Small and very friendly shop right outside of the main downtown area, but definitely 5 star worthy. From their absolutely intricate décor, to the pleasant staff, this place is the perfect place for a peaceful relaxation. I tried the green tea, tastes standard in my opinion, the latte I got was fantastic! Fresh juices were also out of this world, try the mango! Sounds like a review if I were their marketing team… but it’s seriously so nice that I’m even writing about it.

Absolutely loved my experience at Maté Factor and would place among the top of my «to-visit in Savannah» list. You walk inside the cozy shop, which gets crowded quickly, and feel you’ve entered a natural treehouse space. I went with a vanilla hazelnut latte and carob chip cookie(I absolutely love carob chips, probably because my mother baked with them when I was little, were were never allowed real chocolate as children. Regardless, it’s next to impossible to find them used anywhere, and the cookie here was spectacular!). The shop specialize in fresh, organic yerba mate with the best flavor and richest nutrition possible, which I will admit I didn’t know a lot about when I visited. And didn’t learn anything about during my visit, only that it’s delicious! The shop states that they loves quality food and sustainable agriculture. Their products are known for their purity(flavored only with organic herbs & spices), cheerful packaging, and care, and you can buy them right their to make at home! In addition the baked goods and hot and cold beverages, Maté Factor also serves up hot sandwiches.

This was the first place I went to off the plane in Savannah Wednesday Yeah! I got the Mayan Mocha it’s Yerba but she put a shot of Cuban Expresso in there for me and after a three hour plane flight it hit the spot! Love this place the Sweet Potato Poundcake with Maple Caramel don’t even try to bite it because it’s going to melt in your mouth… Southerners really know what their doing when it comes to sweet cakes and pies! Mate Factor has three levels, check it out!

We had parked on a residential street to go look at an apartment and a man we ran into recommended this place to us. An odd occurrence, but we thought… sure, let’s check it out! So glad we did! What a charming place Mate Factor is! We absolutely loved it! It’s a cozy environment with delicious coffees, breads, cookies, and teas. The staff is ever so friendly and the Mayan Mocha was just what we needed on a cold day. Delicious! I loved just hanging out and sitting there reading and we’ll definitely put this place on our list of return tos!

The cappuccino was great and the pecan scones were the best scones I’ve ever had but they forgot about the last half of our order so my gf waited around for about 10 minutes while everyone was chatting until they noticed and then gave her the wrong drink… all that being said the chai she got was great but I drank it because she hates chai. She did however enjoy the egg and cheese sandwich. I’m giving this place 4 stars because there was no denying how good the food was but the service was lacking, hopefully it was just an off day for that.

Come immediately! Lovely local place. Beautiful wooden building, excellent coffee and tea options(I had an almond vanilla double espresso latte — she was happy to customize — and a very fresh and green iced green tea). All the bread and pastry options look great though I didn’t them, as do the sandwiches. A neighborhood gem if you will!

It’s all good! For a late lunch I had a mango peach iced drink, a Reuben sandwich and a raspberry coconut muffin. It was so filling that I didn’t end up eating dinner. Staff was friendly and helpful and the décor was so charming. It was a nice easy walk from The Mansion hotel that I was staying at.

A cute coffee shop with an open room in the back. The back had a bonfire and it made the place cozy. Perfect area for a coffee date. Also, it’s a great place to study or read a book. Almost everything here is organic. I got the Mocha Mint, size small($ 3.50), it was delicious. It wasn’t really sweet and had the right amount of everything in it. If you like mint chocolate, you will love it. My friend got their Expresso in coffee and it was good as well. If you just want the Expresso shot, make sure you inform them that you don’t want it with milk. I also tried their Dates Bar, which was great and was not so sweet like other bars. They also sell freshly baked bread($ 6-$ 8), which I plan to buy the next time I visit.

I had no idea what on earth mate was before coming here for a coffee date with a friend. I was intrigued though! And excited to try something natural & new. I have to say that it was surprisingly delicious! The first sip was odd, only because I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, the taste was great and I did feel energized and awake after drinking it! I also tried a piece of their spinach quiche & it was so yummy. I recommend at least giving this place a try for something new!

I just went to Maté Factor for lunch. 5 stars! The atmosphere is perfect– straight out from a fairytale and perfect for your Instagram feed. Make sure you come hungry because you will want a sandwich, a pastry, and a drink! I had a veggie burger, the sweet potato pound cake, and an iced green chai. It’s kind of pricey for all three, but I think it was worth it.

What a unique gem in Savannah. Great healthy snacks, treats and drinks. I had the Yerba Mate brew and I instantly felt better. The medicinal properties of Yerba Mate is not to be denied. I also got a great tasting Mate bar which tasted like a delicious peanut butter bar with mate(which I like it reminds me of green tea a bit). The way to go if you want one of kind treats in a town that doesn’t always have the healthiest cuisine!

Beautiful quaint organic tea shop. If you don’t know what Yerba Mate is then please come visit here. It is a mellow wonderful lightly caffeinated tea. The brand that Mate Factor carries is organic and wonderful. I first discovered this type of tea brand in a small coffee shop in Asheville North Carolina so I was thrilled to find Mate Factor. The pastries are made fresh and you can tell the owners love what they do, pouring their love into their business and the community. The ambience is so beautiful and inviting and very clean. With handmade wood and craftsmanship that can’t really be described in words. Their are a great variety of hot and cold drinks and some drinks taste like coffee(without the jittery effects from coffee and all the antioxidant benefits of Yerba mate) They have almond and soy milk for the non dairy or vegan patron. I just can’t say enough good things about this local café. If I lived nearby I would be here often. The owners are very inviting and kind. They let us sample some drinks and we bought some fresh baked breads. This will be a regular stop for us from now on. My daughter got the vanilla hazelnut tea cold and it was very good. Smooth light vanilla flavor with a coffee flavor. I also like that they use Agave or honey to sweeten drinks. Nothing artificial and all teas are organic.

Charmingly decorated coffee/tea shoppe with wonderful gift baskets, handmade soap, a zillion teas and even Yerba matte, gifts and relaxing music. Powerful WiFi for a change makes writing a memo a joy. Great people watching spot in the heart of historic Savannah; the folks who run it are as pleasant as pleasant can be.

All the five star ratings do not lie. This place is great! We stopped in Savannah on my drive back form Florida, and I’m so glad we found this coffee/tea shop. We had an excellent Chai Mate latte and delicious baked treat :-) I knew I had to leave with a box of tea from this place. I was stuck between the chai and green tea mate. The owner noticed my dilemma and we had a talk about taste preferences and what makes a great tea. I chose the chai, but at the register he handed me the green tea and said it was a gift. I’ve never met such a kind hearted business owner who takes such pride in his product — and he should because this tea is amazing. I can’t wait to travel back down south so I can stop in again :-)

Rare and hence, I give it a 5 Star. From the outside it looks pretty regular but the moment one steps inside the ols world history feel catches up. Every corner, the walls, the tiny arch ways leading to the lower level seating, the flowers on the table, the chalk board menu, the incredible homely menu, wooden benches paired with a sinking couch and music to bind it all together. We sipped our Mayan Mocha and Old St José and just allowed the ambience to sink in. My husband loved the Mayan Mocha which we ordered with the spinach and cheese savoury Patty. Lovely! I would visit this every time we come to Savannah… I would change my route if I had to…

Looking for an escape from the streets of Savannah with calm music, great caffeinated beverages, and homemade pastries and breads to tempt your palette? And you want it to come with some awesome tucked-in nooks to go work or read in, all with wi-fi and a chill vibe to boot? Oh great, walk right in, this is your spot. If J.R. Tolkien’s Hobbit Shire could come to life, it might look like this. Dark with warm lighting in spots, lots of wood everywhere adding a rustic feel to the space. A nice patio outback hidden away from the street. Order up a hot or cold coffee or maté, which is a highly caffeinated South American drink. There are several latte specialities to try here too. I quite enjoy the iced coffee and it’s light flavoring of savory spices. They also have a wide variety of pastries, sandwiches and breads basically calling you at the counter. Spend a few minutes, or spend the whole afternoon– it’s easy to do here. Being out of the usual tourist circuit, it’s a great space to hang with the locals and have some quiet downtime. I will heartily return here again!

What a neat place! Very«granola» in the best way possible. Everything is fresh and homemade and they offer coffee as well as maté which is a South American caffeine rich infused drink. It’s a healthier option than coffee. And is very tasty! They have a wide variety of pastries, hot drinks, sandwiches and breads. The venue itself is really cool with lots of little«nooks» that you can hide away with a book all day in. It’s gorgeous and had exposed beams, wood, shelves, and has a calm comfortable earthy feel. Will absolutely return when I’m in the area!

This place is out of the much crowded tourist area so parking on the street was easy to find. Inside is small and cozy. I imagine if a college student needed a drink and study place this is it. The gentleman that waited on us was very nice and helpful with suggestions. My husband does not drink coffee and no longer allowed to drink tea. He got the Vanilla Steamer and was happy. I had a Mocha Mate. I read the Mate is much more healthier than coffee. I must admit that it didn’t satisfy the Caffeine Beast within. However, it was a nice change. I must brag about the Whole Wheat Bread. The ingredients have no additives or preservatives. It is the same as most home made recipes. I can’t wait to try in for toast and sandwiches. Hope to visit again.

Can I live here? Maté Factor, adopt me please? If I could go back to a favorite café in the U.S., it would be here. The sweets were just delicious– specifically the scones and peach pie! I was impressed that healthy ingredients were used when needed such a honey used as a sweetener in some of the baked goods instead of processed sugar. The maté tea here was just incredible. I wish we had bought some go being home. It’s all I crave now. And don’t get me started on the extremely cool atmosphere and building structure. Maté Factor, you changed my life. And I miss you everyday!

I first learned about The Maté Factor during my college days in Ithaca, NY, where there is also a café. When I saw that there was a location in Savannah, I knew I had to check it out. This place is 5 stars with good reason. As soon as I walked in, I expected hobbits to appear. They’ve done that good of a job at capturing that hobbit-y atmosphere. Every detail from the woodworking to the flickering lanterns to the wooden bucket lampshades to the bathroom lock is so well thought-out and beautiful. Everyone who works here is super friendly and pleasant, and the drinks are so unique and awesome. I had the iced mango peach maté, and it was perfection. If I lived in Savannah, I’d be here all the time to work, hang out, or meet with friends for conversation. It’s so relaxing and private enough to get work done and have quiet conversation. When in Savannah, come here for a memorable café experience. You’ll definitely be writing home about it.

Within twenty seconds of sitting down inside Mate Factor, I turned to my friend and said, «I just want to roll out a sleeping bag and LIVE inside this place!» The interior of this coffee/mate shop is so inviting and interesting that it threatens to outshine products being sold! Luckily, the drinks and baked goods are AMAZING, so ultimately, it’s the best of both worlds. I had a fantastic drip coffee(robust and delicious) a tasty raspberry scone, and a few morsels of my friends spanakopita(flaky and cheesy, yum). Then I came back later in the day to enjoy a foamy, strong-but-not-too-sweet chai. In the morning, we sat upstairs in the cozy«balcony» area, at comfy wood tables. while light streamed through a small window and onto a shelf of plants. I felt like i was in a tree house. Later in the day, I sat in the quiet backyard and enjoyed the free wifi. I’ll definitely be returning soon to sample the peach pie that was calling my name from the refrigerator case! Plus there are about a dozen specialty drinks on the menu, each of which sounds more delicious than the next! This place is an absolute gem and if I called Savannah home, this place would be my «everyday» coffee shop.

I noticed this coffee shop while on vacation in Savannah. What truly stood out to me was that it really resembles a Hensel and Gretel type house with a discrete sign. I went the very next day and I am so glad that I did. The moment you walk in you can’t help but be awed by the incredible wood work. And the music makes you feel like elves are are making your coffee.(Sounds silly until you walk in and experience it!) I decided to order a matte latte and they let me sample some of their fresh bread! I can’t even begin to describe how delicious everything was. And I really loved the matte as an alternative to coffee. Everything was so amazing in fact that on my last day in Savannah I took pastries and TWO lattes for the road. Everyone that works there was incredibly nice. They explained that they actually did all the wood work themselves and they make all the baked goods as well. I also learned after doing some research that despite the incredibly local feel there are many Mate Factors around the nation and they are run and funded by an organization called the Twelve Tribes. I highly recommend the Mayan latte and all the pastries and breads! I hope my pictures do the interior justice! It’s a must see while in Savannah!
