura felt really light as opposed to some other places that I’ve been to where the tempura has been very heavy. The best part about this place is probably the service because we had really good servers who were really accommodating to my many requests(I always need to drink out of a straw, I can’t use chopsticks, and I want another bowl of rice instead of salad yikes) so I was very happy with the service they had. Overall this is one of the better Japanese restaurants that I’ve been to and I highly recommend it if you’re in the Saratoga area!

Apparently I used to come here a lot during my early elementary school years, but I hardly remember the experiences. Parents and I decided to come here for dinner on a Sunday night. Chilly sashimi, some of the best salmon I’ve had in a while, friendly service, but I was very disappointed in their chirashi. Their chirashi dinner is presented in a pretty strange way. Instead of being in a traditional bowl, it is on a plate and with a messy bulk of sushi rice. Instead of looking like chirashi, it just looks like an assorted sashimi plate with rice. There were 15 slices of in total; 3 slices of 5 kinds of fish. No pickled veggies, omelet, ebi, unagi, or anything. I was expecting more variety with fewer slices of each kind. It comes with soup and salad and costs $ 23.95. Not worth it. Their combo sashimi dinner had 18 slices in total; 3 slices of 6 different kinds of fish. It was just way too much for my mom. Also comes with soup, salad, and rice and costs $ 25.95. Salmon was the best, but I’ve had better hamachi… Hamachi is usually my favorite kind of fish, but I hardly touched the ones that came with my dinner. Another thing to note is that 6 of the fish slices(2 kinds of fish) were skimpy and looked like skinny rectangles. Overall, our dinner was ok, but we felt so sick of sashimi afterwards. I love sashimi so much, but it was just… too much! I wish they offered smaller portions of sashimi that costed less. Their bento options were pretty limited, which was why none of us were inclined to get a bento. The highlight of our meal was the fact that the fish were very chilly. Other than that… not too much to rave about.

This place is a joke, We had both Teriyaki as well as sushi. The chicken Teriyaki was awful, just dry chicken with sauce poured over, no specialty here. I then had a deep fried California roll as well as chicken roll which consisted of the same dry chicken with nothing else in it and I am pretty sure there was not crab in my roll. I decided to not eat it after trying(I actually have to say that I never do that) and when the waiter came to take the plate I told him gently that it had not tasted very well, EV he replied by asking if I wanted it bagged for my dog if I had one… WHAT Ehhhhhh WHAT? NO He then brought the full bill with no offering of a discount, I’m still in shock over that comment I will NEVER come back and please do not go out of your way to stop here.

My new favorite sushi restaurant. I love how the seats are piled on top of each other. The sushi is high quality. The ahi poke is my favorite. Their appetizers are bus enough for a meal. The staff is nice. The parking can get right but it’s worth it.

Have been going to this restaurant since I was five. It seriously has never let me down. High quality fish, great service, fun atmosphere, always seating inside and out. Kelly the owner is the sweetest thing. The food here is great. Super high quality fish, they don’t try and stuff their rolls with crap either every roll is just normal fish and sometimes avocado, eel, crab, or vegetables. I enjoy that have other options as well such as cooked chicken, steak and salmon available for entrees in case you’re not feeling like raw fish. They offer lots of different selection. Always tons of seating. Three big parking lots in the back, located in the heart of dtsaratoga. This place is a winner

Fresh well priced quality food, and friendly staff. First time here had to wait 20 minutes until they opened, worth the wait! Very under rated! 5 Stars all the way!

I hate to admit it, but I eat lunch here probably three times a week lol! Their poke is out of this WORLD! The fish is always super fresh and they cut their sashimi into huge pieces! Hard not to walk out of there completely stuffed. Super friendly staff. Love this place!

This place is amazing! It’s not too crowded and the sushi is pretty fresh for the price. Come during the lunch special. 2 rolls for 12 dollars.

I come here at least 1 – 2 times a week. Lunch specials offer a lot of options and the food is good. It doesn’t come with a lot of portion and I think it is just the way Japanese food serves. Give it a 5 star, Service is Great!

Wished I had checked out the bathroom before ordering my food… disgusting! The whole place could really use a clean. Sushi was average, hoping I don’t get food poisoning…

Nice-looking place. Everything else is waste of your time. We stopped at Saratoga after a wonderful hike and stayed here because we liked the atmosphere. At first we were waiting for 20 minutes before we could make an order. My wife lost her patience and got to the waitress and only then she took our order for 3 rolls of sushi. After another 20 minutes sitting without any attention we completely lost our patience and quit.

Not bad at all. The terrace is very pleasant, the food is light and fresh and the service is impeccable and friendly. I didn’t think the food was very seasoned(eg the sunomono was not very flavorful) and overall I think it was a bit too expensive for what it was. Still, a nice experience.

Pretty place pretty mediocre everything else. For better experience, make sure you can watch the chefs fire up the pans for each dish. That’s about it for making this better. The food is mediocre, the service is meh, if you’re looking for food and service go somewhere else. If you don’t care and want to sit in a nice looking place, great this is for you. The seaweed salad had a citrus sour flavor that did not impress. Free fruit for dessert that is cool I guess.

One of the worst sushi experiences, we were famished around 2PM and they were getting ready to close down, so they rushed to get everything done in seconds. I have ordered several hand rolls with crab meat instead of rice, shrimp appetizer and some miso soup. What a disappointment that was… They rushed to make the hand rolls and in the process they did not add any crab meat. When I asked for the crab meat they decided to put it on the side, they literally put two fists full of crab meat on the plate. The quality of the imitation crab meat was the worst I have even seen or tasted, if you tried to dip it in the soy sauce would disintegrate in seconds like some bad chemistry experiment. Furthermore the nori was beyond soggy and the shrimp was«what shrimp eats to grow into a prawn». Don’t waste your money this is not a sushi place.

Located in the quaint downtown area of Saratoga, Masu is really a good, simple Japanese restaurant that you can’t really go out with. My family often comes here for lunch because of their lunch deals. You can either order a bento box for $ 10.95 for 2 items + salad, miso soup, and rice or 3 items for I believe $ 12.95. Of those items that you can choose from, you can choose 1 meat item(chicken, salmon, or beef teriyaki) + 1 – 2 additional items like tempura, sashimi, and gyoza. They also have a sushi roll deal where you order 2 rolls for $ 12.95. The last time my family and I came was last week after a long hike with the dog. The staff were nice and accommodating and even offered water to our dog! The food itself was decent. I ordered the bento box with beef teriyaki and sashimi, specifically requesting if I could get only one kind of fish which was accepted by our waiter with no questions asked.(Another point to their staff!) I really liked my fish and found it to be fresh and juicy, but the beef was unfortunately a bit on the smaller side and chewy. Definitely had better versions of this dish at other restaurants. I had no complaints over the salad, miso soup, and rice, all of which are standards at any normal Japanese restaurant. I also tried my sister’s sushi roll combo of the Jaguar and Dragon rolls, which I thought were nice and fresh. I especially liked the light crunch of the tempura which I feel like a lot of restaurants often make the mistake of prefrying their shrimp tempura and letting it sit for a while, making it soggier. Also had my mom’s hamachi kama which was a decent portion but a little dry. Overall, I can always depend on Masu for providing me an enjoyable dining experience. Good food and great service! 3 stars for their food, but added a star because I felt they really took care of us.

Sashimi! This place has some really good sashimi. Because my partner and I ate a really large meal this morning, we only ordered the 8pc salmon sashimi, oshinko(pickled radish) maki, and spicy scallops. What makes this place great is their melt in your mouth buttery sashimi. Their ginger was also pretty fresh. Everything else was decent. I do want to note that the rolls are shaped awkwardly and the serving size is small for what you’re paying for.
