The only place in town open before 8 am — coffee was good, but self serve in those plunging thermos jugs — so not piping hot limited food menus —

Horrible food. Don’t waste your money like we did. No flavor in the sandwich and soup out of a can.

Though I really love the service here(the family that usually works is the sweetest) the coffee is watery & tasteless.

The Heart Rock Coffee company(formerly the Heart Rock Café) has been renovated and is beautiful on the inside and outside. The new menu consists of custom grilled panini sandwiches, and some standard breakfast items. Sandwiches come with a choice of soup, salad, or chips. Prices are moderate, and ice cream is also available. Coffee drinks include lattes and other usual fare.

My wife and I came here for breakfast. We had their version of an Egg McMuffin plus a cappuccino and coffee. The service was ok and my wife said the coffee was good. The Egg McMuffin was tasteless and dry. Worst yet, they did not even toast the English muffins. I as the person behind the counter for some hot sauce and they did not have any. As for the cap? Coffee flavored water. We will not be coming here again.

I love this place! It’s more than just a coffee shop, it’s a non profit that helps people in need.

Walked in expecting coffee, got blindsided by(literally) the best americano I have ever had. Holy smokes.

Cute little café in the heart of old town Sonora. I was with a local and asked her if the coffee was good here. She said it was. The girl who was running the place… she seemed to be by herself. Then again, it wasn’t busy at all. I was here yesterday, before noon. I had been here years ago when they first opened and was happy that they are still thriving in the recent struggling economy. My iced mocha wasn’t the greatest. I could tell that the espresso was poured over the ice because it was watered down. They use Ghirardelli chocolate too and I even asked for(short shots) and it still didn’t taste right. I AM a coffee snob after having been in the coffee business for nearly a decade when I was younger. I need to get in there and teach them how to make the perfect mocha, every time. I wish I had tried the food or something else, because I(want) to like this place. I do have to say that the girl who was running the register, bringing out food orders, and making coffee drinks has EXCEPTIONAL people skills and provided a great experience for every customer who walked in the door. She is very friendly and made me feel quite welcome.(Let’s make this review 3 ½ Stars just for the service.) I will be back then next time I’m in town and will give them another shot of earning my business. I love to support local, family owned businesses because I know what it takes to keep the doors open against fierce competition.

Coffee was not good. I ordered a cappuccino and they made it with coffee instead of espresso. Service was lackluster. Would NOT go back!

Now, I’m rating the drinks here! I had a chai latte there last week and it was the best I’ve ever had. Hard to find things to compete with Day-O around here, but this was seriously yummy. The lady who made it surprised me with a shot of vanilla because I told her I liked my drinks sweet. I was impressed!

Great coffee and a fantastic cinnamon roll! Nice atmosphere when the high school kids aren’t cutting up.

I just stopped in there for a quick coffee and use of their wifi, and even though the coffee is only decent, Heart Rock put me in the Sonora mood, so the fourth star is for the friendliness and sheer cuteness of the place. There’s wifi and great seating, and apparently if you go at the right time, there’s even live entertainment(saw a cute little stage). It appears to be a relatively popular local hangout(Wednesday late morning: a trio of retirees sitting around shooting the breeze, a few younger locals on laptops sipping coffee). Not sure when I’ll be back in Sonora, but I’m looking forward to returning someday(and maybe even trying the food) when I have a little more time to spend.

First off we have never had bad service here… but that is just us. Any time that we are in the area we stop here for lunch and it is always very tasty. The sandwiches and salads are fresh and very good. Our favorite thing to get here though is their Chai Tea Latte. It is the only place in California that I can find that serves the same kind of Chai Tea as the Café I worked at in Downtown Hawaii. So tasty. It is a little hole in the wall type place but we have never had an issue.

I really like this place to stop in for a great coffee drink. They have the greatest costumer service around. The staff is friendly, and go over and above to make sure you are satisfied. I wish all business in Sonora could be this way. They have many, many different drink items, hot or cold and make a decent sandwich without having to pay an arm and a leg. The shop is also quieter so it’s great place to stop in, get a great cup of coffee and have a little break from the busy downtown crowd.

Terrible service! My sister and I were walking up Washington Street, and I decided to stop in for an ice cream cone. The place was EMPTY except for 2 other customers, so this was not a busy day… there was one girl behind the counter, who saw me waiting for service with ice cream but was in the middle of making a sandwich so she let me know she would be there in a moment. I said OK. While she was making the sandwiches, she was chatting with another girl(I assumed a friend who was visiting her at work) who was leaning on the counter talking to her. After we stood around waiting for literally about 10 minutes, the girl who was leaning on the counter NOTDOINGANYTHING finally wandered over and served us our ice cream. Turns out she was actually an employee, and just decided to stand there talking to the girl making the sandwich instead of helping us. I was very annoyed! Based on the other reviews it appears I am not alone in my disappointment with their service. Shape up, Heart Rock… you’re losing customers!

That should be five negative stars!!! It took 30 minutes to get two coffee’s. I wanted to leave at that point but my wife wanted to stay. The biscuits and gravy were absolutely a joke! She microwaved a beer pitcher full of watered down gravy and then poured on top of two dinner rolls from a package(they call these biscuits). Then the stuff was not hot enough so she puts the whole plate with biscuits/sausage/gravy soup back into the micro. I thought the Army prepared me to eat garbage, but I could not even try this shit. Got my money back and went somewhere else. My prediction; They are out of business in less than a year tops. This whole joke took an hour! Fucking idiots!!! New Rule: No food on the table in less than 30 minutes, I am gone. No exceptions. My wife now agrees with me.

A decent café/coffee shop to drop in for a sandwich, salad, snack or coffee. There is room to sit and relax with a coffee or you can take your order to go. We ordered a couple of sandwiches and they were OK, but nothing to write home about. Sandwiches come with a side, one of which can be fresh fruit, potato salad, etc. The potato salad was very good. The mocha was also quite good. Also offered are pastries, salads, soups and perhaps other items on daily specials. Service was friendly enough, but the order took quite awhile to come and was not correct as we requested a couple things not be put on the sandwiches and they were there. They bring in live bands to play music on certain evenings which is fun. Overall, this place is OK and I might stop in when I’m in the area for a coffee or snack. I think it fulfills it’s purpose as a coffee shop & place to sit, read and relax, but I would recommend going elsewhere for lunch/dinner.

Went in this evening, listen to a local band, friendly staff. located at Washington & Jackson Streets in downtown Sonora. Serving coffee, light drinks and a place for a sandwhich, salad.
