Big Papa’s

Decent food with quick and friendly service. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful! The Homewrecker pizza is good — fresh ingredients and tasty dough. We had the mango chipotle wings too, but they were not spicy at all. I guess we will pay extra to add more spice next time. Calzone is good; however, the sauce is too thin and sweet. We would come back but not sure if we would go out of our way to visit.

Still the best Wings in the San Antonio metropolitan area… Definitely have to try the Golden wings! Sauce is great, wings are meaty, and come out hot! They have others that are good too… mango chipotle, thai sweet chili, cajun. Specialty pizzas too… all good. And they are family run so treat you like ohana.
Plenty of tvs throughout the place and good selection of beer, a few on draft. If in the Schertz neighborhood, stop by… enjoy!

Love this place!!! Best pizza I’ve had close to our house! And they had amazing service. The only thing that would make me love it more was if they delivered! The struggle.

New to Schertz and happy to find this place. Went a couple times with my husband and it was really good. Ordered a pizza to go, waited a long time for it and when I got it home (only a 5 minute drive), it was soggy and bland. Pretty disappointed.

Fast and friendly service! The food was so good too. The mango Chipotle wings were sooooo good!
Buffalo chicken pizza was also a BIG hit.

Love the small town environment, TVs and sports on every wall, multiple varieties of beer and a very friendly staff. If you live in the Schertz area you need to check this place out

Our family went there on fathers day for dinner. I had an super good Calzone and a few wings. We all ordered something different and everyone enjoyed what they got. Our waitress was absolutely awesome. She remembered what everyone was drinking everytime and returned to our table frequently. Give that girl a raise! This was our first visit to this place and we will definately be back often, its a new favorite for us. Thanks to all of you for an excellent meal.

We love, love, love this place! Menu is limited, but what they have is very good. Great atmosphere, wonderful service, and good tvs. We love coming here to watch the games! I would highly recommend it for a pizza, a game, and relaxed atmosphere.

One of my favorite spots in this area for some wings and beer. This sports bar is kid and smoke friendly. So far everything I have tasted on this menu is good and no complaints after 6 visits. If you going to have some wings, I suggest naked with the sauce on the side.

Great pizza. The Big Kahuna is the most original Hawaiian pizza in town. The owner is from Hawaii and is a lot of fun to talk to. Drop in, have a beer and a slice of pizza and don’t forget to ask for the «Epic Portions» Appetizer. With Bacon, Pineapple, Jalapenos, and lots of cheese, you will love dipping it in their special sauce! Thanks G!

This used to be my favorite pizza around with their Hawaiian pizza. I have probably eaten here 50 times.
I ordered one last weekend and almost got sick. There was so much fat on the pork it was gross looking. Family would not eat it and when I called they did not care.
Guess the mighty dollar and greed ruined the owners pride!

The quality of pizza has gone down hill. This used to be the spot for great Hawaiian pizza! I like the décor, all the jerseys and what-​not. A couple years back this place used to be a yummy difference from traditional pizza’s with a very homely & casual atmosphere. My family and I have gone back 2 or 3 times but it’s just not the same. The pizza is terrible, sad to have to rate this a no-​go since we used to enjoy it so much before.

I like the pizza and the place. It’s a good location to cool off and have a meal and maybe watch a game if you have time. Staff very attentive.

Well, I made the mistake of giving them another chance…
Walked in for lunch, only one waitress was working the entire place. As I awkwardly stood in the middle of the place for about 20 minutes, I made the following observations…
The «bar» was covered with half eaten pizzas on warmers, also littered with trash, parmesan, pepper flakes, etc. Once again, they looked greasy and low quality.
Half the customers were old ladies eating brownies (?!?)
As I am not an old lady nor was I in the mood for a brownie, I came to the realization that I wasn’t going to get any kind of service any time soon and left. That’s what I get for giving a place the benefit of the doubt and trying again.

After a hunger-​inducing trip to the nearby Natural Bridge Caverns, we used Unilocal (nearby, «pizza», map) to find Big Papa’s.
First off, it’s not mapping right, as you’ll need to continue a bit further southwest on Schertz Pkwy. We learned this by calling, which leads to a funny story. The phone was answered and I my wife heard «Big Papa’s Church.» She apologized for calling the wrong number, explaining she was looking for a pizza place. «You have the right number.», she was told, and we were given directions to find it, just about a mile further southwest from Savannah Dr.
Big Papa’s was cool and inviting on this very hot day. I immediately spotted a beverage case and saw that there was beer in there, so I was already a happy camper.
We started looking over the menu and were confronted by a dizzying selection of delicious-​sounding options. Ultimately «The Big Kahuna» caught our eye. Described as «The house specialty with the Hawaiian Punch! (Portuguese Sausage, Kailua Pig and Pineapple)» We inquired about the sausage and pig and learned they are the real deal… And that to make Kailua Pig is a 15 hour process. If we got it right, the owner with Hawaiian roots, brings this item in from Hawaiian. After a description like that, we had to give it a try.
While we were waiting for our pizza the phone was answered and I heard, «Big Papa’s Shirts.» I asked the girl (I feel so bad I forgot her name… I think it starts with an R) what she said. «Big Papa’s in Schertz.», she replied, «Because there is also a Big Papa’s in Universal City and this cuts down on the confusion and mis-​orders.» So that mystery was solved.
Bottom line: Our pizza was fantastic. The Kailua Pig was delicious and tender. The Portuguese Sausage contrasted nicely and the pineapple gave it a perfect sweet element… All on top of a thin, perfectly cooked, crispy crust… Just the way I like it. I washed it down with an ice-​cold Stella Artois. It was the perfect lunch. Next time we are in San Antonio we will do our best to make it back to Big Papa’s.

Small local place with a great selection of pizza. Had the Epic portions and they were great. Also had the Epic pizza which is pepperoni, pineapple, ham and jalapenos on a thin crust. Washed that back with a few ice cold beers and would highly recommend this establishment. Sports theme decorations with several TVs to watch you favorite sporting event.
