Since I was in downtown SS, I decided to have a glass of wine & listen to some music. I stopped somewhere else first, & will go back for the bar experience, yet wanted some fun… so I crossed the street & ended up here. The 1st floor had the dining tables, a long bar & a DJ section. I was informed of the Rooftop called«Olivia’s View», so i trecked up the stairs, & here I was. For 9ish, it was a nice crowd, about 85% of the 21 – 35 crowd, but a nice seat at the wooden bar & heat lamps, I was good to go. Miss Nicole was on her serving game, & felt bad they she had to offer me my Malbec(of course, what else?! LOL) in a plastic cup. I told her don’t let the wardrobe fool her, I’m old school & know how to do plastic cups.:hello, Red Solo Cups?! She handled her customers like a Champ & took very good care of me. After an hour of the DJ mixing & people watching, I headed downstairs to check out the vibe. There’s was another DJ who play unfold school music, so I danced a little while, had anther glass of wine, the Bartender was sooooooo chill & friendly, I enjoyed myself on the lower level as well. My foodie nosiness led my eyes around to peek at the plates of food, as they looked tempting. I’ll definitely be back to try the dining experience & hope to endure the same positive flow & great service.

I’m so sad that this place has fallen off. This use to be my fav once a week place. The staff looks the same but something is off. I went for a date last week and I was able to be seated quickly. However, most of the tables are reserved only. Folks were at the bar crowded but all the tables were empty. The Caribbean rolls were dry and smaller. I had some Cosmo drink that the waitress said was their best seller. It was disgusting. I also had the jerk chicken salad. Whatever they put on my plate was NOT chicken. It tasted like pork or something. The meat was really fatty and chewy. What part of a chicken has chunks of fat in it? The rum cake doesn’t taste like it use to. Sigh. On to find a new weekly spot.

This place has perfect mix of Caribbean and Soul Food. We visited on Sunday afternoon and were blown away by the brunch buffet. The place is kinda of small and not very kid friendly but it is a great place for adults to hang and eat. Customer service was good as well.

Love love their food and music! We had jerk chicken and rice which was spicy, but absolutely delicious. We also had calamari and wings ! Wow! The place was packed by midnight. I arrived there around 10ish and I didn’t have to pay cover of $ 10 but I think at a certain time they started charging to get in. The restroom was so clean even after 1am… I was so surprised. There was a young lady that made sure it was cleaned after each person. Overall we had a great experience.

Good eats! The jerk chicken was great, and the society specialty drink. We came on a Monday night and watched the game, so nobody was there. A live band usually plays throughout the week and their Happy hour specials are great!

My usual Sunday brunch group and I somehow ended up on this side of MoCo, and wanted to try something different. Voila the magic that is Unilocal. All I read was«Caribbean» and«Brunch» and I was intrigued. Solid life decision. Their unlimited brunch buffet is $ 30 and $ 7 for bottomless mimosas or $ 10 for bottomless bellinis. The food was actually really good. They had a waffle station and omlette station, and the usual bacon, sausage, brunch fare. And ofcourse since it is caribbean, there were jerk wings, fried chicken, peas and rice, cabbage, greens, plantains, shrimp, fried fish, mac n cheese… and lots more. The food was flavored very well, though it could have been a little spicier. The space is really cute and comfortable, and they have a private dining area in the back as well. Shout out to our waitress Kate! She kept the drinks coming, and was super attentive! Actually, the entire wait and host staff was really on their A game!

I had a really great time! The surprise band was a hit, not sure if local or not but it’s DC metro! My table was right by the dance floor. Even if I don’t want to join, its fun to see happy people. The menue is Southern Classy, Fresh fish, Crab cakes, Calamari, Rice and Beans… Bar is ample and Service is surprisingly good for such a loud atmosphere. Enjoy!

I love coming here for happy hour. And I always get the crab cakes and red mash potatoes. It’s a nice establishment and the atmosphere great. It’s just a nice place to chill and relax after work.

So very yummy! My first chicken and waffles and it was candy! The shrimp and grits were so so so good. Drinks were on point and the staff was accommodating, informative, and stayed on top of their jobs. The DJ played so many good songs, it was hard for me to tell if it was the music or the food that had me dancing in my seat. I will absolutely go again. I went on a Saturday, ate on the first floor, had a two hour limit on table, then danced the night away in the roof. DJ on both floors.

My sister and I went to society last night(Wednesday) for dinner. They had ½ price bottles of wine which was awesome. Unfortunately, I thought that it would have been more people there. When we walked in there were a solid 4 guest. I guess everyone stayed in to watch Empire(which they had showing on all three televisions). The live music was excellent! And I would definitely recommend the tilapia sandwich. ITWASSOBOMB!

Should I start w/the staff or the food. Everything about this place is exceptional. Everyone here spoke to us to greet us and make sure we were enjoying ourselves(from the waiters, to the cooks). The food is authentic Caribbean style(curry crab legs, beef stew, rice & peas) also with an omelet station and waffle station. This place also has bottomless mimosas or bellinis. We spoke w/the chef Demetrius about how good the food was and about how he made the food. I love it here and def w/be back!!!

I picked out Society to have Sunday brunch with my sister and mom and it was one of the best brunch spots that I’ve been to thus far! The food was amazing the crab legs were the best of the who entire brunch! I’ve never had crab legs that tasted so original and they were so juicy. You know they were that good when I spilled the juice on my pants– my favorite white pants and didn’t even care! The entire staff were very friendly and there was just great customer service all the way around. We asked to speak with the chef, Demetri and he was so adorable and gave us some great pointers on cooking– even though we are experts ourselves lol. The price was amazing for a brunch buffet with bottomless mimosas! I will definitely be back and brining more people with me!!!

My biggest problem with this place is it thinks it is way better than what is actually is. You cannot be that bougie! You are not all that. i came in(for free) on Sunday around 3:30PM. I thought it was just okay. My friend came around 5:30 and they charged her a cover charge of $ 15 which to me was ABSOLUTELYABSURD! A cover charge for a bar that you are going to buy drinks and food in!!! Oh but it must be for the live band, RIGHT… oh the live band that I could barely hear? it was loud and I am sure their voices were amazing and they were singing songs I enjoyed, but i could not make out any words because the sound system in the bar SUCKED. $ 12 martinis? i am sorry I did not know I was in downtown DC! The food was extremely limited. their menu had 4 options! I asked for a beef burger and they did not have it but they had turkey and veggie. Very weird… I would never go back if they dared charge me to get into a bar. That’s crazy.

Reggae Tuesdays at Society Lounge in silver spring with DJ Wayne Rennastone and DJ Paul Faith. When I heard that society Lounge was hosting Reggae Tuesdays my first thought was, on a tuesday! I wonder what the turn out will be being that people have to go to work in the morning. Upon arrival The First thing I noticed was that there was no line wrapped around the building I walked straight in, no bouncer no entrance fee. As i walked through the door i saw Wayne Rennastone jamming away on the turntables. The music in the beginning was more catered towards the Grown folks(people who enjoy a good lovers rock mix). You could see the joy on their faces as Rennastone brought them down memory lane playing hits from gregory isaacs, beres hammond, and others. Later that night Paul Faith certainly showed out for the younger dancehall crowed playing hits from Popcaan, Mavado, Vybes Kartel and more. Paul and Rennastone also played Afro club music from artist like Davido, Psquare, and Yemi Alade. The mood in this place is modern it carries a casual sporty feel. The environment at Society Lounge is very«dawnie» it is not pitch black. The air is fresh, clean, and well ventilated. Society lounge is a great place to bring a date. On this tuesday night the music was not too loud, perfect for talking to your lover while enjoying your favorite drink The New Roof Top It seems as if the roof top is where everyone wants to be. The upstairs is defiantly a great addition to society lounge. On the deck you are allowed to smoke hookah and Cigars. Conclusion Society Lounge is a great place to kick back and enjoy a nice meal while sipping on your favorite beverage. Fiona told me that the vibe here is different on Fridays and Saturdays but I kinda like the way Tuesdays are. It’s very layed back lots of space to breath. I support minority owned businesses as much as possible but, NEVERAGAIN! I’ve visited the restaurant/lounge four times this year on a Sunday evening to see a local band. I must say, my disappointment has grown with each visit to the point of(I WILLNOTRETURN). Staff needs major improvement! The older short haired woman at the front desk entrance is rude and unprofessional. Her demeanor should not be the first thing to(NOTGREETME) when I walk in the door. Is it $ 15 or $ 20 entry? Different every time. Tables are not first come first serve. Complained to manager…, she did nothing. In fact, she never responded at all. Sat in front of the bartender for 10 minutes before I finally asked her if she worked here. Drinks are weak but drinkable. Food is okay. SHOULDHAVEREADTHEREVIEWS

ZEROTURNAROUNDNOWWW. I wish there was zero to represent how this place was. After the owner got sent to JAIL it’s been DOWNHILL I guess. Friday night, came with my boyfriend to meet my friend and her sister, who had 2NASTY Long Island drinks but was not feeling good after them. OKAY. This is WHAT P*SSEDMEOFF. My friend tells me she asked for WATER(yes just water) twice within 30min and the response from the HIGHLYRUDE bartender was… …“I DONTDRINKWATER ” and laughs … I SAID whaaaaat? No he couldn’t have. Is he dumb, does he know he can be in jail for that ? SO I didn’t believe her and I ask, I get the same exact response and that idiot jerk laugh. How UNPROFESSIONAL as well as SAD. I ask another bartender and the manager comes to bring her a bottle water because YES I had to complain. HERHEADWASDOWNFORTHELAST10min and after she got her water THEN security was close to us and we just left. Summary: Place was way crowded past capacity. Place wasn’t clean, bartender and management was TERRIBLE!

AMAZING food, terrible customer service. I’ve been to Society Lounge three times(twice to eat and once to chill), and I will continue to come back, because the food is nothing short of astounding. It deserves 10 stars alone. However, the customer service here is atrocious. To make a long story short, if you come here during their peak hours(anywhere from 8PM-2Am on Fri-Sun), prepare to wait hours for your food, have issues with your check and ‘automatic gratuity’ and have to almost sell your kidney to get a waiter’s attention. What started out as a good Saturday night ended terribly because of a bill dispute which should have never existed in the first place. On my third time coming here, we actually sat up on the roof to eat(SN: you need reservations to eat at a table downstairs after 8:30PM) and the service was 1000000000 times better. I recommend coming upstairs if you want to eat and you don’t have a reservation. The food here is so good, and it actually amazes me that it tastes so well when they’re extremely busy(usually businesses suffer with quality as the size of the crowd grows). I’d love to come in during an off-peak hour to really see what they’re working with. I love the vibe here, classy African-American professional crowd with an age range mix of early-mid twenties all the way up to mid forties. They have a nice mix of old school hip-hop and R&B as well as the newer stuff for the 90’s babies like me :) GREATFOOD choices here would be the: J’s Jerk chicken, curry shrimp, Caribbean rolls, the mac and cheese, society wings and Cajun Pasta. The food here is so good I just pray I have decent service b/c I am willing to deal with anything just to get a taste of it lol… I’m getting hungry now!

Let’s see… where do I begin? OH Yeah… BRUNCH! The Sunday Brunch at Society Lounge is absolutely wonderful! I have been three time in the last 8 months and each time there was something deliciously new that I hadn’t previously tried. What I like most about Society Lounge’s brunch is that they offer a wide variety of food for the non-meat eaters unlike many brunches that leave us «no meaties» eating waffles, grits, and if we’re lucky some dry carved poultry.(Side Note: I don’t eat eggs either unless hard boiled) Brunch FAVES: Jerk Wings, CURRIEDCRABLEGS, Spiced Shrimp, French Toast(AMAZING!), perfectly prepared Plantains, Cheese Grits that are better than my Mommas. Dinner FAVES: Curry Shrimp Croquets, Society Wings(DROOL) Fried Chicken and Waffles and their Caribbean Rolls. Take it from a true Foodie – Check out Society Lounge!
