This is a hidden gem. The surroundings aren’t luxurious by any means, but the food is outstanding. The ingredients are all local and fresh. The combinations are traditional but revised to bring out the flavors in an inventive, modern way. Really a fresh take on Southern cooking. Everything that Paula Deen should be, but isn’t.

Got takeout. Food was flavorless and greasy(sandwiches) I guess from reviews it’s a fried chicken place…

Best little hidden gem in Savannah… the food was fresh, service was great, and as a plus… nothing on the menu has high fructose corn syrup. AAA+!!

Not THAT great. I feel like the previous reviews swayed us to choose this restaurant on our recent trip to Savannah, and I honestly wasn’t that impressed. I don’t want to sound harsh, as I think this place has potential. It gets points for being local and not touristy, as well as for using many organic ingredients. But maybe it’s better to try it at dinnertime? We went there for lunch and the menu really isn’t that southern at lunch, there were several salads and sandwiches and a few interesting things such as chicken & waffles and fish tacos(which my husband ordered) but I thought many of the lunch menu options were too generic — tuna salad? I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with Johnny fries. The chicken was excellent but I think a different sauce or spread on the sandwich would be nice. It came with an avocado spread but there wasn’t enough of it and it just didn’t work that well for me. The fries were good and different, and I enjoyed them. My other complaint is the flooring. I get that’s it quaint and small, but that’s no reason to be dirty. Our table was in the corner near the kitchen, and the linoleum was peeling up all under my chair and it was very discolored and nasty looking. I think even some cheap, but new tiles to replace the current flooring would make a difference.

What is there not to like about this place? ABSOLUTELYNOTHING except the fact that it is in Savannah rather than Orlando so I can’t go here all the time. I don’t think I can add much more to all the glowing reviews except to emphasize … Best. Fried. Chicken. EVER! Sides that taste great and highlight fresh, healthy ingredients. Lightly sweetened green tea using Stevia & honey — yes and thanks. Of all the places we ate while in Savannah, this was our favorite and the only one we pine for now that we are back home. If you live in the area — do what we wish we could do and become a regular. If you are visiting — make this a must go on your list of places to eat.

Tini, tiny place. If you were not looking for it, you just might miss it. Luckily we didn’t. I was craving some good fried chicken and Southern sides, but we didn’t have time to make the line at Mrs. Wilkes. Unilocal lead us to Café Florie. We were immediately greeted upon entering by our server. He was very friendly and efficient. I, of course, ordered the fried chicken. The chicken was delicious! Crispy, moist and not greasy. I was a bit sad that they didn’t have mash taters, Mac and cheese or biscuits which were all part of my craving. But I did have some Johnny fries which were delish with an awesome caramelized onion and goat cheese dip. I also tried the Gorgonzola and the pesto dip, although good, my favorite was the goat cheese. My husband had a crêpe with chicken, that he enjoyed along with his own Johnny fries. Because I was not going to share. The only disappointment was the Sour Cream Pound Cake. When I opened it, it smelled like broccoli. I don’t like broccoli. I thought it was me, so i asked my husband what it smelled like. Broccoli. But I soldiered on, because heck, it’s cake. And it wasn’t green, so there can’t be broccoli in there. It was very dry and just did not taste right. I found out that they post their daily specials on sides on Facebook, so check it out. Now, some people might get there and debate on whether they should go in or not. Just do it! It might not look like much, but your tummy will thank you.

Found this treasure from a search on Unilocal and we were both enthralled with our fantastic food and delighted with how extremely affordable it is! It’s not posh it’s a shack and the food is made with love and compassion and you can taste the quality! We got the meatloaf and the roasted red pepper with chicken crepes. Both were fantastic! Will definitely come back when we next visit Savannah!

Small, quaint and out of the way for sure. I ordered the meatloaf and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and seasoning. My only issue was the kale was a wee bit on the bitter side but some people prefer that. The mayonnaise selection for fries was unbelievable — caramelized onion and goat cheese mayo on fries should become«a thing» in America. It’s delicious. My group showed up on an «off hour» so we didn’t have to deal with a long wait. It’s soul and comfort food at its best here in Savannah. I’ll be returning to this place with more friends in the future!

The food is eclectic and excellent. The chef was trained in France, lived in New York and has family and roots in Savannah, so he can blend the best from his varied background. He also cares about organic, sustainable and locally grown food. All the salad dressings are made there, and so unusual! Whoever heard of sweet potato or purple beet vinaigrette? The chicken chop salad is my favorite, but twice I ordered it with a burger on top instead of the chicken. They were happy to accommodate my request! Delicious grass-fed beef, too! It is funky and intimate.

This is an amazing gem in a city full of fine dining. Although it is a bit of a trek to get there, it is well worth the walk. Don’t let the outside stop you. It is small, but the food and the service so good you won’t notice. My particular favorites were the Johnnie fries cut by hand and fried nice and crispy. The red velvet cake was the best I’ve ever had, and I make a pretty good one myself. This place is far and away better than anything you’ll find close to River Street.

What more can be said that has not be said before. Places like this should be part of a National Food archive. Soooo Good. Really busy the day we went but all the staff were helpful. Great crowd. You HAVE to go. Not fast food but SO much better.

We knew it was going to be good when we pulled up to a place that was so small, calling it «nondescript» doesn’t even begin to describe it. I was craving some salad, and they delivered that(with…SWEETPOTATOVINAIGRETTE!!!). I also had a grilled veggie sandwich, and hubby had a fried chicken sandwich. Both were on homemade bread that reminded me of my grandma. Sweet green tea was refilled frequently, and was sooooo refreshing. To top it off, the server was possibly one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. In my whole life. Comfortable service to go along with their delish comfort food.

Love, love, love this tiny little place BUT… it requires quite a bit of a time commitment. Lovely, kind service, but the kitchen is SLOW. Café Florie offers all sorts of intriguing and innovative items. The menu features wonderful, delicious, brilliantly-cooked local ingredients. The salad dressings and various teas and spicy lemonade are different and fun. We waited darn near an hour for fantastic chicken liver foie gras, fried chicken and steak frites. Also, no wine or beer on offer, so the food really is the star here. Strongly advise that you arrive early and avoid the place in the summer, as the tiny window unit can’t compete with the kitchen.

Food is amazing. French fries are pretty perfect. Portions are huge! Iced Citrus green tea is really good too. Food takes a while to come out, so dont go if youre pressed for time.

Where to begin about my favorite restaurant in Savannah? Normally I would go into ridiculous detail, but it’s too difficult for this. This place is pure sunshine. It’s that annoying friend that doesn’t get upset about anything and – you swear – vomits rainbows. The food is nothing short of fantastic, and the service is friendly and absolutely entertaining. Everything is organic and homemade – no need for explanation there. Normally, one looks at a menu and gravitates towards his/her taste bud preferences. At Café Florie, there is no need. Just close your eyes and point at something. It will be, without a doubt, fantastic.

Place is out of the way and unassuming when we found it. The wait was long– 35 minutes before food arrived, but it was well worth the wait. It was a busy lunch hour. The fried chicken was the best i have ever eaten! Choice of white or dark meat, I had dark and it was succulent, Perfectly fried, not greasy and organic chicken!!! Went for lunch and we will return again before we leave town on Thursday. A true gem, don’t miss this spot. Not pretentious, just best ever«everything from scratch» kind of place.

Holy cow, this place is good! Such a friendly atmosphere and superb food in a very strange location. I had a special of the day– hot ham and swiss with Johnny fries. Mmm! Homemade everything– that’s the way I like it! Husband had the BBQ, and being from North Carolina, he’s a bit of a BBQ snob, and it wasn’t his favorite. Still, he loved the place, enjoyed the fries, peach cobbler pound cake(yes– peach cobbler pound cake!) and sweet green tea. Next time, he says he’ll get the fried chicken– we hear it has amazing breading. I can’t wait to go back, maybe next time for dinner! update: tried the herb mayo– oh man, oh man! You must get this to go with your Johnny Fries! My mouth is watering now thinking about it! Also, fried chicken is to die for! Try it as the sandwich for lunch. Delicious!

Everyone else has already said everything there’s to say: everything fresh, from scratch, top notch cooking, the best collards I’ve ever had(so fresh and not overcooked), delicious bottomless healthy sweet tea(green tea with local honey and stevia), hands down best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Don’t miss the fries. The wait was fairly appalling(overheard that there were technical problems in the kitchen) and worth every second. Easily the best meal we had in Savannah, and we did not kid around with our restaurant choices. Not even bothering to review the others, all better known. Service was generous, gracious despite the insane crush of customers and kitchen problems. Only tip… they do need better climate control. Still worth it.

Oh Yes… An Organic Oasis in the deep south… YESPLEASE! What’s not to love? They make their own EVERYTHING. Funny enough, my love and I came here seeking Chicken and Waffles(As if I need a single more bite of fried food or gluten) and I ended up with the opposite — The most epic salad. Big veggies, Free Range Organic Chicken, Peach Dressing… DIVINE! My love got the chicken sandwich, and was gushing. EVENHOMEMADEBREAD! The Pecan Pie was out of this World… Mmm… I want more. MOREFLORIE! He named the place after his G-Ma. How cute is that? :)

Enjoyed Café Florie — great atmosphere, food, music and company. Owners/hosts Theo and his cousin were engaging and courteous. Admittedly, I had no leftovers, but the food definitely hit the spot for a good price.
