I was driving through Simi and stopped by for a sandwich. I was met by C.J. Martin who took my order. What a great representative of the company. She gave me advice as to what to order and made sure that I was happy with my choice. I HIGHLY recommend this establishment. C.J. is the best! Sincerely, Harry Hafenstaff, World Traveler.

I started a job in Simi for summer and I’ve been coming here everyday since I started. The sandwiches are to die for!

Today was the 2nd time I’ve eaten here and had an amazing experience. First of all, my sandwich(both times) were delicious. Secondly, the service was impeccable and every one I spoke to was very friendly. Christy took my order and was awesome and her father took our food to our table and checked on us to make sure everything was ok. I could not have had a better experience!

This is definitely my favorite sandwich spot in Simi Valley. If I was stranded on an island and was given the option to what I would eat everyday for the rest of my life… It would be the turkey bacon ranch sub from Firehouse. And the elderly man that works there is the nicest guy. I don’t know what his name is but I’ll call him Jesus for now.

Absolutely awful. I ordered the Capt. Sorensen’s Datil Pepper Grilled Chicken to go, intending to eat this in my office cube. I was asked if the suggested condiments were acceptable(OK) and if the«Datil Sauce»(described as ketchup with a kick) was acceptable(OK). Everyone was very nice. Got the sandwich, went back to my cube. When I opened the wrapper, a flood of sauce appeared. It slathered the entire circumference, soaking the top and bottom buns, dripping onto my desk and making a colossal MESS! I had to use a fork and knife to pick it up and put it on a paper plate, and the whole thing was so slippery, I had to throw the top bun out entirely. Now, I’m off my appetite, but I’m hungry, so I start to eat and, as Gertrude Stein said of Oakland, there was no «there» there. Almost tasteless. I guess Firehouse put out my fire, huh?

Some of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Service is quick. I love the Captain Sorenson hot sauce on all my food.

Went here yesterday and what a dissapointment it was. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. The service was quick and professional. But the sandwich was horrific. First the bread which was wheat was way over dense/thick not light and airy. The chicken salad had no seasoning and way to much celery. So, when you took a bite all that could be tasted was the thick wheat bread and celery. No other flavors at all — it was a wheat bread and celery sandwich! I was going to buy a cookie or a chocolate brownie, but the cookie was hard as rock and the brownie could have been used to break a car window. I gave two stars because hopefully their other sandwiches are better. But to screw up something so simple as chicken salad, well I am not going to find out about their other sandwiches. I will just drive right by on may way to Green Acres Market in Simi Valley for my sandwiches. Yet another example of the power of advertising.

The food is really good, I got the firehouse meatball sandwich. I like that they have a variety of hot sauces you can try. Staff is friendly and quality of food is good. Cute decorations and they really stick to the theme when it comes to a firehouse.

First off, wow! What a greatly run sandwich establishment! It is rare in America that you walk into a corporate«fast food» type of establishment and receive 5-star excellent service. I say in America because I’ve been overseas in Asia and they go to the next level and beyond because it’s part of their culture. But this place is right on par with that high quality customer service you expect to see in somewhere like Japan. Immediately upon walking in here I was greeted with a cheery ‘Hello, welcome to firehouse!” I looked at the menu for a minute and ordered my sandwich. The lady helping me, I think was the manager, but she was super friendly and helpful and even offered me a cup of water while I waited for them to make the sub, which I thought was a great touch. I used to eat at firehouse subs all the time when I lived on the East Coast, but I hadn’t been to one in forever since living out here in California. When I finally found that there was one nearby I was so excited, but at the same time worried that it might not be as good here as it was back home. I was not disappointed! I ordered the New York Steamer and it was just as good as I remembered it to be. Absolutely delicious! I wish there was one closer to me, but at least it’s not too far. I highly recommend the hook & ladder, new York steamer, smokehouse brisket, or really just absolutely anything from here will be really good. They have a ton of different hot sauces to choose from as well on their counter, with a number scale on them showing the level of spicy-ness. Pretty neat! This place is 1000x better than subway or jersey mikes or any of those other popular sandwich establishments, in my opinion.

Came by to bring my wife who loves Jersey Mikes, and after today, she said no more Mikes. This place is so good, it’s worth the drive from Camarillo…

I was on my way to Famous Daves upon arrival I noticed that they went out of business and this is how my worst experience started when I went to Firhouse Subs right next door and ordered the smokehouse beef and cheddar brisket sandwich. The sandwich was cold and it smelled like a dog food, supposedly it was pit smoked for 16 hours but more likely it was microwaved for 60 hours and when I brought the issue to the manager or the owner he was very rude and unprofessional. Too bad Unilocal doesn’t offer zero stars because that’s what they deserve.

So we were in the shopping center and looking for a place to get a quick bite. My son got the meatball marinara, he said it was good but small. We got the cheddar brisket and my wife liked it, I felt it was small for the price.

I’ve only eaten here once so far, but thought they made a pretty good sandwich. Food tasted fresh and was put together well. More expensive than Subway, but you get a better sandwich. There’s a decent amount of seating, but it’s very cafeteria-like in that it’s just a bunch of tables and chairs squeezed into a small location. I don’t knock them down for that, just realize it’s an «eat and go» type place, and not an environment that caters to sitting around and socializing.

As another reviewer said, this sub shop blows away the competition, especially Jersey Mike’s. Service was fast, friendly, and caring. We didn’t feel like just one more customer in the door; rather that they were glad we were there. Haley was excellent at the counter and with follow up. Sweet person! Bright, colorful, and full of firefighter decorations which is fun for all ages to be surrounded by. Their literature states they were founded by firemen. They offer various promotions via their website, and also raise funds for firefighter-related charities. The Hook & Ladder Light was quite tasty and satisfying given it was under 500 calories. The tangy sauce was an extra bonus to the warm temperature and plentiful meats and cheese. Will definitely return!

Firehouse is probably the #1 sandwich place I go too. On average I go like twice a week. There Brisket and Cheese Sub is to freaking die for. The atmosphere is always friendly– and I believe she’s the shift leader or manager, but whoever she is– She’s amazing. She has darker hair, always in a bun, and always eager to work and so helpful. Thank you for being an awesome place!

Sandwiches are great! Cookies are good too. Haven’t tried much else yet. Bread is always soft and fresh and the meat portion are good. Sandwiches are a bit pricey but I think you get a quality sandwich in return. They have a fun soda machine that let’s you pick all the different syrups for different sodas. They also have a hot sauce bar that they rate each sauce with a hotness number, fun to experience but I usually just go with the firehouse BBQ like hot sauce. Altogether my current favorite sandwich place in Simi Valley.

Let’s just say I liked this place more than my husband, and I thought it was just okay. Another typical Simi Valley mediocre establishment. The food wasn’t bad, but it’s not the top of the line sub establishment either, like Cricca’s, Bay Cities or Italia Deli. First of all, they don’t even have roasted turkey breast… it’s smoked turkey only, of which I am not the biggest fan… but it was as close to what I wanted as I was going to get. The other thing is that it’s not your top o’ the line meat quality, you know, that slimy texture that you get with true processed meats… that you don’t get in the top quality meats that are served ELSEWHERE. UGH. They charge kind of a lot to just offer slimy meats. The other ingredients were fine… lettuce, tomato, cheeses, bread, mushrooms… but again, nothing great. I had an «Engineer» sub, which had the smoked turkey, tomato, lettuce and mushrooms on wheat bread. My hubby had the«Hook & Ladder,» which was a smoked turkey and Virginia ham sandwich with lettuce and tomato. The place is packed, they do a great business, and well, like I said, it’s just okay.

A few weeks ago I thought i would give this restaurant another chance and see if the grand opening was just a fluke. The prices are still high but the sandwich i got was really good. The sandwich came with ham, roast beef and turkey with the fixings. This is my updated review and I’m glad I tried this place again.

WOW! Four alarm goodness! Our first time trying Firehouse Subs, and we have unanimous thumbs up from the whole crew. Tried the club sub, and then meatballs all around, with a side of chilli; amazing! Fresh and tastey, hot and yummy, outstanding! Super clean first impression, and if you order online, don’t come early, as the orders are made on schedule to make sure they are perfect when you are scheduled to arrive. Outside seating too, but not great if too windy. Great subs to be sure, and the food actually looks like the advertising photos, how rare is that? Try it, you’ll like it.
