My apologies to China Garden this review was meant for China Café. I’ve yet to try this place so I will update my review when I do, for now I’ll leave an average star rating It’s a sad state of affairs if this is the best Chinese food in SoHill. We got the C combo. All fried items were cold soggy and reeked of dirty fryer oil. I literally spat out a half chewed orange chicken bit– it was so disgusting and the sauce for it, was a nondescript coagulated mess. The other items such as the kung pao chicken was comprised of the same vegetables as all the other dishes, flavour wise there was no difference with the exception of some random peanuts. The Wonton soup, usually a favourite of mine was the same story, same vegetables like, broccoli, carrots in an insipid broth no bok choy to be found. All in all the worst $ 80+ ever spent absolutely the worst Chinese food I’ve ever attempted to consume.

I like Asian food. I felt everything I’ve tried from here is super bland. If I have to coat it in sauce after they bring it to me? What am I paying for then? I’ve been twice. And I’ve been twice too many.

Meh! Someone reviewed on here that this was a good as what you get in China town in San Francisco… Uh, I think not. Don’t know where this guy ate in China town but this doesn’t even come close to what you get there. I’m leaving this review short and sweet, this just doesn’t meet my expectations for good Chinese. Call me snobby or too picky if you must but, I’ve had better. This is hard for me to say but… I would rather eat Panda Express and if you know me at all that’s not a good sign. Sincerely, desperately seeking scrumptious Chinese in Spokane.

After an exhausting day enjoying Spokane, I needed some good tasting sustenance so after a short discussion we all decided that this was the place to go. We arrived before the Saturday evening rush and we were seated immediately. As there were four of us it made sense to order a family-style meal so, as we wanted some chow mein, we ordered the dinner #2, with a honey shrimp walnut dish as our extra plate. The food was served quickly and there was enough to feed four hungry people with a little left over for the dog. The waitress was very attentive and we always had water refills. As the meal progressed the restaurant filled up yet the service remained excellent. The meal was a complete success and we will return again.

I certainly would never have come here based on driving by(unless I’d checked the Unilocal reviews), as there are so many choices on the South Hill, except my mom suggested the place for Mother’s Day weekend, and who argues with a mom on this weekend? Since there were four of us, we opted for the Family Dinner B, and our one additional choice entrée was the Triple Delight. Food was excellent. Soup had fresh snap peas and great flavor. Barbeque pork was as expected and the yellow mustard strong enough to give a brain burn or a thorough nasal cleaning. Chow Mein was as good as any I’ve had. Honey fried shrimp is worth a try. Very interesting flavor, crunchy and addictive. Plenty of food to go around, and even my parents’ new dog enjoyed some of the leftover fried rice when we arrived at their house, but that dog might eat anything.

They make almond chicken just the way I like it, and portions are generous. I will absolutely be going back.

My son and I really enjoy coming here. Portions are huge! So we can share. Service is fast and friendly. Price is reasonable for the amount of food you get. The almond chicken is the BEST!

I came to visit Spokane to meet my bf’s family and I was picking up some stuff from rite aid and noticed a Chinese restaurant next door so I went to try it. I ordered their hot and soup soup(my favorite) and their honey walnut shrimp and Mongolian beef. It was really delicious and I’m from Los Angeles and it was one of the best honey walnut shrimp I ever had!!! I even ordered some extra Togo to take back to my bf’s parents home. The service was quick and friendly and the food was delicious. Will be coming back!

Flustered and ill prepared servers. Gf and I have horrible stomach aches the following morning. Will continue the«A Christmas Story» dinner tradition, but not at this place. Buyer Beware.

The food is really good here! We ordered tons of food for a group and everyone loved it. It was such a hit that everyone’s requesting it for the next time we meet. Try the honey-walnut shrimp and chow mein.

This was one of the restaurants I ate at when I went to Spokane over the summer to visit a friend. The food was really good, which is surprising because Spokane doesn’t have many Chinese places(at least that I am aware of). The service was friendly and fast. I would definitely come back here to eat GOODCHINESEFOOD!

Food was great! Lots of food for how much you pay. Plus the chef and waitress was very friendly. She kept checking in to see if we needed anything. I personally recommend the broccoli beef or the potstickers is very recommended. Pros: Cheap for amount of food, good food, friendly service, and quick Cons: Not the most aesthetically pleasing atmosphere

I am not a big fan of Americanized Chinese food but I do love the special fried rice at China Garden. It is different than regular fried rice as it is made with a garlic sauce instead of soy sauce. Very, very good! Also,

Okay, so I’ve given this place several chances. I moved to the South Hill two years ago and I keep hoping to find a decent, traditional(a.k.a. not Gordy’s), reasonably inexpensive Chinese place. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just not going to happen… On several occasions we have ordered the potstickers as an appetizer. We like them steamed rather than fried, a fairly typical option at most Chinese places… At China Garden, the waitress gladly takes your order for steamed potstickers and fails to tell you that you will be charged an extra dollar for wanting them steamed(WTF?) How is steaming something more labor intensive or expensive than pan-frying? Then what we receive are lukewarm(some downright cold), limp dumplings on a plate with some cold sauce. Ewwww. Moving on… let’s forget the fact that the«sesame chicken» comes covered in some sort of sauce that is reminiscent of ketchup — or that the«sweet and sour» pork appears to be covered in brown jelly. The main thing I find appalling about this place is that they charge you for white rice… and hot tea! Again, WTF? So you go here for dinner, you order 2 – 3 pricey dishes and some(cold) potstickers, and you can’t get white rice for free? In fact, at our last visit we asked for a small cup of white rice for our 2 yr old(assuming it would be free), and were brought a big bowl of white rice and were charged $ 3.99 for it!(and god forbid you should want fried rice, because they charge $ 10 for that — and believe me, it’s nothing special!) I wonder how places like this stay in business. Like I mentioned we’ve been there several times, and keep hoping it will get better, but after this last time, when a weekday lunch ended up costing upwards of $ 36 for two adults and a 2 yr old — I think we’re done. If I’m going to spend $ 36 dollars, I may as well save up to spend $ 50 at Gordy’s or P.F. Chang’s. At least I know the food will be good and I’ll get my money’s worth.

First try at Chinese in the Spokane area, ordered potstickers, sweet and sour chicken, and their special pork fried rice. The potstickers were good but a little greasier than I’m used to. The chicken was bland and over fried. The rice however was pretty good. There was a ton of food but at a hefty price, 33 bucks.

Let’s admit it — Spokane has some of the worst Chinese restaurants in the nation. Some of the stuff they serve posing as food is atrocious and simply inedible. With that being said and after living here for 4 years my family simply refuses to eat at ANY Chinese restaurant(except Gordy’s) in Spokane. So I am left to try these restaurants either alone or with other friends. With that being said I ventured into China Garden with some interoperation. I was seated promptly but then waited and waited and waited for the server to come and take my order. First a couple of comments, no tea was served or even offered and the idea of charging someone 50 cents for a bowl of rice to accompany $ 12 — $ 16 per person entrees seems petty to me. I tried the General Tso’s Chicken, and while the menu said it was spicy it lacked very little spice to it. The sauce was a little too sugary/gooey for my taste and lacked the garlic and ginger component that you find in most Tso’s Chicken, was the dish bad — no, it was edible and actually did taste pretty good. I then ordered several items to go, the tofu item was also very good, but the Schezuan chicken received a general thumbs down rating from all who tried it. The use of canned mushrooms and corn along with the unappetizing sauce caused this one to go into the trash. Prices for the meat entrees were reasonable, but I would agree they seem pretty steep for noodle, rice, vegetable and vegetarian dishes. So overall this is a guarded three star recommendation, 2 dishes that were edible 1 that was not, service that was not good, but in all honesty I think I was the last customer of a unusually high volume weekday evening. No tea offered and the idea of paying for rice is a turn off.
