This was my second meal recently that I noticed has not been as good like there food use to be. I had not been there in a while, so not sure if new owners? Pancakes in past were delicious! This past visit were not. They use to use a malt pancake mix. It didn’t taste like same batter. So I love chicken lemon rice soup from any coney island. This soup was like broth and barely had a lemon taste. Tons of huge chunks of chicken? Not your typical chicken lemon rice soup. Very disappointing. I think we have gone to Sparta for the last time. I will be going to the competition down the street !

Great place! Needed a quick place to eat after a funeral. This place is clean, the staff is extremely friendly and the food is great. It was hot, well cooked and the potions are above normal. The prices are very good. A definite return trip planned when we are back on that side of town.

Very good food. Excellent service. Friendly wait staff. Bad choice of television programs which distracts from the classic down river ambience. I had blt was yummmmy and so was the non bearded clam chowder. Good value

Just had an outstanding Greek omelet, top notch! Also the chicken parmigiana is great really everything I’ve had there is THE BOMB. Do yourself a favor and stop in.

Good food, typical Coney Island. Service was polite and kind.
My father and I go there often for breakfast, I get something different every time and there is nothing yet I do not enjoy. I recommend the western omelette, it is a large portion and you will leave happy!

Ordered a meat lovers skillet with over easy eggs for a carry out. When I got home with my food I found the eggs over cooked and the yolks hard. When I called back I was told it was my fault and remaking the order was too big a cost for them. Will never go back

Delish ! This is what you think of when you think of a diner but even better ! My chicken Greek salad was fabulous big pieces of chicken merinated and tasty ! I can’t say enough about this place. Love it ! What a gem !

I love Sparta! My mother and I have made this restaurant part of our weekly lunch routine! They have an awesome lunch special for $ 6.25 that comes with a sandwich of your choice, a cup of soup, and fries!!! It’s awesome :) we love the vegetable beef soup and the chicken Caesar wrap!!! Too good! the Omelettes & chicken Greek salads are also great!

Glad someone moved into this spot that serves breakfast, the food is ok but a bit pricy on the weekends, we like places that have specials and they are not big on them, but overall the place is fine.

Instead of having an owner (Louie) yelling at customers and staff, waitresses are picking up the slack. It was «uncomfortable».

Very typical family restaurant/​coney island menu. The service, cleanliness and quality of the food is however, not typical — it is far above average for this type of restaurant. I went for lunch a few days after they opened. Being in restaurant operations for the past 13 years myself, I was impressed at how well the front-​of-​the-​house worked together. They also had great attitudes and acted as true «brand ambassadors» by speaking highly about the food and the ownership. By the way, try one of the grinders. Great Job!

I moved Sparta up to 5 stars as they continue to be consistently good at providing fresh food at an un-​beatable value.
