Great sushi, online ordering g for take out leaves a bit to be desired. You can’t order when they are closed and schedule a pick-up when they are open. Sushi is good quality. The yellow tail is great. Michael

Eel w avocado roll, Dragon Roll and California Roll satisfied my sons sushi craving! Our top choice for sushi rolls in the area. Con, they don’t have Kikkoman Soy Sauce Packages to go.

This was the best sushi I have ever had. The service was fast, which made the experience better. I had the sawa special to start which was incredible. I also started out with the eggplant cha cha, which everyone needs to try. I will be getting that every time. I had the rock shrimp roll for dinner and I have never tasted anything like it. The serving size was perfect for one person. And I recommend sharing the appetizers.

Good quality sushi, great service. I usually take the hot green tea here and it’s unlimited. They continuously walk around with a hot pot refilling your glass. I’ve only been here at lunch for their lunch specials. Menu is very similar to other sushi places around the area, but where this place differs is in their quality of the food they serve as well as their customer service. Try it out.

Worst sushi lunch«special» I’ve ever eaten. First, my miso soup was cold. Then my rolls were not very fresh. One in particular was the eel avocado roll. The eel was chewy and seemed old. Super disappointed and grossed out.

We were in need of a sushi fix and didnt want to travel far so we chose Sawa which is around the corner. Previous visit we were not happy with the prep of our fish and that was due to our #1 Sushi Chef not being there that night. So glad we returned on Saturday around 9pm with hopes of having a terrific meal. No disappointment… Lee our guy was there and the place was jumpin! For a small venue there were alot of folks enjoying their food and the sushi bar, where we always sit, had room for us… We parked our butts and chatted with Lee and perused the fresh fish in front of us. Our first foray was an order of 6 each; Belly Hamach, Belly Sake and the freshest Engawa I ever had… Perfeeeect! After knocking that down we moved on to wonderfully fresh Uni with Quail egg sushi and Ikura sushi… again fresh and fantastic! From there we moved on to Blue Fin Toro and Belly Sake sashami… HONESTLY…it melted in our mouths like butta! Ya gotta check out my photos… Next was Unagi Sushi… Grilled to perfection and covered with tasty eel sauce. As our closing course we ordered two Salmon Skin Handrolls. They were packed with crisp tasty Salmon Skin… a real taste treat. Its wonderful to have such an outstanding Sushi Bar so close to home and now that we returned its our new go to Sushi Bar Restaurant… Please note that we dont order rolls, only sushi and sashami cause thats how we like it!!! BTW: Important note… All the good stuff is either under the counter or in the kitchen. Be sure and ask for belly or fatty in your hamach, salmon and tuna! You will be glad you did. Also you may wonder if its so good why only 4 stars. When we return, if its as good as it was Saturday we will go for the 5th star!

Service is excellent, waiter extremely friendly and advising on what rolls to order and what not to order. The Kumamoto Oysters from Japan were amazing so don’t miss out while they are in season. We had too many rolls to remember which ones were our favorites but satisfied with all of them. Rice was the good, sticky kind — and this coming from my Japanese wife who is very picky and notices when places will skimp on the rice. Drinks were good — my wife had a Pomegranate Martini, made strong and I had a small bottle of a super dry osake. Ambience is nice — casual for kids but you won’t be out of place if you wear a sport coat on a date. We went on a Sunday evening and the restaurant had a nice dinner-time feel with ambient lighting.

Food was really good. The receptionist was really nice and made good conversation. I went during lunch time and got 3 rolls of shrimp tempura. I didn’t know that it came with avocados because it usually doesn’t but it was still really good!

LOVE love love Sawa. I have not found a better place on Long Island yet, especially for me because I’m so price conscious. I do have to mention that I don’t order special rolls. I think special rolls 90% of the time take away from the true sushi experience and are very Americanized. I guess I’m more traditional and tend to only order sushi and sashimi dinners. The sushi/sashimi here is always fresh. I have never had an issue and I dine/take out often. The sushi is very longggg and the sashimi is thick! Your dollars are well spent on the generous portion. I just ate at Arata sushi in Syosset and it was so tiny compared to Sawa. Always a great taste, color and smell. Very reasonably priced, especially considering it’s in Syosset. Also, if you order online you get 20% off! Just because. I recommend to anyone that will listen. Oh also… a tip if you are very hungry and like sushi/sashimi: their bento box comes with a bunch of stuff and two of the options you can pick are sushi/sashimi! I have yet to see that at other places. You get a large amount of food for a great price, and if you take out it’s 20% off! Edit: I’ve noticed some bad reviews here and I can’t agree with any of them. You should note most of them are from years ago.

Food is great– always polite-place is always clean… one funny thing– they always round up– like if total is $ 12.08, they will charge you $ 12.10… every time never fails! I guess you do that enough times with every customer and you come out ahead.

They were great. I went for an early dinner with my Godmother and we were the first of their dinner crowd. Very attentive wait staff and BEAUTIFUL presentation of food. Best part for me is, they have a GLUTENFREEMENU. I have a gluten allergy and sushi is my absolute favorite.. . their gluten free menu features all sorts of dishes from their regular menu, some adjusted to be gluten free and they have gluten free soy sauce! Awesome. Nice setting, too. We sat next to the waterfall in the middle… very peaceful. Good service.

This is my favorite sushi place on Long Island. It is never to busy so there is always a place for us to sit right away and the waitstaff is always around when you need them. Whenever I go, which is about once a week I get the Fantasy Roll because it is the best thing on the menu! My friend usually gets the syosset roll and loves it as well. Prices are about the same as every other sushi place but rolls are big and fill you up. So happy I found this place!

No complaints here folks this place is top notch. Fresh sushi and yummy fried rice I was in food heaven. I treated myself with a special roll called the yammy roll it was shrimp tempura with spicy tuna on top and eel sauce TOOGOOD. Then I split some chicken fried rice with my friend which was big enough for four. It was a little difficult to get the staffs attention but other than that I really love this place!

Very good sushi. I had the california and fantasy roll .They also have cooked entrees that are also very good. It’s a small place and it’s a little dark in there. Also they always bring you the food very fast and as soon as you eat they bring you the check.

This is one of my favorite sushi places. The fish is always fresh and the servers are always very nice! The place is not huge and usually pretty packed so I have had to wait a few times but it’s definitely worth the wait! My favorite thing on the menu is the sushi pizza sandwich I definitely recommend trying it!

This has quickly become one of my favorite sushi places on the Island. I’ve only been here twice but after the first time I was hooked! The only reason I even knew about it was because a friend of mine put up a picture on instagram and I knew I needed that in my belly. The first time we went it was quite busy but we snagged a table quickly. This time the restaurant was virtually empty! We were seated and brought over water and hot tea. I scoped the menu before arriving on Sunday and knew exactly what we were ordering. Crispy rice with spicy tuna: Perfection. Warm crispy rice topped with cold super spicy tuna and crunch scallions. So amazing a must order. My sweet fiancé ordered the chirashi and said it was one of the best he’s had especially for the price. I ordered the Maki combo b which had the Tokyo roll(spicy Kani and shrimp), eel avocado, and spicy tuna. They were so delicious and stuffed to the brim with fresh ingredients. We also shared the crispy and spicy roll. Shrimp and asparagus inside topped with spicy tuna. Very delicious. I can’t wait until our next date night here!

I’ve ordered from Sawa Sushi multiple times and each time has been met with well-made, high quality sushi! For the record — I can only comment on their food because I’ve only ever ordered food for pick-up. The dining room, however, does look like a pleasant space in which to enjoy a meal with some friends or a special someone. The most important thing about ordering from Sawa(or any restaurant, for that matter) is the hand-to-mouth action that will occur. I’ve ordered the same rolls each time I’ve come — the shrimp tempura roll and the Tokyo wrap roll. Both are #amazeballs! I need to be in the mood to eat sushi, and if I’m not happy with it, my entire evening could be ruined by mediocre food at an exceptionally high cost. Sawa, however, leaves me feeling happy inside. The shrimp tempura roll is crispy and flavorful, and I can never get enough of it. The Tokyo wrap roll is packed with a balance of sweet and spicy, combining spicy crab, mango, avocado, and jalapeño. It’s a festival in your mouth that you’ll enjoy, I promise. There aren’t many sushi places in this area(from what I can tell), and if you’re going to be stuck going to one place, it better be as good as Sawa Sushi!
