I’m not sure what to say about this restaurant, as I was a so disappointed with the service. The food itself was wonderful and my meal was one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had. We were seated in a lovely room upstairs and away from the main dining room. The first server to greet us asked what we wanted to drink, and I told her we wanted a bottle of wine and asked for recommendations. She was immediately flummoxed and said we’d need to wait for the other server who knew more about the wine. After that everything proceeded smoothly until our main course came. We were talking and didn’t realize that we’d been served the wrong food. From then on, the service went downhill. I had to find the server to let her know the food was wrong, had to find the server to order dessert, find the server to get a coffee refill, find the server to get our check, and finally once again hunt down the server to take the check. First time in my life I’ve left less than a 20% tip at a nice restaurant. This was supposed to be the best and last dinner of our«dining trip» thru Charleston and I was very disappointed that mediocre service ruined what should have been a great experience. To top it off, the restaurant then failed to submit my appearance for my reservation to Open Table, so I’m having to straighten that out as well.

Having heard such great things about this resto, we decided to head over for my birthday dinner. We were seated in a room right by the entrance. The décor is really due for an update. I had the peach mojito, not impressive at all. The mint tasted rotten which ruined the entire drink. For mains we had the spicy savannah red rice with georgia shrimp and the pork chop with mac&cheese and apple cabbage slaw. We were truly impressed with the taste and quality of the food. The rice was yummy and spicy and was loaded with shrimp, clams, sausage, grouper and fried okra. The portion was huge and I ended up packing up the rest. The pork chop was exquisite too. We will for sure return for more !!

I’ve seen some mixed reviews but the Saturday night in early April Liz definitely earned 5 stars. Red snapper and grouper entrees were perfectly prepared and wonderfully seasoned. We pride ourselves on making great scallops at home but the appetizer was outstanding. Wine steward was very knowledgeable… opened a bottle of Washington state voignier we requested but when we didn’t love it, he said hold on, let me grab something else and he came back with a velvety French sauvignon blanc. Then as we were enjoying our meal and his wine choice he came back with a petit chablis that wasn’t on the list, just to get our opinion. We walked out with half a bottle, great memories, and the best food we had during a recent visit to Savannah and Charleston.

The food, atmosphere, and service are simply amazing! The peach tea cocktail was smooth and refreshing. My husband is still raving about his pork chop entrée! I had a delicious red snapper dish with clams and couldn’t stop until my plate was clean. The service was without a doubt, the best I’ve experienced in Savannah and I’m a local. Can’t wait to go back!

After being unable to get a same-day reservation at Local 11 Ten, my family and I went to Elizabeth on 37th for some«impeccable» Southern New American: — Cheese biscuits with butter and marmalade — These were great! Warm, fatty, crumbly. The marmalade was pleasant. Overall a solid start. Some people one table over came, ate biscuits, and left. — Appetizers: we decided to skip, but a nearby table ordered a crab cake. It looked meager, even for a crab cake. — Harris Ranch pepper crusted beef tenderloin ‘medium-rare’: A small morsel in the center was medium-rare, but the rest ranged from medium to well done – dry and firm. The portion size was pretty small – maybe 4oz of beef, an insignificant number of potatoes, and a miniature tower of spinach and feta. My sister, who is not so rapacious an eater, left hungry. The steak was fairly bland and there was but a scant serving of the madeira cream sauce, which, according to her, was the most interesting part of the dish. Ugly plating. — Nut encrusted flounder over local greens(seasonal) — came exactly as billed. Nicely seasoned, soft, flaky. Not too dry, not too wet. — Spicy savannah red rice with Georgia shrimp: generous portion of rice, but sadly lacking in shrimp. Rice: delicious, chicken sausage: firm, grouper: dry, shrimp: scant, clams: absent. «…but the rice was really tasty.» — Coastal grouper celeste: wet crust and a little bland. Fish was tender. — Service: great about topping up – «brimming” – our waters, but I had to explicitly ask them to remove our side plates and biscuit basket even after our entrees were served. Our main waiter: disengaged, bored, …robotic. He seemed unenthusiastic about the food and delivered the menu with a disjointed meter(think teleprompter). When asked to recommend non-seafood items, he just listed the beef, chicken, and pork chop and gave them superlative adjectives, «unparalleled», «excellent», «divine». In the words of my mother, «he seemed disinclined to serve.» I wish I had called Local 11 Ten earlier.

Elizabeth’s was wonderful! The food was so so so good! And the service was on point. I had the Snapper special… delicious! The pecan tart with ice cream was yummy too!

Came to Elizabeth’s on my first night in Savannah with my boyfriend. It’s situated in an old mansion that was simply just gorgeous. For starters they gave us a salad that consisted of apples cilantro and spinach, it was not only delicious but healthy. I had the American snapper it was just the right portion and the clams was the best touch. My boyfriend had the spicy red rice and he said it was fantastic. Overall a great place especially for a date.

Two words on this place. NOTGOOD. The food was mediocre at best and the environment was like being at a Cracker Barrel. After all the reviews, my fiancé and I were so excited to try this place out. It was such a huge disappointment. I’m still trying to figure out how it got such great reviews. Our salad wasn’t even a salad. It was more like a parsley experiment with a dash of two apple slivers and olive oil. Extremely disappointed but you live and learn. This is definitely one of those places that Unilocal let us down. Oh yeah, one other thing about this place. You’ll take the musty smell with you when you leave. Awful. If you take the chance I hope you have a much better experience and we just came on an off night.

We were on vacation and wanted a special place to celebrate my husband’s birthday with some friends. This place absolutely delivered. It is a great setting and the food was as good as it gets. I had the scallop appetizer which really was perfect! Very flavorful and a great mix of ingredients that were to die for. My husband had the quail and thought it was outstanding. We also had the snapper and clam entrée which was perfectly prepared. The snapper was moist, full of flavor and delicious. Our friends loved their food as well. We had the pecan torte for dessert and it was decadent. Our friends had the dessert(I don’t remember the name) that was torn angel food cake with whipped cream and strawberries. This is something that I would normally ignore on a menu. I was so happy that it got ordered, because it was wonderful. Since they used real whipped cream, it wasn’t overly sweet, just light and a great end to the meal. They also served and amuse bouche of a grilled mussel with aioli. I could have had that for dinner. They had a lovely viognier by the glass so we all kind of settle in with that one with no regrets. If I lived in Savannah, this would be a restaurant that I would return to. Service was welcoming and efficient. Thanks for a great experience.

The very last restaurant hubby and I visited during our GA/SC/NC vacation was one of our favorites. We decided last minute to have one more excellent meal instead of fast food near the airport, and I am so glad we did! Elizabeth on 37th is listed on several«Best Of» lists, so we knew we’d be in for a treat. We decided to go light on this meal and forgo appetizers. Went straight in with entrees where hubby chose the Pepper Crusted Beef Tenderloin. It was cooked perfectly. It was the only steak he’d had on our 10 day vacation, and he truly enjoyed every bite. However, I think I ordered the star of the night. I cannot recommend enough the Tanglewood Farms Chicken. It was — too use a highly overused word — AMAZING. If you are torn about what to order, just do yourself a favor and get the chicken. It was moist and melt in your mouth delicious. Served with a side of the best cornbread dressing you may ever eat and collard greens. I’d never had collard greens, but they tasted just like the flavor of ham and beans. Very downhome, comfy cooking! And if you like mushrooms, this dish will make you very happy indeed. We finished off the night with dessert. Hubby always gets the chocolate thing, which was a cake iced with chocolate and drizzles with chocolate sauce. He loved it. I got something a little more unique — the Savannah Cream Cake. The cake is a mix of angel food cake and sherry laced custard cake accompanied by a wonderful berry sauce. Super good. What a fantastic way to end our trip. Service here was a little slow, but the experience of the meal was out of this world. I’d go back again and again if I could.

I stopped by Elizabeth On 37th as I was passing through GA on my way to NY thanks to Unilocal. What a find! This elegant restaurant is takes residence in an old Southern Mansion. The dated décor adds its South’s rich heritage. It is simply beautiful. The service is excellent, everyone was so sweet. I don’t recall everything we ordered but rest assured you will experience probably one of the finest southern culinary cuisines you can ever dream of. Not one dish was average. Would definitely stop by again if ever in the area and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for fine Southern cuisine.

Very good service and adorable atmosphere. I started with a Bloody Mary, and my friend got bubbles. Very good. We had the mozzarella appetizer, I think that was just mediocre. My main entrée, was fish, I can’t remember what kind. It was delicious, I believe it was the special. My friend ordered the chicken, and said it was great. We finished our meal with the chocolate cake, yum! Definitely recommend, amazing service!

Magical. Great space in an old grand home. Waitstaff that genuinely care about their guests. A wine list to swoon over — you like German riesling? You are in luck. The vibe here is wonderful and warm. Forgive me as I’m not a pro-restaurant reviewer and spent a lot of time having an awesome time and drinking wine and eating — and not taking photos or notes. I can’t recall which dishes we had, but I can recall that each dish seemed to have a surprising element. The oysters with chorizo. Scallops done two ways(two? may have been three). The fish with the very subtle parmesan crust(oh my). I think there were short ribs at some point. I had a grand time.

I had a really lovely dinner here the week of my birthday. It’s in a beautiful old stately home and there are some tables with very picturesque views. The service here is really top notch. Everyone I met was super kind and friendly and knowledgeable about the food. We had several waiters at our table. I felt like our group was very well attended. The food was all very tasty, the ones that particularly stood out was the mozzarella and tomatoes, mushroom tartine, beef tenderloin, and the most amazing goat cheese cheesecake that came right out of the oven! That was the best cheesecake I’ve ever had. One of the owners of the restaurant came to our table and kept giving us free wine! It was great! Would totally recommend this restaurant to visitors and locals alike. It has an old world romantic atmosphere to it.

We were looking for a special place to celebrate Closing on our house and we found it at Elizabeth’s. I can’t rave enough about how delightful our meal was! This is one of those restaurants where even vegetables or proteins that you don’t usually like will taste like gold in your mouth — trust the servers! I ordered one of their two seasonal specials and couldn’t have been more glad I did(even though I couldn’t recognize or pronounce many of the ingredients). The food was absolutely phenomenal, which is what you expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Outstanding food does come with a high price tag, but in all honesty I have eaten at several of Savannah’s «star» restaurants with similar prices and I found Elizabeth to be superior to most in both quality and quantity. This restaurant actually serves you a dinner sized portion! I was very impressed with the portion sizes compared to other Savannah fine dining establishments. On top of that, the ambiance was very intimate and picturesque and absolutely every employee from the hostess to the waitress to the server was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaged us in conversation. I CANNOT come up with a bad thing to say about this restaurant. My Meal: Scallop appetizer, Chilled Gaspacho Soup, Parmesan Crusted Flounder

We had dinner at Elizabeth on 37th on Friday to celebrate with The Lawlers that the girls finished their first year at SCAD. I called in the afternoon and was able to get squeezed into same day dinner reservations. I really appreciated the persons helpfulness in making this happen. The mansion is charming. The experience of dining in a house is different. The table for 5 we were given was spacious. We were never rushed even though we closed the restaurant, as per the usual. Parking is a challenge. There is a small lot at the rear of the house but it’s tight. Be prepared to street park. Frank and I enjoyed our drinks and meals. We will definitely be back. Following are the food items we had. SURRYANOHAM15.95 Virginia country ham thinly sliced with fontinella cheese, grilled vidalias, and pecan-pimiento sauce .- This was okay, nothing to write home about. SCALLOPAPPETIZER .- Was delicious. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the chickpea purée was tasty. DOUBLECUTBERKSHIREPORKCHOP36.95 with five cheese macaroni and apple-cabbage slaw .- Frank’s plate and although I did not try it myself, he raved about his pork chop. PARMESANDUSTEDLOCALFLOUNDER .- This was my dish and it was AH-MA-ZING! The flounder was so moist and flaky. The parmesan crust was divine especially when I would grab some of the charred bits. YUM! The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because there was some wonky things going in between the servers. We had a bar waiter which brought our menus. When we were ready to order, another server came by and then the original server wanted to stake the claim on our table. It was just odd and at a restaurant of that caliber I really don’t want the staff fighting over my table. If there is a problem, I don’t want to know about it or even notice that there is a problem. We will return because we want to take Analis, so hopefully if all goes well on the return visit, I will give them the 5 stars.

After reading all the great reviews and hearing all the hype, I really was expecting incredible food but was pretty disappointed. Especially for the absolute fortune we hadto spend to eat at this restaurant. My husband and I ordered the homemade mozzarella and tomato salad which was just ok and the mozzarella wasn’t very fresh. He ordered the steak and was pretty pleased with his. I ordered the blackeyed pea patty with mushrooms and kale salad. The best part of the entrée were the mushrooms, which were quite good. They also brought out a small salad of greens for their garden and beets on the house, which was tasty. They also brought out mussels which were also on the house. We decided to skip dessert because we were so underwhelmed with the dinner. The restaurant itself is located in an old historic mansion and is so beautiful. So the décor and ambiance were lovely. We just expected more of the food.

Quite good in execution and has all the fine dining accoutrements. During a long weekend in Savannah we chose Elizabeth’s as our fine dining excursion. We couldn’t get a reservation at the Pink House, even calling a week before(this has happened multiple years!), and we tried Local 11Ten during the last visit. Elizabeth’s was recommended by a relative as having scrumptious food in a placid old Savannah atmosphere. It met the criteria in both respects. We sat in the front room next to the fireplace for an early(6:30) supper. Service was attentive and very efficient, friendly at the front end. We liked our waitress and the waiter who came around and explained the special dishes in hushed, dramatic tones that was entertaining. Each of us had a cocktail and the waitress bought an amuse bouche – a very nice mushroom soup and an elaborately prepared mussel. Nice. For the dinner, I had a red snapper on a bed of quail hash with chopped veggies mixed in a tasty combination. My dining partner had a vegetable plate that was likewise elegantly prepared. For desert we chose Savannah Cream Cake, an Angel food and sherry laced custard cake. Very rich and super flavorful. Along with the desert came coffee and tea. About 3 minutes after being served coffee, I was asked if I wanted a refill. Seeing as I had taken just a few sips, I said no, not yet. That was the last we saw of the waitress(or waiter – they work in teams). We had been sitting for just over an hour, and things were cranking up for the Friday 8:00 rush I guess. That’s one of the things about fine dining – If you spend the big bucks, you kind of want your coffee refilled, and a little more attention at the end of the meal. Understandably, the restaurant wants to get another pair of customers in your seats. But after an hour and a $ 200 bill, one wants to linger just a little bit. Here we have a different in priorities. So the next night instead of going to Local 11 Ten again(which was quite good, but kind of rushed and loud when we went during our last visit), we went for dinner at the Sentient Bean coffeehouse. Veggie panini, homemade soup, and the Big Vegan bowl. We lingered over coffee, sweet scone and a interesting, house-made cookie. It was relaxing… and it cost about $ 30 for two, with beer included.

This is probably the best meal to be had in Savannah, GA. It is quite a distance from the river front so if you are staying in that area of the city plan on driving there, or take a taxi instead to avoid trying to find parking. It is in what appears to be a residential neighborhood, so be prepared. The place is in a beautiful old home that is nicely decorated and evokes memories of old southern charm. The service here doesn’t disappoint either. You are attended by a team of servers in the room that see to it that you are satisfied and have all you need. I was particularly impressed by the gentleman that had the menu memorized and quoted the preparations from memory as well as made personal recommendations as he did so. I had an app of a take on a shrimp taco. The shell however was made out of parmesan cheese. A wonderfully made item that made my mouth happy! My wife ordered a white wine and mussels dish that was superb. Entrees of filet of beef and a double cut Berkshire pork chop were excellent! Beef to the exact perfect temperature and the pork was succulent. A Hirsch Vineyards Pinot Noir helped to polish off the meal. Their wine cellar by the way holds about 10,000 bottles but the keep the list smaller in order to serve what is drinking well at the time in which you are dining, around 200 – 250 selections or so. If you are in Savannah, you will be disappointed if you don’t try this gem!

A truly 5 star experience is one you remember for years to come. Elizabeth on 37th provided such an experience for us from the service, to the atmospheric historic building and dining room, to the incredible seafood. The service was impeccable with great suggestions and checked in often. All of the seafood was excellent. The oysters prepared three ways were amazing; particularly the deep fried ones which were very unique and inventive. The tangy sauce was also delicious. The snapper with shrimp and chorizo was amazing. I would not have thought those 3 items could blend so seamlessly together, but they did and perfectly complimented each other. The wine list was also excellent and had a good range of prices. A very memorable meal great for special occasions.
