We have gone to the Jolly Roger tap room in the past and gotten fine service. My husband and I went there tonight for a burger and brew,. We were treated badly which was a surprise. We walked in and sat at a table with no service. Two women came after us and were served beer immediately. After continuing to wait three men sat down in the booth next to us and were waited on immediately. I didnt understand so i asked why others who came in after us were given immediate service when our drink order was not even taken. Jason C replied we are busy, cant you see that? I said yes but people who came after us already have drinks. We placed our order and received our food We both asked for cheddar cheese and got swiss. The burgers were fine. We felt bad and i dont understand why we would be treated badly. Its sad as it impacted our experience.

Okay, this is really a five-star place, with or without the beer. If you’re looking for good food, this is it. If you’re looking for good beer, this is it. If you’d like to drop in on a «Cheers”-type neighborhood place, well, this is it. They have three TVs for sports fans, parking is easy, and all-in-all, this place truly rocks.

We came for the beer only, so we sat at the bar at the Jolly Roger Taproom and shared a flight. Service was very friendly and the beer was pretty good. Our favorite: Bourbon Barrel Jolly Roger Didn’t get the chance to try any of the food, but almost everyone else there had a big ass plate piled high in front of them so I’m thinking if you’re getting hungry on your brewery crawl, hit up Maritime for some grub while you’re at it.

Good food, service and lots of beer. There are plenty of photos and reviews about the drinks, so I’ll stick to our food. We had a party of 4 and tried the Brewer’s panino, caprese sandwhich, fish and chips and mixed green salad all of which we thought were fantastic! I had the brewer’s panino and I really enjoyed the beer-bacon jam which was sweet and salty and absolutely perfect for this sandwich. The fresh hop aoili had a nice bite to it and there was a nice heaping portion of shaved rip-eye and arugula. Definitely a solid choice and the«special hop gotcha menu» has a more interesting and unique flavor combination with the beer infusions than you’d find elsewhere. The caprese sandwich was also quite tasty and the hop aoili paired perfectly with the beer-balsamic reduction. I did not try this, but my guest thought that the roasted jalapeño tartar sauce accompanying the fish and chips is AMAZING(the best he’s ever had) and the Mahi was fresh and tasty. I would definitely recommend stopping by and trying something hop-infused for some great unique tasties!

Was tasty, fun, fast and friendly. Only thing I would ask is that the waiters do not carry the pepper grinders under their armpits when delivering the fresh ground pepper to the table or at any other time. Eeewwwwwww!

Great beer. Try some of the best on cask. I recommend the Islander Pale Ale Dry Hop for IPA fans looking for a change of pace. Food wise, the entrees change seasonally. The constant menu is sliders, salads, fries, onion rings and fried bacon. Fried bacon is a must one time. Staff is very friendly. Sit outside when the weather is nice. Good kids menu with the corn dogs as a fan favorite in our house.

Great cheese /beer soup! Nice flavor not too rich. Also a very good schnitzel with a hint of rosemary and thick bacon bits on top. This is from the Octoberfest menu. Num!

Excellent food, beer, service. We tried a couple beers and the pumpkin cider — excellent! Also had a veggie burger and cheeseburger — great quality, awesome buns. The fries were well seasoned, fresh mixed greens salad with a tasty vigineratte. Overall, extremely pleased!

This place had some amazing fish n chips when we stopped in just as happy hour started. The boyfriend and I did fish and chips with beer and were stuffed by the time we finished. The fish was flaky, perfectly done, and fried well. I got the Clipper Gold Hefeweizen, which was awesome and slkghtly citrusy, as well as the Jolly ale on Nitro($ 3 pints for happy hour!). Boyfriend got Nightwatch Dark Ale and said it was good but he liked the Jolly more. Worth a try!

Undoubtedly one of the worst experiences I have had since moving to Seattle. The servers were absent, unapologetic and argumentative. A group of us joined two of our friends who had been at a booth for a half hour. They server came by twice in the half hour they had been there and only brought them half of the order they placed. Our friends warned us that the service was bad, but we decided to give it a chance. After our full group of about 8 arrived, no servers came to greet us for another 10 minutes — despite having made eye contact and acknowledging more of us had arrived. Finally we had enough, so when we got up to go pay at the bar, one of the waitresses started pointing at us and yelling across the bar that we hadn’t paid yet. She bolted across the floor to confront us(I think she thought we were trying to get away without paying for the one drink they got around to bringing our group). When we explained that we were leaving because after 40 minutes they had come by twice, she argued with us, flatly saying that she had come by several times and didn’t know what our problem was. If you don’t want to deal with customers, next flip your open sign around.

I did not have any expectations when I visited this restaurant. We had a long afternoon of visiting various breweries and you can only take so many pretzels! He got a flight, I got lemonade. The lemonade was pretty tasty! We wanted a quick snack prior to a large dinner. We decided on the fried pickles and 3 lil veggie royals. The fried pickles were fantastic! Initially I thought about the onion rings based on other reviews. But these were delicious! The lil veggie sliders were a hit! My BF who never had veggie burgers before enjoyed these beauties. Tasty and very filling. I really enjoyed my food here and we had great service from Zoe. All told we were under 26.

The food here is delicious. I’m sad they don’t have gravy fries on the menu. I absolutely love the sliders and the staff is extremely friendly. The décor is definitely unique. Great atmosphere, great food, great staff

Arrrrr, mateys, walk your filthy bilge rat booties down the Ballard-Fremont Plank to the Jolly Roger Taproom. Chilly Philly: Moist. Yep. That’s the word I choose. Oh, and spicy. Poutine with Beecher’s! Sweet pulled pork is so stinkin’ flavorful. Skip the Pilsner. Chance on the Nighthawk for an interesting change of pace! And the deep fried bacon? Yaaaaaas!!! Our server was pretty cold, but the food and drinks, by far, make up for it. Enjoy, you buxom babes!

I’d been here eons ago when it was in a much smaller spot just down the road. This was my first visit to the new location(okay, not so new anymore), and I was really pleasantly surprised. The beer list offers a good amount of variety — it’s not just a list of IPAs, double IPAs, black IPAs, any-other-adjective IPAs that NW breweries often like to lean to. Sometimes I like a hoppy beer, but sometimes I don’t! I went with their flagship beer, the red alt, and I thought it was really delicious. The other bonus(and I’d say it’s a big bonus) is they have a good variety of vegetarian options on the menu. You can even get vegetarian sliders, which I hardly ever see! I ordered them and they were really yummy. There were other menu items(such as the mac and cheese, my Achilles heel) that I’m definitely planning to come back and try. Nice atmosphere, too. A couple unobtrusive TVs, decent music being played but not so loud you can’t talk over it, open table layout, and clean bathrooms. Service could use a little work. I did have to flag down the server a couple of times for refills, and this was when we were one of only four tables in there. Overall a good experience and I’ll be back.

The wait staff was really friendly, and the food selection is pretty extensive. My girlfriend had the pulled pork sandwich on a gluten free bun(house made) that was phenomenal. Get there for happy hour, but do be early, otherwise you’re in for a wait.

First time in here and I loved it! Nicely set up, friendly staff and convenient location There were a number of different beers, but I ended up falling for the«Double Double IPA». Great pub style food at a pretty good price. If there was one thing, besides the beer, I would recommend, you absolutely must try the«Beer Battered Bacon»!!! Nice place! I’ll definitely be back!

Grabbed a drink here with a friend in the early afternoon and wasn’t terribly impressed. They were clearly understaffed, and it took over 10 minutes to clear dirty tables so patrons could sit down. The beers weren’t anything special to me, and we didn’t get food. I liked the space though, and it was very bright with all the windows. The parking situation is dismal though. Overall, pretty meh, but sometimes that’s just fine.

Despite loving breweries Steve and I have not yet done the brewery district as it is called in Ballard. Nearly all of the cluster of berweries in this area are not open on weekdays. We went through the neighborhood once trying to try a few and the traffic and parking was so ridiculously skant and congested that we gave up. So I suppose to fully get the brewery experience we will have to try again on a weekend and do a «World’s End”(great movie by the way) like everyone else is and endure a long walk and the crowds. There is one brewery that is open during the week in this area though and that is Maritime Pacific Brewing Company and the their Jolly Roger Taproom. We swung in here a few days ago with a friend who was from out of town. We were not too terribly hungry but we got the happy hour habanero garlic french fries with a kind of horseradish ketchup. That was really good! I got a dark beer, The Nightwatch. It was nice and smooth and just what was needed on a rainy, chilly day that we were driving around town in.
