Woodrow Diner

Although this diner is down the block from us, we usually go to the one at Page road when we have a craving for diner food.
This time we decided to give it a try, and it is better than we thought! We had the reuben sandwich and lamb gyro, and we would give 4 stars for both! The fries that comes with the gyro is really fresh! The reuben sandwich is so delicious, meat is juicy and definitely order with Russian dressing!

I’ve always come here to eat. Used to be where me and friends go all the time. Recently I’ve experienced long waits after being seated. I waited over 15 minutes to be asked what I’d like to drink. Me and my boyfriend finally got our food and the waiter didn’t come back once to ask us how we were doing, was everything all right… Nothing! Not even to come back to give us the check! We had to ask a waitress to get it for us. The staff is always too busy talking and gossiping, when they SHOULD be paying attention to their tables.

So I’ve lived in this area for a decent amount of time, i go to Woodrow more often then I should but that’s not the point. It was always great service everyone was so nice, it was just all around a pleasant time. Well lately things have got worse, the staff always has attitudes, they don’t check on the table I sat there for an extra 20 minutes to get my bill, when finally I just got up and went to the counter myself it’s terrible. Makes me want to never go there again and or tell other people not to either.

Absolutely horrible!!! Nasty, slow service. Came to pick up soup and a milkshake for my sick Mom on Mother’s Day waited over a half hour for them to scoop the soup into take out containers and to wait for a chocolate milkshake that was basically all milk. Disgusting arrogant people, don’t ever go here!

This place is a GEM! I wish we had places like this in VA, but we don’t. The service is great, the staff is very friendly and the food is amazing. What more could someone ask for! The fries chicken wings might be the most amazing wings I have ever had. The Belgian waffle with bacon and home fries is an absolute home run! I just wish they had onions in the home fries, but none the less still amazing!

Been going to the Woodrow diner for years and always was pleased but not today. I will never go back. My husbands steak ($ 28) was all fat and tough. I ordered filet of sole over sautéed spinach and the fish was overcooked and the spinach was frozen (I always ordered this and the spinach was fresh before and the fish was flounder… I also think I got tilapia and not sole. And finally, the coffee was like mud. I ordered decaf and my husband regular. Even with 4 half and half’s, it was mud. All this for a diner with above average prices. Don’t waste your money on this place. Somehow, somewhere it’s gone down hill big time. As a previous review said, this place used to be so much better and now it’s horrible.

Years ago you had to wait for at least an hour to get in. Now there is ample seating and there is a reason why. Poor quality. P. S. worst coffee ever. orange juice is really Tang. Gave 2 stars because Francsca, our waitress was lovely.

The place is not bad overall. The only problem is that they always say they do delivery, but if u try to place an order they r never available for that. The food is ok, waitresses r nice to!

My parents and I come here pretty regularly for breakfast. Their pancakes and waffles (w/​whipped cream & strawberries) are pretty good.
Like all the other reviewers noted, the service is lacking. I thought it was just us but it seems like it’s a common problem for everyone else.

My favorite diner on SI, by far the best dinners. The vodka sauce is out of this world!!! And the French fries are like crack… don’t even get me started on tzatziki.

The food is amazing and it is very decently priced. However the waitress staff and hostess staff are TERRIBLE. I never want to come here because I am blatantly ignored here each time we go. It can be dead and I somehow still consistently get denied service. The waitresses are always gossiping with each other extremely loudly and the hostesses give every customer a dirty look. I have vowed that due to service I will not dine in here again. I could only hope the owner will see this and fire all those nasty and unprofessional girls! You’re business will flourish when you have staff that you want to represent your business.

This place used to be so much better … Maybe even worth 4 stars back then … Now it’s just horrible …
Example #1: Above average price ($ 12.95) for a shrimp cocktail and they only give you 3 BELOW AVERAGE SIZED SHRIMP! … When questioned, even the waitress was embarrassed … She said that they’ve gotten numerous complaints from customers over this but that’s what management wants.
Example #2: Hamburger ordered ‘medium rare’ but given a piece of charcoal rumored to be a burger. DISGUSTING!
Example #3: French fries that were greasy and tasted of freezer burn … I don’t think they were using actual potatoes … They were to real fries what Pringles are to potato chips.
Do yourselves a favor and skip this place … as I said above, it ain’t what it used to be!

This place is just okay. Came here for pancakes and found them sub-​par. They didn’t taste buttermilk-​y at all, really. I prefer IHOP when it comes to pancakes, so I was expecting a little more in terms of fluffiness and flavor. The «butter» tasted more like I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter, which I don’t really like. The bacon was good, but just a bit too salty. I would describe this place as «painfully average.»

I’ve eaten here probably a million times since it’s very close to my home. I have no complaints about the food; everything I’ve ever ordered has been great. I recommend the cream of turkey soup when they have it. The wait staff is generally great; usually quick and friendly. I have had the experience a few times of sitting for 15 minutes before seeing my waiter/​waitress. One complaint I have is the hostess staff. There is always a large group of miserable looking people at the front and they seem angry that they have to acknowledge your existence and seat you. Once you get past the hostess, the food is great.

Food is good but the staff is horrible. From the hostess not even greeting you to them not saying goodbye… to your waitress being horrible who would want to go back? Rude rude rude people there. If you don’t like your job leave!

Very pleasant people to get you when you walk in… Oh wait, that’s not true. The group at the register looked like they were hoping I’d leave. Sorry I had to make you do your job. I asked for a very specific order and apparently everyone’s deaf also. Take out order with no utensils or napkins. Cheeseburger and 2 kids hot dogs…$ 30??? Are you out of your mind? Lived the frozen onion rings too, really added to the tastelessness of the food. Won’t be returning

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and it’s just… really average. The breakfast food is good and the fried fish platter is my favorite on the menu. Everything else I’ve eaten like the burgers and wraps are just ok. I’d rather take a 10 minutes longer ride to get something better.

3 TIMES this place completely messed up my order. Twice when I ordered take out, and once when I came here. The cashier here is just rude, every time I’ve gone its 2 girls out of highschool, who just want to text and not be bothered.
One of the times they messed up my order, I ordered a bunch of stuff take out food for my family, and they left out a couple items (burger, and an appetizer I believe it was).
Another time I came here, I ordered wings and a burger. I didn’t want the burger delux, which comes with fries for $ 3 more, since I ordered wings, but the waitress just took it upon herself, and assumed that I wanted to pay $ 9 for a burger with fries, instead of just $ 6 for the burger to have with my order of wings. That extra $ 3 was her tip.
Decent food, slightly more expensive than other diners, poor service.

This place is a last resort as it is close to my house. Every time I have ordered from them, I’ve had an issue. Some of them are small issues but when they keep happening over and over it gets annoying and I start to question the competency of the staff.
The delivery takes forever… an hour and a half sometimes for one meal and I live a few blocks away. They include the tip and don’t tell you, so you end up double tipping. They never include napkins or silverware. My order was wrong almost every time even after repeating it for accuracy. The wraps are usually missing one or more of the ingredients and they have given me the incorrect size for soups.
Being that I live so close, I have tried picking up my order and repeating the order several times to make sure it is correct. Once again, the sandwich or wrap is missing one or more ingredients. They are rather expensive for a diner as well. The food quality just isn’t that good for them to charge say 20 bucks for one sandwich and a side salad or soup.
I have tried this place at least 15 times and I can honestly say that maybe 2 times were okay and those were the times that I dined in. The French toast and other breakfast items were good. Other than that, they really need to train their employees to take more accurate orders and train their kitchen staff to prepare orders correctly. The staff is always eating or sitting at the front booth gossiping. Not very professional.
