My first time here, and my last time here. We arrived at 6:40, sat at out table around 6:50. Was not given menus, had to ask. 15 mins later, asked what we want to drink. Took another 15 mins to get. Another 15 mins till they took our order. Waiter kept passed us by. While taking our order, the waiter had to do another task then came back and finished our order. Asked to speak to the manager. 2 people had to tell him we wanted to speak to him, and he even passed us up. When he finally came, we asked if he could compensate our drinks and he said he couldn’t. So disappointed with the customer service. Granted it was busy, but WOW, I’ve been to restaurants which were much busier then they were and had impeccable service.

Best Mexican food I have had in Spokane. Tecate Burrito with Steak was amazing. My wife and I have found our home for Mexican food for the next 6 months.

Loved it! I had a mango citrus chicken salad(I think that’s what it’s called) and it was bomb. So good. HUGE portions — I took half home for lunch the next day. Very reasonable prices. Chips and salsa were pretty good. I’d love to see a better kid’s menu — nothing very healthy on there. But overall — pretty happy! Great atmosphere too — very tropical mexican. Our waiter was fantastic — pretty much RAN to get us everything we need. We’ll be back!

3 of us ate here tonight and what a disapointment. Chips smelled of rancid old oil, sent back and waitress was bitter. Chile was fried in the same rancid oil and batter around it was soaked in this oil and soggy. Carne was ok but no taste .$ 73 for a very Crappy 3 meals.

Just passing by this town and decided to try the food here. Arroz con pollo was delicious. I also had a strawberry lemonade and it was very good. This would be my first option next time I pass by this town.

Wow. I’ve always heard great things about Tecate but it’s the first time we’ve been there. Absolutely fantastic. We had a party of about 12. The food was amazing authentic Mexican food. I believe everyone had something different and we all loved the food(Nachos, Quesadillas, Burritos, Enchiladas, Tamales, Fish Tacos, Salads… everyone was excellent). The service was so great as well. Very attentive, polite, prompt and even though we had a big group he had our entire order done perfectly as well. Tecate is our new favorite!

Four out of five stars for our first time here! The wait staff was so friendly and checked on us perfectly, it was like having dinner at a friend’s house with a delicious food and drink menu! We loved the casual atmosphere, and authentic Mexican food was perfect. The White Mexican tasted delicious and the wait staff got some jokes rolling with it haha! Good times, will absolutely be going back!

Go here on taco Tuesday’s love this place. Nice staff and great food! The only thing is when a band is playing it’s really loud and can’t hear the people you are with. The only bad thing about it. but not really bad. Don’t stop me from coming back for the food that’s for sure!

Being from Los Angeles, I miss the days when you could stop at any cart on Taco Tuesday and be 100% pleased. We were excited for the deal we read about Tecate’s taco special, but we were immensely let down. First, this special required a purchase of a drink, so realistically it’s not that much cheaper(do your research, Inlander) We were served watery ground beef tacos wrapped in a cold tortilla, but I guess quality is sacrificed when it is «unlimited.» While the rice and beans were acceptable, and the service was friendly and fast, it could not make up for the sub-par food.

I’ve lived on the border and can say this place is right up there with the best. The service is fast and friendly and the food just hits the spot. My favorite is the Molcajete, a thick mushroom and meat stew that you spoon onto tortillas. This place also creates the platters that show up in my workplace. People who want to treat get two platters, loaded with finger food(i.e. taquitos, burritos, etc.), pay somewhere in the neighborhood of a hundred bucks and feed 12 – 15 people easily and with left overs. Some reviews say«this isn’t authentic» and it is true much of it is Americanized, probably even with American cheese, but I’ve also tasted dishes that were bold, ethnic/exotic that don’t even give a nod to the American palette, so it’s all here. I had to go here a few times to find out my favorite menu items, and anyone who gives this place the chance it deserves should probably plan on doing the same.

One of the better and«modern» Mexican places in town, probably my favorite. Service is always really good, and fast. I usually get fish tacos, which have been very consistent each time. Drinks are good but margaritas seemed a little weak on the booze. Fun place, clean, I’d recommend to anyone looking for an all around good Mexican place.

I love this place. I live just down the street from this restaurant and every time I visit I have a great experience. The food is very fresh and well prepared. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like. Great drink specials, and the sangria rocks. Although I love the food so much, my number one reason I return is the service. Always very personable wait staff, funny, and genuinely happy to be at work.

Once again we thought we would attempt to make it to Taco Tumbras because my sister wanted their fish taco, but once again, they weren’t open when they were supposed to be. So Taco Tumbras’ loss is Tecate Grills gain! I had the 3 chicken tacos which came with like a light bean soup on the side. Big difference from refried beans. The tacos are like Taco Tumbras in that they are more Mexican style than American. The corn tortilla type. Very good. I couldn’t eat all the food given. Salsa was not bad. Had a bit of eat. My sister tried their fish taco and said it was good. Service was good too. I can see myself coming back here.

This is the family favorite. I’ve been here for a total of 4 birthday celebrations and 5 welcome back dinners for people I call family. Anyway — here are some info. The hours are: Sun 11:00 am — 9:00 pm Mon — Thu 11:00 am — 10:00 pm Fri — Sat 11:00 am — 11:00 pm Dishes worth a try: — Tacate Fire Grill: Oh I love the sizzling sound the dish makes when it finds its way to your table. D.E.A.Licious! It is filled with steak, shrimp and the ever so loveable — bacon wrapped shrimp. Yes… I said it! –Tacate Burrito: It is HUGE — Large soft flour tortilla stuffed w/southwest rice, rancho beans, grilled onions & green peppers. Choice of grilled steak, chicken, or shrimp. Topped w/ranchero sauce & garnished w/pico de gallo, cotija cheese, sour cream, & guacamole. Steak or chicken shrimp –Fish Tacos: The waitress said this were small taco’s but :“small” is subjective. Flour & corn tortillas filled w/cheese & served w/you choice of sauteed fresh cod or crisp battered white fish. Then finished w/pepita vegetable slaw & cotija cheese, served w/southwest rice & black beans. 1 Taco 2 tacos — So GOOD! –Other good choices: Pork Carnitas and Shrimp Tacos. Atmosphere is casual and fun filled. I love the island style décor and lighting. They also have bar seating and TV’s to enjoy between meals. A game is usually on. Desert: There is only one kind of desert we get here and that is the«Deep Fried Ice-Cream» — Oh, the taste and texture is just like stars sparking with passion in the safety of your mouth. Okay — that was an exaggeration but really, it’s pretty good. So, I hope you enjoy yourself on a night out at Tacate’s.

Good Mexican food! Beans and rice are very good and they make great enchilada sauce. Staff is great and super friendly. The only suggestion I can give is for them to start making REAL tacos by frying them themselves. I know it may be popular to fry them stuff like prefab shells in this area, but would be perfect if they make them the old fashioned way.

Are you looking for a great neighborhood Mexican restaurant? Head over to Spokane’s Shadle district to Tecate. They are consistent and have a standard Mexican menu serving typical American — Mexican dishes. The service is always prompt and curious. I have always enjoyed my dinner. I wish they would increase the menu to include several authentic or original Mexican dishes. All in all, it is really nice, consistent, and convenient.
