This place is great! Food always taste great as it should, service is pretty quick and their restaurant is always clean. I’ve been eating at this place since they were just a tiny little store and now they have a huge location which is impressive! Keep up the good work and support latino owned businesses.

Very standoffish wait staff. Absolutely no help ordering, they just stared. Ok. Ordered the combo dinner, $ 13+, and chips/salsa. All of the food was really good, but not hot enough. I don’t mean spicy, I mean temperature. The meal was huge, big enough for two, and it was good. I love Mexican food, and don’t mind a no-frills restaurant, so I’ll be back. But I don’t really understand the service, or lack of it.

This place is decent overall in terms of prices, service, cleanliness, quality, and taste of food. I tried the huarache($ 10, basically a thick tortilla layered with beans, meat, lettuce, avocado, sour cream) since it was one of their two«signature dishes». The quality and taste were just average though, so I didn’t feel it was that special of a plate. I also tried two of their tacos($ 2.50 each) to get a feel for how well they made those, but these were also just average. Nothing bad, just nothing that was noteworthy about the taste. I’d give it a 3.75 stars. Some side benefits: there’s a decent amount of parking, lots of seating, a good selection of drinks, and apparently a bakery in the back. And their red sauce is super spicy — not for the faint of heart.

Okay first off, I am the biggest fan of the seasoned chicken tacos from Sanchez. They’re my absolute favorite and I will always come to this spot because of them. I’ve been coming here for a few months now and every visit I am a little more disappointed with the customer service. Today I called my order in before I left so it would be a more convenient pick up with my 1 year old son. The woman took my order over the phone no problem. I arrived 15 minutes later and walked in to hear they had no ticket for my order at all. Okay, that’s fine I’ll be patient. They tell me they’re out of seasoned chicken, major disappointment! Next the woman behind the counter with the metallic eyeliner every time I see her is extremely rude and standoffish to her customers, me included. I stopped tipping her because she is so rude to me and I am nothing but polite when I’m in the establishment. It’s really important to maintain good customer service, giving attitude to customers is a big no. Please just treat others as you would like to be treated!

Something has changed with this restaurant, and not for the better. I have eaten here for over a decade, more times than I can count, and used to say I could never get tired of their food, service, and wonderful local atmosphere. However, a big draw had always been the flavorful chili in oil, which used to be on every table. That has now disappeared. Their(formerly delicious) green and red salsa is ruined by a heavy dose of habanero and if you’re not careful your whole plate will become inedible. Worse, the food now often arrives barely lukewarm. Please Sanchez, go back to your former standards and don’t let the quality slip. Mexican food should be piping hot to melt cheese and mingle flavors… and you shouldn’t have to discard your whole meal because the salsa is too hot to consume.

My family and I have been eating at Sanchez for about 17 years! It’s my favorite Mexican food in town. The food is earthy and delicious and unlike TexMex places is not smothered in sauces so you can really taste the food! My favorite dishes are the enchiladas and the tamales, but what I like best is the amazing and SPICEY red salsa. I saw a couple of comments about the taco being served with flour rather than corn tortillas. My mother-in-law is from Sonora, Mexico and only serves tacos with soft, flour tortillas so maybe it’s a regional thing? I’d give five stars for the food alone, but the atmosphere is a little lacking, but I guess they’ve decided to focus on the food! Looking forward to trying one of the margaritas when I’m not pregnant!

I love Sanchez. I have had the tacos, burrito, and the wet burrito(yum) they make a hot oil that is the best in Portland. I have been coming here for a few years and it is always good. Always consistent.

I can’t express how delicious their food is here. Moving here from Los Angeles it’s been tough finding a place to get good Mexican food. The«huarache» is one of my favorites. The asada meat could use a bit more flavor for my taste but still good. The green salsa is the best. I like their tamales there but they use too much masa and not enough meat for it. Overall it’s a great place to try if you haven’t already. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Been coming here for over 5 years. It’s one of my stops whenever in Portland. Anything on the menu will leave you satisfied.

Sanchez Taqueria is a delicious little Taqueria with exceptional Tacos that are very cheap and very filling. I have ordered enough tacos to feed a football party or for my own personal consumption. The Tacos are very fairly priced and delicious. I know this place has great food when I am the only English speaking person in line. The customer service is very precise in person, but needs work on over the phone orders. Aside from the tacos, the rest of the menu needs some find tuning and even though the tacos are delicious there could be some variance as well. But kudos to this sentimental treasure for sticking with simple things and making the food fast at a very fair price.

This is the 4th or 5th time here. My wife and I went there last night. I got the chicken enchiladas… huge disappointment. Stale, dry tortilla, overcooked unseasoned meat. There was a pig pile of shredded cabbage on top. My wife had a pork dish, cant remember the name. She said hers was overcooked and under seasoned. I’m not sure if we have been going when there a different cook? I had a decent burrito for lunch there a few months back. I really want this place to be good. It seems to get decent reviews. For me, only one meal being good out of 5, I don’t think I’ll be going back.

With so many options along this stretch of 99W, the ratings that Sanchez pulls always surprised me. I was unimpressed with any of their food and the prices really got me. Went in for a simple wet burrito and bill was almost $ 14. To many other options in the area to compromise here.

Been here twice. I have left unimpressed both times. The first time I ordered a pastor torta. It was just meh. The second time I wanted a breakfast burrito. But they don’t have them on the menu. Which is kind of understandable, because burritos are a Tex Mex /SW US /Chihuahua food item anyway, and this restaurant is more of an «Old Mexico» eatery. Anyway. After much back and forth, the woman behind the counter was able to figure out how to get me one. She even had to leave the counter to go to the kitchen and ask how much to charge me. Finally, after all of that, when the burrito arrived, it was. .. kinda lame. I just can’t imagine how can someone mess that up. But then my friend’s tacos arrived on. .. flour tortillas! In Mexico, tacos are NEVEREVER served on flour tortillas unless they are specifically ordered as such, which he didn’t. He ate them all the same, so maybe he used telepathy, I dunno. However, the green sauce at the table was pretty yummy and so it spared them the much dreaded single star review.

You can tell from the reviews that its a love-it or leave-it kind of place and I’m in the LOVE-IT camp. Maybe the dislikes come from people used to junky americanized mexjoints. This place has great food. My favorite place for street tacos.

When Taqueria Portland closed in our old neighborhood we were so sad. Sanchez Taqueria was exactly what we were looking for! If you are looking for an authentic taqueria, look no further. This place is great and the homemade tortillas were a delicious bonus!

This place has become my favorite place to come and have a great burrito. I drive a pretty great distance to enjoy and will do it again. Very friendly and fast service. The price is very reasonable and the food is amazing. Large portions so if you order more than one item you may not finish everything. I always plan I trying something else other than the chicken burrito or tacos but these are my go to!

Sorry, Portland. You still have yet to meet my Mexican food expectations. Tonite was the weirdest plate of enchiladas(my go-to for first time experiences) ive ever had — dry, grated(I think it was) goat cheese(but looked like parmesan) topped my beans and was the cheese for said enchiladas. Topped with cabbage. Was later told by a friend this is «Baja»… The high note was the crunchy taco with asada instead of ground beef. …overpriced again, to top it off. Ready for this one, folks? $ 11.50 plate+ $ 2.50 taco. The low point is that — high dollar prices in a low dollar joint… all that out of your pocket, and there’s only ONE bathroom for the entire restaurant, which just so happened to be covered in urine. I didn’t finish my food on grounds of principle… that, and all of our stomachs were getting rocked in the worst way. Another strike in my search… until next time, I’ll be dreaming of Taco Cabana.

I was craving some good authentic Mexican food, and came across this one. Looks kinda shabby on the outside with a ton of hispanic folk walking in, so I knew this place was golden. Love it when I’m right! This place is totally legit. First thing I saw was horchata. YESSSS… We got a tasting of their tacos — hard, soft, beef, pork, chicken. My fav was the soft pork taco. Personally I think hard tacos are not very«authentic» just cause I love little soft tacos, but their homemade hard shell tacos were pretty good. But don’t get me started on the tortillas. Those bad boys are yummy. We all ordered a little bit of everything and it all was delish. A little in the greasy side but it’s a small price to pay for flavor. The only disappointment I had was the horchata, sadly. It was a little too sweet for me. Adding some ice helped a little. Can’t wait to come back for more!

I’m still on the hunt for the best Mexican food in suburban Portland. Tell you anything? The sauces were really good — one green and tropically fruity(habanero in the mix?) the other red and roasted. Dried oregano was a condiment on the table, which was a first for me. It made it into the salsa and added an interesting nuance. Chips were fair. They didn’t seem commercial and may have been made in-house, and the salsa was a match. Fair. I had a tongue burrito, wife had grilled chicken tacos. Tongue seemed to still have the layer that should be taken off before cooking(you may know what I mean), and tasted a little more«tonguey» than I have come to be accustomed to. Also a miss, the chicken in my wife’s tacos was not grilled. Interestingly enough however, the tacos came in gringo-flour tortillas. My Irish wife likes them that way, but it was the first time I had seen tacos served not in corn tortillas. Maybe they sensed her gringa-ness and sent the flour in anticipation. They guessed right. Our beverages that accompanied lunch were soft, and we did not find a fountain, so out of the bottle only. Chips were not gratis, and were by order only. The interior is spacious and open with worn chairs and 4-spot or 6-spot seating. The bar looked to have about 8 spots for seating. This is an order, take a number, wait for your food kind of place, but that was not reflected in the price of our meal. The $ 25 dollar range was high for our two tacos, burrito, chips and two sodas. Had the food and atmosphere been wowing, I would be more inclined to not feel as disadvantaged.
