Amazing food, great service! Fantastic steak and the best chocolate bread pudding for dessert!

A neighborhood gem, and luckily for me, it’s my neighborhood. Menu is not massive but there is always something for everyone, even the terminally fickle. Ingredients are beautifully sourced and preparation is always spot on. Great ownership and warm and friendly staff, who at this point I consider friends. Go, you’ll be glad you did.

It’s been said before – that you don’t expect such a good restaurant in an unimpressive strip mall. But Meritage is a good, solid place where you’re guaranteed a good meal. The service isn’t perfect but the food is ample and while not particularly innovative or unusual, it doesn’t disappoint. The pasta dishes are probably the best – cooked to perfection.

Staff is fantastic food is great(if they have any) but since they are the only restaurant left In Town they have some crazy concept to only have limited quantities of each item. Been here for the past three weekends and they have been out if virtually every special and when we ordered dinner for the 3rd week in a row the nice waiter came over again and Said«sorry out of that appetizer». It was salad! Everyone raves about this place and the food is very good but the owner needs to please buy some food(more than one fish dish) and please, please, please stop running out of food. If any restaurant would open near the 5 corners, in Scarsdale this place will suffer terribly. Even thought food is good and staff is great we would stop coming.(As would many of our local friends.

Excellent food and service. Flavors are multilayered and refined. A consistent winner over the past several years. Not inexpensive, but superior quality makes it worthwhile.

Honestly excellent. Get the crispy eggplant starter and the veal parm chop. Everything is seasoned perfectly and their tomato sauce is very good(which is a huge rarity among Italian restaurants). It’s is super rare I ever review anything on here. Definitely worth the trip. UPDATE: Apple cobbler also a winner

Happy to have found this spot. We came after reading some good reviews on Unilocal and we were not disappointed. My husband had the enormous veal milanese which he really liked. I had the Arctic char tartar and a pasta with mushrooms. Both were great. Definitely we will be back.

I made reservations sometime like two weeks ago for my fiancé and me. It’s a quiet restaurant, nestled in a nice neighborhood, the outdoor décor theme being fairy lights. It seems like a quaint, romantic restaurant, which makes it perfect for date night. I ordered the butternut squash soup as appetizer and the arctic char for entrée. He ordered the cheese and tomato and the ravioli for entrée. While the dishes were pretty pricey, everything was absolutely divine. They cooked the fish so perfectly — crispy skin and juicy meat. The plate was left so clean. We shared a coffee ice cream, which was good as well but I doubt it was homemade. It’s an expensive place but you get your value here. Service was great — can’t complain. It did take longer than it should have to bring the check but I would definitely recommend the place.

Upscale dining — great service and very tasty food. I came with friends and we had a really wonderful dining experience. All 4 of us had vegetarian dishes that evening, and each was delicious, beautifully plated, and unique in taste. In addition to the great menu, they have a nice selection of wines… For a great Italian dining experience, you can’t go wrong in this«upstate» hamlet about 40 minutes outside of NY city. Living in Manhattan, I can say it was worth the drive!

I am very happy to have found such a solid restaurant so close to my home. Everything I have had so far has been delicious. Even simple spaghetti with meatballs is a winner. I love the cheesecake. The waitstaff are also very competent and usually steers us right.

I’m loving having a new go to place when I’m in Scarsdale as opposed to just feeling like I need to get out of Scarsdale quickly. It was a rainy evening and a fast look through available reservations that brought us here the first time, but the stellar food kept us coming back. I will say that service is not always fantastic especially if you’re there on a Saturday BUT for the most part, one adorable female server in particular, do raise the bar on service. This place can get seriously crowded but it’s never been an issue for us. On to the food and drink. The first time I went I had the short rib with cauliflower or some such vegetable haha. I can’t remember because the appetizer was so amazing and so was the short rib(and so was the martini) and I was incredibly jealous of the veal Parmesan. Either way it was amazing and tore apart so easily which is what I want from short rib. The appetizer which is my new favorite and pretty much what I always order — brussel sprout leaves with pancetta and an egg over easy. Few things in life make me as happy as a perfectly cooked runny yolk, but that’s what this is. You break the yolk, smile and have a deliciously rich salad of leaves and pancetta. Suddenly it feels like every problem you have in your life has gone away. Now that’s an appetizer to remember. I have also had soups from here, as has the little one and they certainly don’t disappoint. Just can’t get away from that perfect egg. On subsequent visits I have had gluten free pasta with Parmesan cream sauce and sausage — an incredibly rich dish but so satisfying. I like to not see an abundance of oil in the bowl when getting a pasta with a sauce. That’s right — that oil and fat — I want it on my pasta not dripping off. It makes a difference for sure. The little one almost always gets gluten free pasta with bolognese sauce topped with a little bit of ricotta, it’s also addictive to say the least. One of my favorite entrees however has been the butternut squash agnolotti in a cream sauce. It’s amazing and leaves you wanting more and more with the amazing little pillows of only slightly sweet(not like a pie filling here) squash in a perfectly balanced cream sauce. The veal Parmesan is amazing. It’s not that pounded out thin stuff you get at most places, it’s a Flintstones size chop that covers the whole plate. It doesn’t come with a side and it doesn’t need to in my opinion, it’s truly worth dreaming about for those of us who are food obsessed. Service like I said for the most part is actually good. I’ve found most evenings it’s a server that takes our coats and seats us and that regulars are acknowledged as such. Oh did I skip over dessert? Get it. Chocolate bread pudding on my cheat day was to die for. I’m usually picky about my bread pudding but this was awesome. The ice creams are also amazing believe it or not and even some amazing little gluten free brownies we’ve tried. It’s worth getting the info of their dessert supplier because the desserts can equally be addictive. Tuesday nights is BYOB with no corkage fee which means the joint is usually jumping. The chef is absolutely adorable and on a slow night will come out and talk to those of us who are dining and you get the feeling he loves to cook and loves for people to eat haha. Sounds weird but it’s actually awesome. The bar is set with old standards(no, not an appletini, but a sazerac) as well as their own creations which are all very refined drinks. And on the subject of gluten free they’re pretty careful not to cross contaminate. Gluten free pasta will take a few extra minutes since fresh water is boiled for each batch, very much appreciated. Meritage will have a special place in my heart for a while since it seems to be where I go to escape stress and they help me to do just that. Just make sure you make a reservation and sit back and enjoy good food.

Dined here for New Years. Don’t let the location fool you. Located in a strip mall, you would not expect the food that comes out of the kitchen. The Arctic char appetizer was delicious. Served tartar, it is a must. Had the short ribs as an entrée and my wife had the lamb. Wonderful flavors and nice portions. The staff is friendly(and the martinis made just right). Would recommend to anyone in the area.

Dined here recently during Restaurant Week though half the table ordered off the regular menu. When we arrived there was only one other table seated. The service was attentive, though the pacing of the food was slow. The quality of the food was great, portions were on the small size. We wondered why this place wasn’t busier! Crusty bread with olive oil came to the table. Appetizers were homemade mozzarella, cauliflower soup, pear and walnut salad. All were plated nicely and great tasting. For entrees we got butternut squash ravioli, roast pork loin with slaw and mashed potatoes, rigatoni with sausage and red pepper flakes(the only dish that was approaching a decent portion size), duck confit. Dessert was chocolate torte, chocolate bread pudding, apple cobbler. Each dessert had a scoop of delicious ice cream — the torte had a yummy espresso ice cream. Very good and we’ll be back.

I came here last night with my boyfriend and his grandmother. We wanted to try something new in her neighborhood. I’m glad we did! This spot was really good and fresh. All their vegetables mentioned were locally sourced. I love when restaurants try to be as healthy and organic as possible. Makes me happy to know a menu could be so seasonal. My boyfriend had the chicken liver bruschetta for appetizer. I had a mushroom soup that was on the specials for the day. For entrée I had tagatelle pasta with broccoli rabe and olive oil. All their pasta was also homemade so thats a huge plus in my book! :) Our server was an older gentleman and he was really attentive. The location is in a strip mall. Its very easy to go over the main road and miss it if you are not looking for it or using GPS.

I love chef owners. Everything is just better, many levels higher on all angles. Many years ago I decided to try this place after driving by it a number of times. It’s easy to miss, which in a way is good because you get regulars! I too have become a regular — average once a week, max was 3 times in one week. So about the food… the pastas are just amazing! I have been to maybe one Italian place that cooks pasta this well. Pasta is easy to mess up, because it’s so simple, so just cook it simply. That’s what Chris does. Quick note: my wife is not a big fan of pasta, and it’s the only restaurant in the world where she goes back(every week) for pasta! Anyway, my fav is the Wild Boar Pappardelle! I have probably had it 200 times and with all kind of modifications, and now I order it as is on the menu, no changes! The small plates are also just excellent — low on price and big on flavor! It’s a must with any meal. Our given order is the mozzarella and the panino. If you like chicken liver, this is the place — it’s made in house and very well balanced. Most other places are too thick, or too dry, or too salty. This one is perfect, they should bottle it! I also love the Braised Short Ribs — much better than anywhere else. It’s my default if i’m not having carbs for dinner. The fish too is excellent, all of it. The secret is to go back to this place 3 times within a month to get a true feel, plus they will get to know you. Then it feels like your neighbors house! I could go on and on and on but it’s that point again for the quick readers… The Good — Food, food, food! — Excellent wine list — small and precise — The people, very friendly if you send them a christmas card! — Great ambience — Romantic — Tons of parking The Bad — I want to eat there everyday! The Ugly — All the other bad reviews
