Love this place! My mother had the best brunch on Mother Day! Our waitress Jenna was so kind and caring to my aging mother. The eggs Benedict and Amaretto French Toast were amazing. Highly recommend if you come to island stop at this place for an absolutely great meal and great personalized customer service!

Excellent crab cakes and buttered crusty bread. The oyster po boy was great ! Some of the prices felt off though — my crab blt had SOMUCHDELICIOUS crab for like 14 bucks but the hush puppies(while yummy) were 6 bucks — for maybe like 10 small. hush puppies. I’d go back though, and try new stuff !

I was disappointed to see that The Striped Rock has new owners and a new menu. The items, soup and sandwiches, might be tasty but they didn’t have our favorites that we came for. They said that they will have a full menu after the first of the year. They are still dog friendly but no longer have a dog specialty menu or nice big water bowls. They seemed to be overwhelmed by an unexpected mild December Sunday. Lets see how they do come summer time when they have had more time to get their affairs in order.

Great service and food. The crab cakes are amazing as always and the desserts are homemade and to die for!!! I highly recommend this place based on the positive servers and good food. The prices are a tad high on some items but they are still ironing out their menu. Overall highly satisfied.

So the new Stoney’s Striped Rock at Solomons. Service was great; staff friendly and attentive. New menu is a combination of new items and old favorites from The Striped Rock and the Pier. I had coffee to drink, the Braised Chicken Flatbread, a side salad and the Cheesecake selection du jour, which was Oreo(deserts are made in the restaurant and frankly it made the meal). The side salad was very nice — fresh vegetables and plenty of dressing(always more than I need to be fair at most any restaurant). The flatbread was good if simple — the sauced braised chicken topped an oven warmed Naan with a bit of sour cream and jalapeños, as well as a helping of mixed shredded cheese. I would’ve preferred a little longer in the oven to crisp it a bit myself. The Oreo Cheesecake with chocolate drizzle and whipped cream was fantastic. I would happily have it again. And again… The good thing about starting in winter is they can get the menu lying flat and get used to everything before the spring and summer crowds, which will be here inevitably like the swallows returning to Capistrano. We’ll be back for sure since it’s just a quick hop over the Patuxent for us.

We stopped in here while at the annual Christmas Walk. A sign on the door said they were under new management and had a limited menu. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated which was understandable given the crowds out for the parade that night. The staff was very friendly but the food was disappointing. We had a half order of rockfish bites as an appetizer, they were really mushy and didn’t taste fresh. I ordered the southern MD grilled cheese(country ham, a crab cake and cheddar in grilled sourdough). The crab cake tasted like tuna fish and the cheese wasn’t melted. I’m not usually a picky eater and I couldn’t finish it. Hopefully this place is able to improve their menu as they have a nice location and the potential is there.

8÷24÷2013 We ate there for my birthday. The décor is fresh, modern and inviting. The location at sunset, Stunning! If weather is nice definitely reserve a table on the deck. The food actually was quite good however there were a few quirky additions that we didn’t understand. First, my husband had perfectly prepared soft shell crabs with a tomato basil sauce. The sauce was tasty but the crabs were drowning in it and what was the point of the two slices of Brie? There wasn’t any type of bread, cracker or fruit to be had on the table. My salmon was served in a delicious red pepper, spinach cream sauce. In fact in was served in a bowl so it looked more like soup with a piece of fish thrown in than an entrée. All of this could easily be rectified because the bottom line is that the food was very nice. My main concern was our waiter. He did not know how the food was prepared or able to answer our questions about the menu. He disappeared for such long lengths of time that we had to ask another server to assist us. He couldn’t even pronounce macaroons. Which by the way were heavenly! If they can get some of these things taken care of they will have a hit on their hands. Sunora

The Striped Rock has a lot to offer. Great food, good bands and if you sit outside out front at sunset a view that beats all(except the pier) with street/sidewalk action as well. The side bar with music or quieter front albeit some street sounds both provide nice spaces for your 4 legged guests along with their water bowl and specialised treats in season. Service is almost always on top just a few bad glitches in the past. If I were to recommend anything… fish tacos. They beat anything else on the island or surrounding waters.

Came here for breakfast three times and i loved it. pricing is reasonable for breakfast. I’ve tried the chicken and waffles, Fried Green Tomato Egg Benedict, and charter boat breakfast dish. I need to come for dinner one day and try that out

What a great place for breakfast. We stopped here on a beautiful early fall Sunday and sat outside on the porch. We had the Shrimp and Grits Eggs Benedict and Fried Green Tomato Crab Benedict. The portions were huge and both were delicious. The Fried Green Tomato Crab Benedict was especially good– it had a thick slice of green tomato, a wonderful hollandaise and a really nice red tomato and onion relish.

Real sweet location — but not even worth a drink. Overpriced pathetically made cocktails. Crab dip tasted like tuna fish — completely slathered in cheddar cheese. It’s just as wretched as it sounds. Ordered the local soft shell crab sandwich… what a complete disappointment. Batter is thinly optioned, bun is off the shelf and stale. The crab however, is the real dark crown here — simply foul. Crab was deflated, overfried and served in a pile of sadness. Complete miss y’all. We are 45 feet from the water. Damn… The staff is the single gem here — pretty congenial with personality. Sunny — our diligent waiter was personable and expediently responsive to our every need. Bottom line: Bypass the striped rock and head to any other Solomons option — lighthouse, the multiple stoneys or Charles Street(my new favorite).

As we walked up onto the the front porch, we were oggled by the staff which were all hanging out by the side-door to the kitchen smoking cigarettes. Literally. Staring. Right. At. Us. I ordered a cream of crab soup as an app. It tasted like canned cream of whatever campbell’s soup before the milf was added. It had the consistency of tepid bacon grease. They dropped some lukewarm crab meat on top of that. My entrée was Rock Fish Stuffed with Crabmeat. The rock fish was dry and the sloppy CRAPmeat had so much mayonnaise I felt like I was eating egg salad. Way too much money for this shite. On the brightside, it faces west so you will get a great sunset. Our waitress was very attentive, dealt with numerous special requests(I hope they didn’t lick our food), and the drinks were very good. We had an Orange Crush and Margarita. I guess this place caters to tourists who don’t know what good food tastes like or they just don’t care because you wont be back regularly.

This place legitimately rocks(cheesy pun intended) Not only were we warmly welcomed, our pup was too! The grapefruit crushes were stellar as was the food– we had rockfish bites, fried pickles, and coconut shrimp… We devoured those quickly… However not as fast as our dog chowed down on the duck from the puppy menu! We will be back soon!

One week ago we had a wedding rehearsal dinner at The Stripped Rock. I can’t begin to express what an incredible job the staff at SR did, how they anticipated our every need and made our party such a rousing success. After a little confusion in scheduling caused by a computer glitch, staff stepped in and rescued the day. Of course it didn’t hurt that the weather cooperated and allowed us to begin our evening with drinks on the deck while listening to the regular Friday night band at the outside bar. Cheese and crackers and vegetable plates were stationed all around so people wouldn’t be drinking without something to munch on. Indoor tables were arranged to our specifications with pretty tablecloths and napkins and numbers for our seating plan. Food was presented buffet style and tables were called to prevent lines. I wanted crab to showcase southern MD food to my New England friends. I could not count the number of people to told me the CRABCAKES were the best they’ve ever had, and that opinion from Maryland people too Chicken was provided too, but not just any CHICKEN. CRANBERRIESANDWALLNUTS inside the rolled chicken breast. I don’t remember what they called it but it was great and also received raves. Rounding out the entres was a perfectly cooked tenderloin sliced at the table. Rounding out the table were vegetables and potatoes. We didn’t want a served desert that would just stay on the tables when everyone left so they suggested chocolate covered strawberries and what a display that was, dark and white strawberries so pretty you were afraid to wreck the display. Saturday I wished I had had the presence of mind to bring a box back to the hotel with me. OK. I’ve rambled enough. The facility, bar/restaurant on first floor, function Room/bar/and deck on second floor and bar/seating /stage out back with a perfect view of the river and sunset through the bridge is a wonderful setting for a party or just dinner and drinks. Staff is incredibly solicitous and efficient. Prices, by this New Englander’s standard are very fair and won’t break the bank STRIPPEDROCK will be a regular stop on our frequent forays into Calvert County.

This place was incredible. The waitress, Shanonn, was so very nice. We were made to feel welcome and the quality of service was top-notch. The food was incredible as well. We had the conch, the rockfish sandwich, the potato appetizer, and the cheddar burger. I highly recommend all of the above! The restaurant has a great vibe and awesome staff. We can’t wait to go back!

Would I come here again? Sure! Would it be my top choice? No. My co-workers and I visited The Striped Rock, after a day long meeting, right around happy hour time. We all sat and took up most of the bar and ended up ordering dinner as well. I was surprised to find that at happy hour time on a Wednesday they were out of baked potatoes. For a place that offers entrees like steaks, I thought it was a pretty basic but easy to correct issue. Low hanging fruit. My steak was a little overcooked and seemed to me to have come from a frozen state, so it’s not the worst I’ve had but certainly isn’t in my top 10 either. The Striped Rock is pretty small — the top floor, we were told, is only available for large party reservations/banquets, but the atmosphere is light and airy with a beautiful view of the pier. The bartender was also very friendly and accommodating which always makes a so-so plate of food a little better.

After trying many restaurants in the area, I can officially decide that the crab cakes at The Striped Rock are the best(in my opinion). So much crab and not filler, cooked perfectly, and just tastes exactly as it should. I’ve literally never had such a good crab cake sandwich. Also, Kevin is an awesome bartender with a fun personality and a great hand for drinks! Love sitting out on the deck and people-watching or seeing the sunset.

Had breakfast here before skipping town and heading south to the ICW. We got there before they even opened at a few minutes until 7, We were prompltly waited on by Doug, one of the other patrons! He hooked us up with coffee and water unitl the real service began. I had eggs, bacon and home fries. All OK. My husband had the omelette. Home fries could have used some more time on the stove but all in all this was an entertaining stop. It isn’t everywhere you can go where the people who eat there wait on you on as well. Thanks Doug!

I’m a vegetarian. I have no business reviewing a seafood restaurant, but I can review my overall experience, right? I went with a group for dinner after work. We were seated quickly and had an overly attentive, but sweet waitress. She remade a drink for a coworker when it was too strong. Our group was slow getting there, and she made sure everyone got taken care of as they arrived. My problem is that they were out of MANY things. They were out of Grey Goose, the ingredients for the Strawberry Brie salad(the one thing on the menu I could eat…), and the scallops. The staff tried really hard to accomodate us, but it was still disappointing. The house salad I ended up getting was tiny, and it was just lettuce and a few grape tomatoes. It was $ 6.99. That’s not ok. I can’t really review the other food, but my coworkers who got steak said it was quite good, although one who ordered hers cooked«medium» said it was overcooked. The others who had crab cakes did not like them. They had a lot of filler and one said hers was like eating stuffing. Two stars for trying hard, but I can’t give more because they lacked in so many other areas. And they overcharge for a super simple salad.
