Absolutely recommend this place. First time here and won’t be last. Service was excellent! Even my puppy was well taken care of. Food was wonderful. The salad dressing was in my opinion TDF, so of course I got the recipe! We sat outside as it was such a nice day but I wondered inside to request the bill and OMG it is devine in there. The décor is gorgeous!!! You must go!

Highly recommend this place! The oysters were so good and fresh. The owner was a riot and even hooked us up with some fresh littleneck clams. There was 2 different happy hour beers, can’t remember the names but both very delicious as well. Try and get the seat by the window because its just a great place to unwind and enjoy. Sadly I didn’t try the food but you can bet on me coming back to try it!

Love this place! This was our first time here. The service was impeccable: attentive, friendly and offered spot-on recommendations(from both our server and the owner). The food was delicious and majorly impressive for a bar/restaurant. We split the oysters in the half shell as a starter and they were so large and fresh. We also split a bottle of wine which was fairly priced. For an entrée I ordered the snow crab legs, which come with corn on the cob(a full ear) and two red potatoes(which are also large). The pricing was completely reasonable for everything, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The décor made me feel like I was at home in a seaside restaurant. I will definitely be back. Specifically to try the surf and turf! :)

for a first-timer here, the food was OK. appetizer: HH Oysters — cant go wrong with $ 1 oysters/clams Shrimp Cocktail — the shrimps were pretty decent sized Baked Oysters — didnt think it was worth $ 10. they were OK but they were a tad small Lobster Mac n Cheese — this was delicious but would have liked more lobster(but who wouldnt) entrée snow crab legs — the plate was ginormous but the crab legs, it lacked a little in size. the flavor was delicious. it wasnt as meaty as i would have preferred it. not sure if its because of the season or their distributor. $ 21 wasnt too hefty of a price for that i got. the corn was great, but the steamed potato, eh. there was no flavor, it was literally just steamed and placed on the plate. they didnt have too big of a menu since its more of a bar/pub type of fee.

Murphy’s never disappoints. The food and service are always impeccable. The décor is super cute too, and the section right before the curbside tables is the best! Came here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night. Our waiter was attentive(we’ve had him before and he was awesome then too) and the owner was great and super helpful in recommending a new beer and the special. My BF got the salmon special which was phenomenal and I got the crab legs — both fresh and delicious! To start, we had oysters and baked clams… yummmmm! Live music inside too which is always a lovely touch :) Murphy’s, keep up the great work… You guys are awesome!

2 of us ordered a dozen oysters, lobster Mac and cheese and baked clams and steak fries. Exceptional personal friendly warm service :) Murphy himself is an awesome host. I’ll definitely recommend this place for large groups for a nice homely nautically themed restaurant. Nothing pretentious, just good seafood with great staff and fair prices

Service– 5 stars(waiter Tony and owner) Food — 4 Stars Arrived 12:30p for Sunday brunch with hubby(place was empty). Menu was limited but has what we wanted. Service was excellent! Great personality, attentive and always had a smile. Starters — 2 dozen oysters($ 1 each until 6pm) Served with horseradish, cocktail sauce & mignonette. Oysters were fresh but some had cracked shells in it. My Entrée — Lobster roll, tasty and nice twist with cucumbers in it but roll was pretty small. $ 18 Hubby’s Entrée — Lobster Mac & Cheese. Delish! Very creamy and not too cheesy. It had about the same amount of lobster meat on the lobster roll. We both enjoyed it a lot. $ 17 Will definitely come back for dinner and more oysters. Not sure will I order the lobster roll but will definitely get the oysters and lobster mac & cheese.

Originally reviewed this on 7÷4÷15, but for some reason that review is gone??? Anyway, a recap, because they deserve it: This was my husband’s and my first time at Murphy’s and both of our first time trying raw oysters. They tasted fresh and sweet! My husband had a steak, cooked to perfection. We also tried the lobster mac and cheese, fried calamari, lobster roll, and salmon sliders(my personal favorite). The kids had fun little sliders and fries, and my picky 2-year-old son even surprised us by actually eating the calamari! Our waiter was very attentive. Not a glass or plate went empty before he returned to ask if we needed another, or anything else. Drinks were also great. With the spectacular food, great service, and an all-around outstanding experience for a very reasonable price, we will definitely be back! A 5 star experience all the way!

Oh my, I went back last Saturday and they had a new Bruncheon menu. I had Salmon Sliders and my partner had the freshly baked croissant with chicken salad and melted cheddar. They both were very tantalizing and scrumptious. I’ll be back.

First time at murphys and I do not regret it, food and staff were on point. Lobster mac and cheese, and the salmon sliders are the way to go. Fish tacos and lobster roll were awesome too! Love this place.

Any place where the staff, food and price are amazing, is exactly where you should be ! The steak was cooked to perfection, the oysters were as fresh as can be, and the people that work there are genuinely warm. Thank you Murphys Bar

Finally managed to checkout Murphy’s after several months living in Sunnyside, and I’m glad I did! The manager is wonderful and a genuinely nice guy, which complements his equally nice and attentive staff. Great atmosphere, and a great menu. I’m a bad person to ask about seafood, since I’m not really a seafood guy, but I was impressed with their non-fish options, which were nice for a restaurant mostly advertised as a lobster grill. Tonight I had one of the specials– the breaded Mac and cheese in vodka sauce; the portions were great and the flavor was exactly what I wanted. I’ll definitely be heading back again very soon!

So you’re looking for a not-packed-to-capacity brunch spot on Mother’s Day and you notice this place. Hey, who doesn’t like seafood for brunch? We had the small cold seafood platter(which was huge and we could barely see each other around the crown of shrimp), a salad, and a few sides. The oysters were on point and I mean how am I going to complain about fresh, sweet crab and lobster? Seems like a kind of random place to have such solid gifts from the sea, but here we are(in Sunnyside)(eating crab). The staff is absolutely lovely and attentive, too. GOODJOB, RESTAURANT! I LIKEYOU!

One of my faves! The owner is such a friendly, personable & genuine guy. I get a great feeling every time I’m here. The restaurant part has really cool décor and you can tell so much attention to detail went into it. I’m a seafood fiend so everything is good to me but nothing can beat the oysters happy hour!

Ok! The place is cool don’t get me wrong and the oysters are good but they feel not so fresh anymore… Idk And what’s up with… If you sit here it’s a $ 1 per oyster and if you sit there it’s $ 2 per oyster… that stupid! It doesn’t hurt your business to smile guys… It can only help.

Not being a huge fan of lobster, when wife suggested the bar I was very reluctant. But what a pleasant surprise! Service was attentive and polite. Waiter was very friendly and joked with us a bit. Made some good recommendations voluntarily(very tired of those waiters who say«everything tastes good»). We ordered 4 raw oysters($ 1 each bar special) as appetizer and shared the«surf and turf» entrée, and finished off with chocolate mousse cake. The raw oysters tasted very sweet and fresh, the accompanying three sauces(horse radish marinara and something i dont know of) were standard but nonetheless complemented the natural taste of oyster very well without overpowering it. The quality of the oysters was amazing considering the price of $ 1. I had paid easily three times that for oysters that tastes similar. The surf and turf is lobster and steak, for $ 37(market price). Lobsters is steamed whole. It was a bit of a pain to crack and dissect(especially for my Korean born wife who apparently never had to crack a lobster before in her life) but the meat is tender and very juicy. Less fresh lobsters start lose its sweetness pretty quickly, but their lobster was obviously still very fresh. The steak was standard fare, but seasoned well without overdoing and cooked to perfect medium rare as ordered. The combination was enough to satisfy my wife and myself. The waiter voluntarily recommended the chocolate mousse cake so we ordered one. It was sweet and smooth and presented nicely. Being a big fan of chocolate it was a very nice conclusion of the meal. We sat in the seats chatting a bit(and writing this review) as it started to get darker outside. The waiter politely asked to light the candles at the tables and alone the fireplace we sat next to. The restaurant felt very comfortable and welcoming as a result. Great experience. My wife and I are eager to come back again sometime soon to try their other dishes and stuff ourselves with the raw oyster special if they still have it.

Try the Prix Fixe menu(Mon-Fri, 4−7pm) ASAP! Given the quality of the food and the $ 25 price, you really can’t beat the value! In trying most of the food, there isn’t one complaint I can think of. — Lobster Bisque: Not the traditional creamy bisque I’m used to and definitely more stew-like. But it was very delicious and it had a strong lobster taste with some chunks of meat. Would definitely order again. — Oysters(half shell): Very big, fresh and flavorful! — Lobster Mac n Cheese: Chunks of meat, creamy cheese and just the right portion as it’s pretty filling. — Steak Frites: I kept some of the extra butter from the corn muffins(which were great) and added it to the NY strip steak. Cooked just the way I wanted it and had no complaints with the simple seasoning of salt and pepper. Fries were crispy and not burnt. — Chocolate Mousse: They give you a large slice so it was extremely decadent for me. I don’t believe they make it themselves but nonetheless, it was tasty! — Tiramisu: A basic tiramisu, nothing outstanding but a safe option if that’s what you’re craving.

I don’t eat seafood but my boyfriend wanted to try this restaurant out. We came here on a weeknight and it was empty. There was one waitress and she was nice. We ordered the Shanghai rolls(fried pork and cabbage spring rolls) as an appetizer. I got the 14 oz. Angus strip steak grilled & steak fries and my boyfriend ordered the special of the day — garlic parmasean salmon with rosemary red potatoes. My food was good and well seasoned. The portion is a decent size. I had no complaints. My boyfriend said his food was good too, but the salmon was slightly overcooked. The décor is simple with wooden chairs, tables, and wooden benches along the restaurant wall.

Get me nauseous and I will give you two stars, get me sick and I will give you one, good thing I didn’t get sick and thank God for ginger ale. I really really wanted to love this place because I love the places on Skillman, I am a fan of Quaint, Aubergine, and Bliss Bistro before they moved. The décor is really casual and nautical and it seems like a fun place to eat and hangout, but my meal here was a miss. You know it’s a bad experience when you can’t wait to get home just to write the review… The food: Half a dozen Blue Points– First off, I love oysters, Blue Points are not my first choice but they are good non the less. I had a major issue with the oysters here, not sure if this contributed to my nauseousness, but the oysters were warm. WTF!!! Yeah, they were room temp and slightly slimy. Come on, this is restaurant 101. The plate it was served on was ice cold, the amount of ice on the plate was almost insulting and the oysters were room temp, I couldn’t get over this. At least the flavors seemed fresh and the accoutrements were pleasant.
Comp Corn bread– it was homemade and quite good. Lobster Mac n Cheese– chunks of lobster sautéed in sharp cheddar cream sauce & shells. Where do I begin… OK, let’s start with the photo, how much lobster do you see in the pic? Yup, that kinda represented the amount of lobster underneath. Second, the shells tasted bland, bland like they just dumped just boiled pasta in the dish and served it without seasoning. And I am not quite sure if there was JUST lobster in my dish. Some of the ‘lobster” meat tasted awfully sweet in a non lobster/imitation crab meat kinda way. Oh, the garlic bread had nice flavor, but was on the greasy side.
