BEWARE: I got food poisoning from this restaurant and this is the first time I’ve been here. Both my friend and I who had lunch here also got food poisoning. I had squid and frog during lunch. Will never come back here again.

Worth a try. They have all kinds of spicy pots. I tried 6 of them and most are very good. The portion is not very generous considering the price. Once we had 5 people and finished 2 large 3 med pots without a problem. I won’t go there very often given that, but would still recommend it when asked by friends.

The food is not the best I have ever tried. Not worth the long waiting line. Finally we got a table and were told some add-on are sold out. We ordered frozen tofu and eggplant, only found 4 pieces tofu and 2 pieces eggplant. What The!

Most of my review talks about hate waiting in line. But I had to say, it seems like they have no slow hours. Every time I go they seems busy.(of course still try to avoid lunch or dinner time so you wouldn’t have to wait that long) If you like spicy food, here’s the place for you. You can also adjust your own spicy level. I love the combination pot, just random choose two or have them recommend for you. Im actually pretty sensitive to msg, and usually my throat get so dry after chinese restaurants, but it didnt happen here for me. I will be back for sure :) Last time when I was there, they actually ran out of rice when our pot was out, it seems like they are so busy and the rice cooking time couldn’t catch up. We waited a little but still enjoyed the dinner tho. The service is pretty good, they do have enough people serving(most chinese restaurants don’t have enough help out for the tables)

Very average place. Can’t believe I heard there were long lines waiting to eat this earlier when it just opened. It is not priced to compete and food is very mediocre and not impressive. Meat doesn’t taste that fresh. I always want to support new restaurants open in the Bay Area, but I just can’t for this place.

We got a dry pot with lamb, lunch meat and fish + veggies. The fish wasn’t fresh(not even as good as the frozen stuff), lamb was lukewarm when it was brought out(also not fresh), and veggies were soaked in the sauce on the bottom which was too salty. Overall the pot of food looks much better than it actually tastes. They gave us a discount for paying cash + the Unilocal discount which is the only reason I gave two stars. Still a bit pricey.

Heard this new place and decided to stop by… it was actually my first time trying dry hot pot. My party & I ordered the combo, beef and squid with the side dishes of lobster balls and tofu… We also ordered Pork Ears, it was a bit on the dry side but still delicious. Drinks are served in plastic cups, besides the hot teas. I really wish employees would respect customers personal space when explaining the menu. Our waiter kept reaching over on one of us, explaining and pointing at items on the menu. It was pretty uncomfortable. With a party of 5, our total came up to only $ 70. Not bad, the portions of the food is a lot. I do recommend this place, it has the atmosphere of just chilling & eating with good friends.

Went with my wife and we had the shrimp and chicken wing combo. It was so satisfying to taste the same dish in my neighborhood.

Since I am not that familiar with Hunan style food, I can’t be too critical. I didnt feel like they were very welcoming to a Caucasian crowd .I think maybe they are trying to appeal more to a Chinese crowd, but I kind of like being the only one that is Caucasian. I feel it is a good sign it’s authentic . The words on the door were only in Chinese characters. Most people speak mainly English in America. I wouldn’t go to China, expecting to read English. Anyway, I really enjoyed the flavors here. I really love spicy. Next time I will try a seafood dish. This time was chicken, since my daughter is not a fan of seafood . At 5:30 pm, they were out of 3 appetizers that we wanted. I guess we need to get there for lunch maybe. The food was really really oily, although I don’t know if that’s normal, but Italians are used to oil. I am definitely going to try it again !

4.5 star on the food. 1 star on everything else. One thing amazing for a Cantonese foodie is that they have an incredibly wide variety of ingredients for the pot base — even frogs, rabbits and beef tongue which is nowhere else to be found and absolutely delicious. And the level of spicy and flavor is customized. However, the place is obviously making every effort to cut its cost — the disposable chopsticks are of terrible quality that the rag sting hurt my lip; tables are very close. Noise level is unbearably high. I always wish the Chinese restaurants in this area could raise their price a bit and improve the overall environment. But it just doesn’t seem to be happening.

I love this place and they serve very authentic food. I have tried beef, snail and fish, all taste delicious. The best pot In Bay Area! I was surprised by their pumpkin cakes, those are made from fresh pumpkin not the canned ones. Their Boba milk tea is amazing! Thumb up!

We ordered catfish pot, the fish was very bland. We asked the waiter to refire, he refused and insist their fish was seasoned well. The side dishes in the pot are very greasy, overall taste not good. Restaurant floor felt slippery and dirty. They ask people to post photo in Wechat friend circle so people get 10%discount. However, when such bad food pictures popping out in your social network from time to time, it’s really annoying. 点了鲶鱼香锅,鱼肉没有味道,服务员也不肯端回去回锅,配菜太油。味道实在算不上好,还利用微信朋友圈发图打九折做广告,隔三差五被刷屏实在太烦。

mediocre food, tiny portion. yes, this is the only place in south bay to get Chinese style dry pot, so yes, i waited in line to give it a try. very disappointed. just the typical flavor of a dry pot, nothing to complain but nothing impressed. the astonishing part is the tiny portion of side orders added into the dry pot. among our side orders are shitake mushroom and beef tendon ball. we couldn’t find any of them in our pot so we thought the chef forgot about it. when notified a waiter, he successfully helped us identified small pieces of both shitake mushroom and beef tendon ball, which could probably add up to half of a shitake mushroom and half of a tendon ball. service is also not good. no water /tea served until asked. there are only two high chairs in the whole store which clearly not enough for the number of seats they have.

This place is PACKED. The wait time is insane. We got a beef pot, catfish pot, and a griddle cooked whole tilapia pot. The tilapia was small but the taste was great. 10% off if you share the photos on Wechat and another 5%off for paying cash. Overall the food is great; however, I don’t think it worth the wait and the price.

You got to be careful to know what actually can be in the pot, the Xiangguo, or you wont be very likely to enjoy the treat. Luckily yesterday I didn’t wait for too long.

Very poor operational management. If we are OK with lining up for almost an hour for being seated, what is it if they keep you another hour for the first pot?! And the flavor… we didn’t even get any taste after hours of waiting. Never come back again.

Wait is insane. We got a combo pot for group of four. Lamb + chicken wing. Lamb is bone-in, which I liked a lot. My friend didn’t seem to enjoy the bone though. Also we got extra vegetables, glass noodle and tofu in the pot and some dessert. They messed up our order by missing out noodle, and adding extra pig blood which was not in our order. We communicated with the waitress and they were very nice about it. The restaurant owner apologized and removed the extra noodle/pig blood cost for us. Thumb up. Overall food and service are both fine. Price is very competitive after applying the opening discount.(less than $ 15/person including tax and tip) I would definitely come back when the Grand Opening crowds fade away.

I was firstly attracted by their ads and discount, there was long line every evening till 10pm,I went here at lunch time, waited for 30 mins. However it took 20 mins for the waiter to serve the beverage and 40 mins after I had the meal I ordered, the grilled fish was overcooked and the spice taste awful. There are 99% of chinese customers and ironically the food is not authentic at all. The servers are not professional they are not so into their work. For whoever would give a shot to this place, dont waste your money!

The old Bay Leaf spot went under and there’s a new Hot Pot player in town. Claimed as the only non soup hot pot style Sichuan place, it looks like it originally started in San Diego. We dropped in as we drove by the sign not knowing it was the first day and that they had such a crazy following already. We were also declared the first non Chinese customers out of a sea of rabid Mandarin speakers. Got the combo lamb and beef tongue put with medium spicy garlic flavoring. It’s a huge pot and can serve 3 but since one of my friends has a gluten allergy, so he had to get a different combo pot. Food for 8 with 2 folks was quite the feast. Good familiar spicy Sichuan flavoring with well cooked proteins. One of the partners is up from San Diego and took good care of us despite the madness. Id say wait a few days for the craze to die down as we showed up at 2pm and it was still quite the wait. Now I know what the dry style hot pot tastes like.
