We been coming here since 2010 it was good service, but lately service been going down since one of the owners died. Today my food was cold, after waiting for an hour they remade it and still cold, it taste like bland NOFLAVOR . I hope they bounce back.

SOGOOD. Old fashioned, American Diner!!! LOVETHISPLACE!, GOODOLDFASHIONEDMILKSHAKESYOUCANNOTFINDANYWHEREELSEANYMORE(HAVEWORKEDBASKINROBBINSWHICHCLAIMSTOBEOLDFASHIONED. BUTISSADLYNOLONGER A SODAJERKKINDAPLACEASTHEYADVERTISE, BUT A OVERHYPEDRIPOFFTHATCAN’T COMPARETOTHEREALDEAL, UJ’S), FRIESTODIEFOR, SANDWICHESANDBURGERSPILEDHIGHWITHSAVORYGOODNESSUJ’S is so homey and reminiscent of a time in America, when American food was made and served with quality in mind. ALSO tracing Stocktons roots, they have a lasagna better than Da Vinci ’ and/or compared to anyplace else in the bay area no contest, just as Genova bakery’s bread is the best Italian country bread west of Italy hands down. This it a piece of history that still lives and breathes. If you want to snuggle up to ur honey in a booth like in the classic film, American Graffiti(shot in and around this area) or Grease, you want this place! Think Pulp Fiction when he said … «That’s a pretty fuckin good milkshake.» Yea. its that good, when you order it up inside UJ’s. Couples, get out of the car/drivethru, its not sexy or cute. My god, give me a job waitressing for the weekends… Love this cozy diner!

I came in by myself one morning for some alone time. The hostess sat me down at a booth that was missing half the seats even though there was a booth right next to it that was perfectly fine… LOL She took my drink order & brought it out right away. Then the waitress took over. She wasn’t very inviting. She was actually kind of scary. But the table seated next to me received excellent service from the same waitress… I guess it’s because I look 12?(I’m actually 19) & I’m not an elderly couple? Idk. She did give me a cheaper deal tho since I didn’t see that the French toast was also offered on some type of discount page inserted in the menu. But here I am… 30 mins after my food came… Waiting for someone to walk by or notice my stares… Because I need a box… :/LOL

Can you please shut this place down already. I remember coming here as a kid and the food being great along with the service. The last time I was here it was the worst experience that I had ever had 1. The hostess acted like she was too busy to seat us. 2. The table was sticky and still dirty. There was food on the floor under the table. 3. The menus were so nasty I didn’t want to touch it. 4. The food is bland, greasy and not worth the money. I will never come back here again.

Very«meh!» Stopped here one day for lunch. Thought the food was OK. Nothing really special. Service was okay also. Nothing too special about the restaurant. Would come back if I had too, but probably wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

Came with my parent to eat on 9÷11÷2015. This was my 3rd time there and the 2nd time with them. I won’t be coming back after this last experience. The hostess said nothing to us when we came in and just held up her 3 fingers(obviously meaning party of 3). She didn’t even smile and lacked much personality. Our waitress, finally came over to take our order, I kidded with her and she had NO sense of humor as well as no manners like please and thank you when we placed or orders or when we left. My mom only wanted cold cereal so she ordered Raisan Bran and it was stale. I have issues when their is lack of customer service and you can’t even get a smile from the hostess or your server. You guys really have issues. Also, there was a fly that kept flying around bothering us as well and the place is dated and not super clean. You have lost a customer for life.

Went earlier today for the first time and orders the Ruben grilled sandwich, it took quite awhile for my food to come to the table, even for my appetizer. Upon arrival the rye bread on my sandwich was toasted pretty dark, over toasted rye bread is rough on the lower gums and my corn beef was Brett dried out, certainly wasn’t impressed. My grandparents ordered liver and it was pretty dry also, they had vegetable soup and sourdough bread and that had to be the best part of the food.

I’m not hard to please so I feel bad for this but get it together, UJ’s. Staff was rude and slow. Food was cold and overpriced. Just an overall bad/judgmental vibe. Stop the hate, learn to love. Give me warmer French toast & eggs. Never again, UJ’s. You let me and my squad down once & never again. We only came because Chuck’s on Pacific is closed on Sundays. Next week I’ll remember to just eat breakfast at home.

At 7pm tonight, I took my four children to Uj’s for dessert. When we arrived we decided to sit at the counter where there were crumbs and a couple pieces of trash. I thought to myself maybe the waitress is slammed and she’ll most likely do it as soon as she gets here. Nope, she did it after getting us water and after I asked. I was polite the whole time even though we were also missing utensils and straws. Then we order. I tell my kids no peanuts on their banana splits because my youngest is allergic. So my teen proceeded to ask what the toppings were. The waitress answered and even specified crushed PECANS. I know because my daughter repeated it to me and I said okay as long as it isn’t peanut. Then I agreed to getting three splits as the waitress said, «Are you sure? They are pretty big, I mean whatever, it’s your choice…» Yeah, we were sure. My youngest got hers last, which was a good thing. My teen girl said, «Mom, wait, there ARE peanuts on here!» So, I asked the waitress to hold on and asked if there were peanuts. She said«Why is someone allergic? Hold on let me ask.» She came back with a yes. I said, «Okay, I’ll just keep this and order another.» She tried to take it away. I said I’ll keep it and pay for another because it’ll just go to waste and I’ll have to pay for another anyway.“ She just said, «Okaaay…» and left to make another. I felt bad. By the way, the first one, I had her put a part of it in a separate bowl since she offered(because it was too big). She brought the new one and I thought all was good but then I saw one of the other workers bring my other daughter a spoon because she never completed our place settings. I thought, «that was nice of him.» Then we continued to eat our desserts as I started to do some work. I did a few calculations for work, we finished up, and I had my son take my card to the register, only five steps away from me. The woman had him sign for me. Odd. I said«don’t I have to sign?» She told me no and that she had him do it. Meanwhile she and two or more waitresses were awkwardly watching my every move as I gathered our things; it felt strange but before we left, I set $ 5 on the counter for our waitress. I was boggled but when we were away from the restaurant my teen daughter said she overheard the waitress complain about us. What she supposedly said was, «I was helping a family over there and they ordered banana splits with nuts after I said there were mixed nuts and her baby is allergic and I finished making them all before she said something and then I had to go back and make another one. Then she didn’t even want to pay for it.» I could not believe my ears when she told me that! I have never written a Unilocal review until tonight. Basically, the 30-something waitress with brown straight hair had a bad attitude, was poor at her job tonight, mislead us to think there were only pecans, then complained because she had to make another and told the other ladies I said I didn’t want to pay. I’m appalled by her behavior and so hurt because I treated her with respect even though she had a rude demeanor to me and my children; I even left a 15% tip. I’m so disappointed. This all happened on May 13th after 7pm.

I purposefully made a help account to share my horrid experience with UJ’s. My mom and I went for lunch and it was my first time so I was excited. The waitresses were RUDE and had no manners or respect. First we were seated at a booth so we asked permission to move and the waitress replied with«well no ones sitting there» in a sarcastic tone. Second I overheard one of the waitresses ask«what do you want to drink» so blandly and rudely to a couple next to us. The third made me NEVER want to tip again. I was waiting for my mom to wash her hands and this waitress raised her voice and asked if I was coming or going and I was shocked! I didn’t do any thing wrong. Corn beef hash was good but if you want respect don’t come here.

Comfort food at a slow pace. There are lots of menu choices and most items are worth the wait. Three complaints: the bathroom is far away and smelly, they don’t melt the cheese, and it is freezing. They are very friendly though so I keep going back.

I really love UJs. It’s my go to place. Their omelets are amazing. All the food is good, and the quantity is so much you have to get a box. I have a favorite waitress, Sonia, that is awesome. All of the staff has been there forever, so obviously management is pleasant to work for. I’m really sad that the man who owned it passed away suddenly and I feel for his wife of many years and kids. Even though this happened, the staff is picking up the slack and you would never know he wasn’t there, except that his smiling face is missing from the place. There are a lot of elderly folks who go their for their meals regularly. On Thursdays they have an awesome pea soup! They have a very large room with a separate entrance where they cater large parties. They also have a smaller room in the main restaurant where they can accommodate smaller parties. It’s unusual for a restaurant to survive for almost 4 decades. This one will probably survive for at least that much longer. Great place!

This is a family owned coffee shop which offers mountains of food for a quite reasonable price. They feature homemade soup which is served piping hot with some very good French bread. I recently had the clam chowder. This soup was very thick and filling. My biggest issues are uneven service and sometimes bland food… but it’s much better than most chain coffee shops(think Denny’s). The prices are very reasonable. Specials are offered daily. It’s worth a try if you haven’t been there.

Wanted to treat my wife to a pre-mother’s day breakfast along with our 3 year old and had a horrible experience. We’ve always passed by UJ’s but never actually ate there so this was our first time. We came in at about 9:30am. the restaurant was about 60% full. We entered the restaurant and was never greeted. It took the(what you call a hostess) 3 minutes to stop gossiping with a waitress and pay mind to our presence to seat us. No smile and just grabbed dirty and sticky menus and sat us down. Didn’t even ask us if we need a high chair or booster seat even though it was in plain view. After looking over the menu, we still were not greeted by our waitress. I had to flag someone down after 10 minutes to have our order taken. It was a Mexican female(don’t know her name since she never introduced herself) and asked us «you ready!?» Really? I asked a simple question regarding the difference in bite and ingredients in the linguica vs the German sausage and she stopped me there immediately, put her hand on her throat and said excuse me and walked away. I’m looking at my wife and we almost walked out of the door. The waitress comes back in 5 minutes and says sorry and proceeds to tell me a generic response to my question…“spices, bit of flavor, etc.” not what I was looking for. After our order was taken it did take 20 minutes to get our food. Upon waiting, i noticed dirty booth, juice marks on wall of booty, dusty and dirty lamp and shade. Food was disgusting and looked disgusting. Steak did not taste fresh and wasn’t seasoned properly with salt and pepper. Bland. Didn’t leave a tip. We will not be coming back and will advise all our friends and family about terrible service and terrible food. Experience has been one of our worst dining experiences in Stockton to date.

I lived in Stockton from 2000 – 2005 and never went here until this year when we were in for a visit with family. LOCATION/PARKING: I think of parking as a privilege, since I live in LA now. Up Pacific Avenue, this restaurant is located in a shopping center by Hammer with a parking lot. I was excited about this, hah. AMBIANCE: It seemed busy for a Saturday morning and when we left, there were a lot of people waiting. We had a large group of ~20 people and were sat in a room with other large parties in the back.(Smallest table being ~6 people.) I did notice there was also a banquet room on the other side of the restaurant(by the bathroom) that was very nicely decorated. Felt like a Denny’s inside pretty much. FOOD: They had quite a large menu for breakfast choices that I quickly chose the Linguica & eggs because we were too busy catching up with others. I enjoyed the pretty standard breakfast meal and so did everyone else(husband and other family members). No one had complaints, but nothing was spectacular either. SERVICE: Pretty standard, especially given she was serving a large group who wanted checks broken up. Nothing too over the top wonderful for service, but then again I did not expect that at 9 am on a Saturday morning. Bottom Line — It’s like Denny’s. Though really good for large groups.
