I went here to try something new, considering I’d just finished all of my final exams and was anticipating graduation. I decided that since I’d never been here before, I would try Green Cactus for some Tex Mex. I’ll start by saying that if I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. This place is one of the worst places I’ve ever eaten at, in my entire life. I got a «wet burrito»(burrito topped with salsa and cheese with a side of sour cream). To begin with, my burrito contained beef and I was charged an extra $ 1.00 on top of the already $ 8.35 price for the burrito due to «volatility in the beef market.» The rice was overcooked such that it turned to mush in my mouth, and felt like it was sitting there for days. The beans were undercooked and overcooked intermittently, as if no one had ever turned them. The quality of beef was extremely low, or maybe that was primarily due to the fact that the steak was overcooked(and thus extremely dry) and unseasoned in the burrito. The burrito itself was covered in this nasty salsa mush that tasted like it had been sitting in a can, open, for several weeks on end. It was rank, to say the least. The cheese on top of the burrito looked like plastic immediately upon being served, which was consistent with the fact that the burrito was not even warm when it was served. On the side, there was this horrendously disgusting salad with browning lettuce, topped with one tomato, and then sour cream on top of the«salad.»(Who puts sour cream on a salad!?!) Overall, this place has nothing going for it in terms of taste. The place does, however, look kind of nice. Looks like they invested a lot on appearance, and very little on «quality,» which they so claim to be important. I will never go back here again. Oh, by the way, I paid $ 28 for two burritos(both burrito grande steak) and a drink. Ridiculous.

Often see tons of people getting food there, so I went and gave it a try. Ordered two burritos — burrito grande with shrimps and burrito fajita with chicken. The burrito grande is basically tasteless. I could only taste the rice and beans. It was very bland. The burrito fajita with chicken is not flavorful either.

The food and the portions here are really good but the prices are out of control. I’ve been coming here for such a long time and they have had this same sign hanging on the register of the price increases up to 1.50 on some items! Like I said the food is pretty good, the salsa bar is also really great but I just can’t afford to spend $ 15-$ 20 on lunch.

Ugh. Why is it so hard to find decent Tex mex on Long Island? It’s really disappointing. Went here after work for a quick bite. Ordered two chicken tacos, chips and guac. Chicken tacos were so bland, I had to drench them in all sorts of salsa to get through the meal. The chicken itself was orangey and tasteless. Picture attached. Chips are good, but chips aren’t a meal. And the guac? So bland that I had to mix in a salt pocket plus squeeze some lime into it(I got the large guac for an absurd $ 5.99 for 8oz). Sorry, won’t be back.

Food is bland, has no flavor. Have tried this restaurant out a few times but its always the same. Better options down the road.

I have found the food at Green Cactus pretty good in my times visiting there. I have ordered out and eaten in. You order and pay at the counter, staff I have dealt with usually seems very unhappy. Overall I think the food is tasty and fresh and a good value for the price paid.

Good Mexican food! Ambiance isn’t the best. And the thing I don’t like about this place is it closes early. I have been hardly making there about 20 minutes before it closes.

Have been a fan of Green Cactus for years. They are very good. Authentic enough for me to keep returning.

Great fresh Mexican food. The burritos are fresh and huge. Love to stop for takeout when in a rush. Very fast service and the food is always fresh.

This place is nice and convenient. Salsa is very fresh! Food tastes good. The wait is never long. One of our to-go place when we don’t feel like eating too heavy

The menu is small with very little selection. The prices are fair, but the portions are rather small. I left feeling really nauseous; I’m thinking the sour cream was spoiled. I will definitely not return, and I wouldn’t recommend you go unless you want a stomach bug.

This place is great to stop in and sit down for some good quality Mexican food! The menu is just the right size with a really nice variety of food from Lunch to dinner and dessert. When you order the food comes out pretty quick also! This joint comes equipped with a killer salsa bar– all the works! They have the BEST pico de gallo I have ever had anywhere! 3 different salsa’s, pico, limes & lemons. They give you small to go cups and small brown bags so needless to say I fill up: D The food is really on point! Really nice size portions and all of the ingredients are so FRESH! I mean come on now… you really can’t beat fresh mexi food! I love to try everything on the menu, fish tacos, steak burritos, cheese quesadillas, tacos, churros! I just love it all! And *ding ding ding!* when you order a drink there’s free refills!(Holla!) In a rush? That’s cool too! You can call your order ahead and have it ready for pick up when you come in! The place is also really clean. The décor is nice, lime green tables and high ceilings with nice big windows. All in all I would highly recommend this restaurant! Food is great, price is good and the place is really clean!

I’m sorry, but the tacos were not up to my standard. But mind you, my standards are high, since I enjoyed great tacos for years I lived in Texas. I guess one can’t really complain too much when there are no choices. Salsa was not very fresh, and the taco didn’t taste like anything. I might try again and update, since I’m bound to crave for tacos.

I miss the Green Cactus I used to visit 10 years ago. Lately the good lacks that fresh taste and the salsa bar is just a mess. I called my order in and showed up 15 mins later. When I walked in I noticed a lot of customers standing around and two cooks stating at a bunch of tickets. I paid and proceeded to wait for 20 minutes whole they cooked everybody’s food and eventually got to my ticket. It looked like my order didn’t make it to the kitchen until I showed up and paid. Ahhh those delicious Green Cactus memories!

I’m a Texan. This place is a taste of home… End of story. Fajitas are solid as are drinks, and chips and salsa is pretty good too.

«A-OK» Not much of a selection. Food is okay but there are better alternatives if you can drive. Really not much else to say. It’s not bad and it’s not great. It’s okay…

I don’t know what to think of this place. The food is just okay, nothing special, but then again, I grew up in California, so my mexspectations are high. The people working there are miserable. I suspect some slave labor might be going on, similar to the recent 7 – 11 situation. They don’t smile and are very robotic, as if they’re being watched on camera. Strange.

Been a customer since 1996 and I can say that the quality has rarely disappointed me(with rare occasional hiccups). It’s fresh, quick, and no frills. My favorites are the Fajita Burritos and the Tostada salads. Tortilla chips are made fresh and yummy. It’s that simple, nothing more to say!

Never going back to campus Mexican food. Ever. Green Cactus is fresh, decently priced and delicious. An array of unlimited salsas and pico de gallo await you in front and depending on what time of day you go, service is relatively fast. My 2 complaints is that they need hotter hot sauce and some dishes price wise aren’t as worth it as others.

Maybe it was my ginormous hunger at the time combined with my craving for soft tacos. But I could not stop saying, «This is so good… This is so good.» again and again, like some weirdo who talks to herself during Mexican meals. I liked that they had an unlimited supply of salsa to take and that they gave free chips with the order, even though we already ordered nachos. We ordered take out, but it seemed like it would’ve been a comfortable place to gorge ourselves with big ol’ messy burritos. The chicken taco ranchero was excellent. The steak quesadilla was excellent. The nachos were excellent and super greasy, the way craved food should be. And if you like shrimp, I’m sure the shrimp burrito would’ve been excellent. As fast-food seeming as the place was, it felt a lot more authentic than Chipotle or Qdoba, as though everything you order was made specially for you and as unique as a deep fried nacho chip.

How I miss you, Green Cactus! I love this place– it’s fast and delicious! The fish tacos are to die for. Yes, it’s not a top notch dining experience, but this is what we come her for — a quick, tasty bite! I love the fish burrito as well– the fish is crispy and yummy! The place has a divy/casual/fast food/chain feel but you won’t be dissapointed!

My personal favorites here are 1) nachos with black beans and steak and 2) any kind of burrito(optionally cheesed up with the ‘make it wet’ feature). Service is fast enough(not super speedy but not slow) and the staff are nice. Lots of seating and not a bad option at all if you’re by the train station or running over from the university during lunch.

I come here always to get the CHICKENTORTASANDWICH. so delicious. they make it fresh on the spot, so you usually need to wait 10+ minutes for the order. it comes with a side of free nachos — unsalted so you can dip into the free salsa provided. i got the steak torta before, but i didn’t love it… maybe because i’m not much of a steak fan. but i definitely recommend you must try the chicken torta.
