I just had a delicious takeout order and I am a bit of a Japanese food snob. I ordered fried gyoza and a tempura combo which came with several choices one of them being 4 pieces of sushi, soup, salad and rice. I placed my order and showed up at the time I was told my order would be ready. It was very busy and every table was taken and I knew there was zero chance that my order was ready. No big deal to me, I ordered a delicious hot sake and watched the Laker game for a bit. As I finished my sake, my order was ready. They got everything exactly correct and the portions were good size as well. The sushi was fresh and delicious and the fried gyoza was as good as I have ever had.

I still have to say this is the best sushi restaurant in the area. We recently moved to Moorpark and drive back to simi just for the sushi. Jake and Edward(and the entire staff) make you feel like family and we enjoy dinner here most weekends. Try the yellow tail roll jake’s way! It is delicious!

Can’t comment yet on the food but I came in at 7:15 with 6 people already eating. I put in a to-go order(2 simple rolls) and still haven’t received my food however a couple that came in and sat down ordered well after me is already eating their first rolls. Customer service customer service…

When I lived in Simi Valley, I was home sick for the fresh fish I was accustomed to back home. Finding this little gem was a saving grace. The food was fresh, well prepared, and delicious. I was either there or ordered take out multiple times a week. The service was always fantastic. I look forward to visiting every time I’m in town.

Our favorite sushi restaurant. Best quality fish. I’ve tried other places and always come back. They don’t have all you can eat but I can tell the difference in the freshness of the fish. Jake the sushi chef has been there for years. We love this place.

The food is great. The service is amazing. The sushi chef(Jake) is very entertaining and makes a mean sashimi salad, handroll and Paul roll. Also good is the O’Honey roll. This is a very well-run family owned restaurant where the fish is fresh, the food is great and the service is outstanding.

We were in the area and were in the mood for sushi. Very small place and it seemed that the few customers there were regulars. They have a nice selection of rolls to choose from, and the sushi chefs were great at accommodating our request and very friendly. The service was slow, and I only say that because there were only a couple of other tables in the restaurant and it seemed to take a long time to get acknowledged, severed and follow up with. I was noticing how much togo business they do. If you are in the area and want sushi, it’s a good place to go.

I live in Wood Ranch and just tried this place for the first time … I am kicking myself for never coming here before! The moment we walked through the door, I’ve been so impressed. This is not your average sushi bar. Really quality fish, the chef recommended some special rolls and I am blown away… Definitely surprised by how good this place is. Their iced tea is even fantastic, if you can believe that! Will definitely be back again and again. This is high end sushi dishes at a neighborhood spot. Well done.

We live around the corner and ST has been here for a long time so I have no real reason as to why we have never tried this place. Very small Resturant. Just a few tables. Mostly a Sushi Bar. Very friendly. Whatever you want. A special roll. They will do it. But we did and it was really great. 4 different rolls and they were delicious. We will be back. Update: we have been back several times and it’s a 10.

I stopped here with a friend and tried my standard favorites — sunomono(cucumber salad), inari(tofu wrapped around rice) and a shrimp tempura roll. The server took our order quickly and our food arrived in a timely manner. My sunomono was minimalistic, but that was one of its positive qualities. It was little more than sliced cucumber in a light dressing, but the cucumber was slightly pickled, very crunchy, and the dressing was light and refreshing. I ordered my inari warm and it showed up just barely warm. It was simple, but good and I would recommend it if you like a basic inari without frills. Oh, we got edamame for an appetizer and it was good, though did not taste at all salted, which seemed unusual. The portion size was very generous on the edamame. My shrimp tempura roll gets a mixed review, overall positive. I loved that they took the main shell off the shrimp tails so you could eat the entire thing. It’s not hard to do and significantly enhances my dining experience. The shrimp was large, nicely flavored and succulent. The roll had tempura batter«crunch» sprinkled all over it, in very generous quantities. I love crunch. The downside was the sauce they added to the finished roll. Often this roll is drizzled with an eel sauce. Sushi Traditions uses a different sauce, tasting more heavily of soy sauce. It was very sweet, but didn’t compliment the roll as well as a good eel sauce would have. My friend ordered their Ken roll and enjoyed it a lot. He also tried their mixed tempura dinner and liked that too. I would not mind returning to this restaurant if I were in the area and craving some sushi or tempura.

Sushi Traditions has the best Sushi in Simi Valley. The quality and freshness has never let us down and we’ve eaten here over 100 times. This is a family owned business and they take care of their clients. The owner’s son Dan is awesome and always takes care of us. I recommend the Sushi to everyone!

Worst ever. 30 minutes to get a California roll and sashimi. Sent the sashimi back because of the smell and taste. The next«awesome hand roll» is mayo, a few scallops and fake crab. Waaaaay to much mayo. After all that we told them not to make the other rolls and left for a different plaCe. NEVERAGAIN.

What a pleasant surprise. I can’t believe I’m moving out of Simi after only trying this place out once in the last ten years. I went for dinner with a good mentor and was very pleased. Not only was the staff excellent and even funny, they were very cognizant of us our entire meal. They always answered with a smile and they answered«of course» with such enthusiasm which was nice to hear. The food, in addition, was fantastic. Sure, youre not going to get REALLY high quality sushi anywhere in this area. But the quality here is pretty dang close. 1. O Honey Roll — some roll with no rice but just crab and tuna(?). VERY good. The sauces really complemented the roll well and was a very good start to the meal. 2. Yellowtail Collar — wow! I usually don’t like cooked fish, but this was very delicious. My mentor also told me if the fish does not taste too fresh, the main sushi man was more than willing to replace it, no charge. The fish was so soft and with the sauce it is served with, it is delicious. And it was also cooked to the right point so that it was a nice golden color. Definitely recommend it. 3. Cucumber roll — nothing special but still nicely presented. More of a side dish, though. 4. Piano roll — I liked this one the best. The shrimp tempura inside was scrumptious and the avocado slice wrapping the whole roll made the texture soft when I was eating it, which gave a pleasant sensation. And the sushi man prepped it with just the right amount of rice, allowing me to savor the taste of the other ingredients rather than being bogged down by just rice. 5. Love wrap — amazing as well! My mentor recommended it, and it was very unique and delicious. Wrapped in soy paper, it has shrimp tempura, crab meat, cucumbers, and tuna(as I remember it) which is served with a sauce. With it, the wrap was so nice. You have to kind of keep holding it until you finish, but it didn’t take me too long before I was wanting more of it. And if anyone is afraid of trying soy paper, don’t be! I always thought it would taste weird but it was actually a nicer texture than the often drier seaweed paper. 6. Lastly, the udon — the noodles were nicely done. Often at restaurants, the noodle in the udon gets mushy and at the really bad ones they break as I try to lift them up with chopsticks. Not these noodles. It wasn’t the best udon I’ve had, but it was still a very nice finish to the meal. Ask for tempura flakes! It adds to the flavor. And the entire meal, the sushi man kept us entertained with a conversation, and we found him very funny. The staff is Korean, so fellow Koreans can converse in Korean. Overall, I loved my experience there, and will be visiting very soon. AND they have Starbucks right next to it, which allows for a nice coffee after the meal(which we did). Amazing food! Now I don’t have to go across town to get semi-decent sushi. Definitely recommend!

I’ve waited too long to write a review about Traditions. This place is the BEST! I’ve lived in Wood Ranch since 1998 and have been coming here for a very long time. The quality and service is outstanding. Jake is the MAN! Many times I’ve walked in and have told him to make me whatever he wants. Of course there are many other options to choose from. I’ve never been disappointed. What’s crazy is that I have been to numerous Sushi Bars in So Cal as well as throughout the U.S., and the local Sushi Bar just down the street from my house is one of the best! Enjoy!

I stopped by last night for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fish and nice service. I sat at the bar and ordered toro, yellowtail, salmon and Spanish mackerel sushi. All were fresh and excellent. Person next to me ordered a specialty roll he called the«Smoking Joe» roll and it looked delicious. By the time I was done with dinner, both the sushi chef and the waitress asked for my name, and made me feel very welcome. I will be back.
