If this had a zero star option, I would give it. When we got there with my sister in law who is from out of town, my girlfriend and I, were greeted by what seemed to be a disgruntled hostess. She was more interested in her phone than anything else. Once we were seated the waitress came over and tossed the basket with the napkins and utensils onto the corner of the table. The totally uninterested waitress took our order. She brought back mozzarella sticks and dropped one next to the table and did not say anything but oops, I’ll replace it and then didn’t replace it, not that it was any good anyway. After that it took forever to get the check. Hopefully it was just a really bad night and not a good representation of this place.

Under new management. First time here, it was a beautiful day so we sat on the back deck. Outstanding view of the bay, loved watching the boats come in and out. The place is extremely clean. We were greeted and seated by Dawn who is adorable and very friendly. We had happy hour cocktails, an orange crush and cherry lemonade crush both absolutely delicious. We breezed through the menu which is the casual menu with some seafood flares, we later found the menu is completely changing very soon since it inherited was from the previous management. Not a bad menu but the specials fabulous and will be part of the new menu. The salmon fish tacos with a pineapple salsa and cilantro aioli were cooked perfect. Great place eat, drink, and relax by the bay.

New management but still one of the worst in Solomons. It appears that many of the items are preprepared and probably frozen. There were no scallops to be broiled as a main course but scallops wrapped in bacon as an appetizer were available. The drinks are served in plastic cups. The French fries appeared to have been frozen as they were brown but mushy. The servers were inattentive even though the restaurant was almost empty at 8pm on a Saturday night.

A fantasic dinner., thank you Dawn,(mgr). I had the crab cake & green beans, the best i ever had! The crab cake had no filler & broilled perfectly. I highly recommend! Oh, did i mention the amazing view and festive outdoor atmosphere. The only negative was the $ 7 for ok wine, served in a plastic cup. In Solomons we are used to larger pours for $ 7 and possibly recommend a stemless, plastic like cup. Very nice. Wishing you, luck !!!

Just was told that the kitchen was too backed up to seat new customers, but there empty tables and no wait. If this is the standard for new management, I wouldn’t recommend.

Terrible service, waited for drinks, waited over 30 minutes for appetizers. Dinner even longer. Staff seemed overwhelmed and untrained. Lovely setting but that’s it. We left before we even received food.

The Island Hideaway is not a bad place and they have a great view with an outside deck overlooking Solomon’s Island harbor. The problem is their service. The servers are nice enough, when they server you, but getting service is painful at best. We’ve been to Island Hideaway four times and we had terrible service every visit. Our last time, the hostess sat us quickly enough, so they knew we were there. Then after 15 minutes of not so much as a hello, we left for another place where we could actually get served. This is only the second time in my life I’ve left a place because of bad service. We have never been here when they were crowded so they can’t use that as an excuse. As luck would have it, we’ve almost always had the same server :-/She’s friendly, she smiles, she gets your drinks in a reasonable time once you’ve ordered them, but good luck getting her attention to actually take your order or give you your check. They may just have a problem with one server, but since we always seem to get her, we will not be going back. Maybe in a year if they are still in business we’ll give them another try. For the people who say this is their«secret hideaway,» enjoy it while you can because if they don’t make changes, they wont be in business for long.

No service, not bad service not NO service at all. We got tired of waiting and went to the bar. $ 9 for a gin & tonic is robbery.

My family had lunch here last Sunday. As we walked up to this place, our first thought was«Jimmy Buffet Dive.» But soon we liked this little, unpretentious joint at the water’s edge. The weather was warm and beautiful, so we sat outside on the deck under an umbrella. It was so relaxing to watch the boats– and big yachts– cruise lazily in and out of the marina. The food was very simple and good. Try the crab dip. It’s loaded with lump crab meat and not as expensive as some places, where you get less crab and more cheese. I had a fish sandwich: perfectly fried and not greasy, with a tasty tartar sauce on the side. Simple and good, as I said. Service was polite, attentive and very nice.

I am not the type that really writes any reviews but I have to give this place 1 star, would be less if I could. $ 14.95 for a dozen fried oysters that fits in to about 5“x7″ plate is ridiculous. We had just the appetizers so I couldn’t say more than what I ate. The fries with cheese and bacon were just that, fries with shredded cheese(most likely from a bag) and some bacon bits. The fried oysters were greasy and small and I mean tiny the size of mussels. To end the meal we asked to split the checks in halves and they charged us 1.5 times the check so we had to wait for them to correct it. Would totally understand if it was an honest mistake when it was busy times, but this is the not busy lunch times and zero excuse for that kind of mistakes

Very courteous staff. The amount of food for the price was a great deal, and it tasted great!

Sitting off the main road this place has a nice parking lot which is premium at times. They have dressed up the outside with bamboo and nautical decorations which is a nice touch. You can dine inside or on the deck overlooking the channel and boat slips facing east. Behind the bar on the west side of the building they have a large flat screen TV receiving a video feed from a camera facing the bridge so you can watch the sunset. Again, a nice touch. Something for everyone on the menu from salads, steaks, to seafood. I’m from the SE and ordered the fried shrimp, fries and slaw. They were good(not equal to fresh on the US Gulf Coast, but good for Maryland) and served hot. The hushpuppies with honey appetizer was very good. My wife ordered the stuffed shrimp. She received three jumbo shrimp stuffed with lots of crab and said they were very good. We tried the Orange Dreamsickle(Sp ?) cake which was OK, but could have used more icing between the layers. We would dine here again and take friends.

I went there last night for a small retirement gathering on their deck. The atmosphere was amazing, the food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. I chose from the sandwich list, as did most people in my party and the portions were very generous. There was even live music. I will definitely be back.

First, it is really nice to see someone back at this location serving really good food. The new owners are a family business, and it has a very relaxed family atmosphere. Don’t let that fool you, the food is amazing. I had the crab Imperial, which reaffirms why I do not ever order crab on the west coast. You just can’t get crab anywhere else as good as Maryland. This dish was cooked to perfection full of very rich flavor made-to-order not preheated and was utterly fantastic. all their desserts, are home made and it was hard to choose, but I picked the lemon crush which is sort of a pie but sort of not hard to describe but very very good. I was served by Sandy the owner who made me feel very welcome and made me feel like she was cooking specifically for me that kind of service is very hard to find these days. I will look forward to returning on my next visit to the Patuxent River area.

Recently decided to try this new place that opened in the building that previously housed Digiovanni’s. The verdict? Well, the jury is still out. There were some bright spots and some room for improvement. The old gravel driveway and parking remain. First impression of the interior is that it’s not a large space. Only 11 tables and ten bar spots. The décor has not changed much but now the tables sport paper place mats. The ambiance reminds one of the old Captain’s table restaurant, which went out of business last year. The island hideaway does still have the nice outside waterfront deck area, but it was 20 degrees outside during our visit so that was not happening. We were seated quickly in a mostly empty dining room at about 5:30pm, but within about ten minutes of our arrival every table was full. And only two servers were on duty. I peeked into the kitchen on a trip to the restrooms(clean, BTW) and there were only two people in the small space cooking, so I knew we were in for a wait. The menu was mostly seafood, with a couple of chicken dishes(they were out of one, the fried chicken) and a prime rib entrée. The side dishes were not tantalizing(green beans, fries, Cole slaw, etc). We settled on a rumaki appetizer that was not bad and was served with really good BBQ sauce. It appeared to have been made ahead of time and heated under a broiler. My wife then ordered a bowl of seafood chowder. It was tasty but not a very big bowl and mostly full of potato chunks; none of the expected scallops put in an appearance. As for me, I went with the fish sandwich. Two small and thin pieces of broiled haddock on a bun with the usual condiments. It was ok. The fries were also ok, but cool, not hot. After all this we were still hungry so we ordered some of the home made cakes. The dessert serving sizes were enormous and both the chocolate and the coconut were very good. Menu prices were medium high for the entrees and appetizers but the house wine was only $ 4 a glass. That’s right, not a typo, four bucks! Beer was advertised at $ 1.50 per draft. So, overall, weren’t unhappy but also not overwhelmed. It was just ok. The setting right on the water is nice, so I’m hoping they improve the food. Too bad it isn’t Italian, Solomons Island really is lacking in that type of food and did we really need another Stoney’s or Lighthouse?!

We ate here a couple days ago. I have to say the food was very good. Also the view of the boats in the water were very good as well. They have a full bar for watching sports if you like to, and the music is not overbearing so you can still have a conversation. I got their fish sandwich with coleslaw on the side. Some of the others in our party got the seafood chowder which looked and smelled excellent. Someone in our party also got the crabcake sandwich which had very little filler. The only knock on the place if I have one is the front of the restaurant. It really needs a facelift. It looks like some shack or something from the parking lot, which is odd considering the restaurant is brand-new. But as I said before the view from the dining seats overlooking the water and the boats is breathtaking. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
