Had family in town so went for lunch on a sunny day. We’re able to sit on patio. I had grilled salmon spinach salad. Salmon cooked perfect. Friend had the club sandwich. .looked amazing. .huge!

We had our first 2016 dinner at Coastal Kitchen with a couple of friends. Pan seared crab cake was pretty good. The chicken firecrackers were okay. My petite filet was amazing but the chive mashed potatoes were a little dry. Pork tenderloin was tender, flavorful and a huge portion size. We ended the night wth the crème brûlée. Overall happy with our experience and would come back again for a nice dinner.

Great food and great service. I had the burger followed by the cheesecake. Both were great and the price was right. Can’t beat the view either.

As we headed towards the islands, this was one of the first establishments we encountered after exiting the causeway. We sat outside under heat lamps on a warm January evening with a view of the docks. We had the popcorn oysters($ 11), a goat cheese arugula salad($ 8), stuffed haddock & blue crab entrée with grits($ 24), & lobster nachos($ 13). The food was prepared just right — no overcooked or dry seafood here! My companion said the popcorn oysters were amazing. As a nacho connoisseur, i wasn’t disappointed. Homemade chips, whipped guacamole, shredded lobster. Our server was attentive, keeping the hot water full for my tea & checking up on us every now & then even though we were at the end of the deck. Lovely ambiance & good food.

The food was good but not great. I had heard great things about the food at coastal kitchen and after leaving with a bill over 100 bucks I was just disappointed. I had the seafood paella and while it was a good portion it was just bland, the spices you would expect with paella were just not there. My husband had the crab and lobster ravioli and was not happy with the portion size or the taste. I did enjoy the bottomless wine glass, the chicken firecracker appetizer and the service was good. Our daughter enjoyed her fried shrimp and everyone was friendly and the ambience was nice. I was just disappointed in the food. I wouldn’t go back for dinner nor recommended the above two dishes; however I’d go back with friends for a bottomless wine and app night.

This review summarizes our experience over several visits. Generally, this establishment is «OK.» Certainly nothing special, but«OK.» Food: Some items are quite excellent; others should be avoided. Example: While their shrimp & grits are creative and qutie excellent, the lobster nachos are totally meaningless. The latter are deep-fried chips covered by some sort of nasty white«cheese whiz» crap sauce and the«lobster» [if that is really what it is] is tasteless and rather disgusting. Beverage: Pale ales are about 60% of the craft beer market. Coastal Kitchen had one excellent one(Ranger) in a bottle bot nothing else drinkable.(Tried the one the bar tender said was«local» — Georgia — found it was really was brewed in Jacksonville. I guess he did not know what he was talking about.) Service: Runs hot and cold. Example: During a recent visit we sat in the bar and the bartender was b-u-s-y. He did the best he could — while several waitresses were hangin’ out waiting for something to do. The older waitress(I guess that’s’ what she is; maybe a manager of some type?) with a negative personality also did little to help the situation. So, I’d rate this place«OK in a pinch.» If I could assign a fractional rating it would be 2.5 rather than 2.0.

Where do I begin… If you want raw oysters… go to the Half Shell. If you want ravioli… go to Matteo ’ s If you want shrimp… just don’t come here. It comes down to basics. I ordered George’s Bank Scallops and Local Shrimp based on the server’s recommendation. I shouldn’t have to clean my shrimp when it comes to me. These little guys were not deveined. it was black-vein-a-palooza all up in here… and if I’m paying $ 24, you better believe I should be able to eat all my food. And there were only 3 ok size scallops. The server was apologetic and brought it back to the kitchen to remake the dish. However, the second time around was a little better than the first, but alas, there were still some intestinal tracts there. I’m not picky and I NEVER send food back… but come on Coastal Kitchen! They couldn’t tell me where their raw oysters were from. It was fine and all, but they were on a tiny plate causing all the oyster liquor to spill out. They also were not shucked properly, or cleaned. Aye! BTW, the ahi tuna tostada… while tasty, the puny four chips are not worth the $ 13. Sadly, I will not be returning. This was a $ 100+ lesson learned.

The ambiance was very nice and the food was great. I had the Red Blacken fish and it was great and filling. I would recommend it

After a half day of inshore catching, they served up a variety of our fish. They marinated and grilled our Bonnet Head to perfection. We also had Spotted Sea Trout fried and blackened, Sheephead and Reds were also fried to a mouth watering deliciousness. For a very fair, per person price, they also served us fries and cole slaw. The only thing I can say negative is that for a short time, two of us waited about ten minutes for a drink order. This would not have been a problem if they’d been busy but they were not at all at the time. When our sever finally brought the drinks,(one bottle of Bud Light and one Crown and Coke), he blamed the bar tender, saying he didn’t know where she had been. I personally think he had forgotten, which would’ve been a more acceptable answer for me. Still very worthy of 5 stars.

High class gourmet food, great view & quiet, unlike many of the restaurants on the island. Save room for dessert!

The view is very nice, the food is tasty, and the drinks are made well. Coastal Kitchen is wroth visiting. I tried several things at Coastal Kitchen, and they were all good. Wine: I had the Kaiden Cabernet 2012 wine. I’m usually terrible at distinguishing between wines, but I could tell this one was great. It was very smooth yet also dry. I hope I can find it somewhere else. Dirty Oysters: Caviar, sour cream, raw oysters, and hot sauce. What a great idea. It tastes as good as you imagine. Get it. Beer: I had a glass of the Belgian wit. I forgot who made it, but it was delicious. Mixed Drink: I sampled their mule. I couldn’t tell how strong it was, but I liked it. They used a real copper mug.

Good food, fresh seafood. First visit there today. Had the fish and chips and my spouse had the shrimp quesadilla. We both found the food to be quite delicious and exactly what we were looking for. Got to sit on the patio with an amazing view of the boats and docks there at the marina. Service was above average. It hit the spot for what we were looking for for lunch.

Cool place sort of hidden within a marina. We arrived and were seated in the bar area immediately. Next time we will make a reservation for outdoor or window seating. The view of the boats and the pier is cool. We had firecracker chicken rolls and dirty oysters for starters. The oysters were raw and topped with caviar and shallots. .very tasty. Didi’s entrée was a delicious shrimp and grits with a red gravy. I had the Georgia scallops and local shrimp entrée. …excellent. the cocktail menu includes a few customized drinks. We sampled a few of them. The service was great as well. We will return.

We go to Coastal Kitchen several times a year. We ate there again last night and it was a little dissapointing. The temperature in the restaurant was very warm. I asked our server if they could turn the air conditioning down and he said that it gets hot because of the windows. Several tables around us were visibly hot as they were also wiping sweat from their faces. Our meals were served quickly, to quickly. I am pretty sure that they were not making to food to order. We will be back because it is one of the better places to eat in Glynn County nut I would recommend Coastal Shanty over Coastal Kitchen if you are wanting good, fresh, made to order meals at a reasonable price.

My favorite place to eat on SSI. Always great service and portions are just the right size. Fish selections are on fleek and cooked and seasoned well. Views of the boat docks and river towards the island are also a major plus.

This was our first visit to this restaurant, and we will definitely be returning. We came in during a rain storm, without dinner reservations, and were seated quickly. The waitress was very nice and helpful with the menu recommendations. Our orders came out quickly, and everything was delicious. We tried the lobster nachos… awesome! My husband and son ordered raw bar items Shrimp and Oysters, my youngest daughter had a bowl of chowder, and my oldest daughter had the Ratatouille in a bell pepper, which was a work of art!!! We noticed on the online menu that they served«Rabbit Food»(vegetarian), and that is what helped us make our choice;) I had the Georgia Banks scallops and shrimp, which was also beautiful and extremely yummy! We ended the meal with a nice conversation with the owner, who was a very friendly character that seems to really enjoy getting to know his customers. Can’t wait to come back next trip!

Great place for a cold drink and lobster nachos! We had a late lunch so didn’t partake in much of the menu, but what we saw/sampled was very enjoyable and a great way to kick-off our Jekyll Island vacation. Top 3: 1) lobster nachos 2) cool bevie 3) patio with marsh view A great stop in St Simon’s!

We had lunch here. Beautiful setting, right at the marina. Food was great, all of us happy with our selections. Interesting specialty drinks. Most of the staff was friendly. Our waitress was a little snooty. Didn’t come around too often, but all in all a good experience.

Sunday Brunch with the boyfriend’s parents. I ordered chicken and waffles while the boyfriend ordered lobster nachos and then proceeded to swap each other at the half way points(because restaurant food variety is the spice of life). Chicken and waffles weren’t anything special — though the chicken was lightly breaded and the waffle was nicely crisped. Though maybe chicken and waffles is weird enough to just be served plain. The nachos were decent, also nothing really spectacular but the chips that they used were kind of different — they were thicker and thus sturdier because who wants their chip to break when scooping up deliciously fattening sour cream and salsa? The boyfriend’s parents seemed to enjoy their dishes. The view was also really nice of the marina however I’m not sure it is the best food ever as some of these reviews seem to imply!

Came here for a «snack» after mid-afternoon flight. We had reservations for dinner in a few hours and needed some food to hold us over. The waitress was very nice and didn’t seem phased by the fact we were splitting an appetizer & one entrée between four people. The lobster nachos and scallops and shrimp was AMAZING. The nachos was very different, but was so good. If you’re dining here, you cannot leave without ordering those dishes! Great view by the water, excellent food and service. Definitely recommended!
