Wait. $ 3.24 for a single cheeseburger with ketchup, mustard and pickles? Like, for real? like. As in FOURDOLLARS. think about how much a burger costs normally. For a cheeseburger that has the appearance and texture of being microwaved? Truckee Tax is what that’s called; the tax for locals living in the mountains.

Seriously, I usually stop here when I go through Truckee. Today it took 4 times longer to get Truckee, there was no line, we ordered, paid and they didn’t put our order in so we wait. We keep waiting… pretty soon my wife goes up to ask and they don’t even have our order in. They apologized and gave us a refund.

Have been going here for years. Very consistent ice cream. Smooth, creamy, flavorful, cold, with the curl on the top! The many flavors of the blizzards gives even the toughest customer somethings g to choose from. Drive through is always busy but the wait is not long. Ask for extra napkins because the small one that is wrapped around the cone is never enough. Ask for a puppy cup for your dogs. It is free! Dogs know it is coming as you see the heads sticking out the windows.

When I come to Donner Pass rd in Truckee I like to go to DQ. The ice cream is great especially considering the price, the food is good for fast food and the staff is very friendly. They have a lunch special for $ 5 that has several options and includes fries soda and a sundae. $ 1 more for a Blizzard, seriously when in the mountains you’ve gotta have a blizzard. They also deliver to your table so you don’t have to stand waiting. Have your icecream first while you’re waiting, prefect for the Big Kid in you and your little ones. Thumbs up!

How long does it take to make two hot dogs? This is not a trick question. If you go here, plan on waiting 20 minutes or longer. We stopped at about 1PM for a quick bite. While I went to the Mexican BBQ place a few doors down, got my food(very good), and nearly finished it, my husband ordered two hot dogs and a small drink. They gave him the drink(in two very small cups — what’s up with that?) and twenty minutes later handed him the hot dogs. This place needs some help.

DQ open late even on a holiday. The place was pretty clean, employees friendly and the ice cream desserts tasty.(We didn’t have any food just desserts.) This DQ has a lot of seating inside and a busy drive thru. It is easy in and off the highway and has plenty of parking. The crew cut the drive thru line down well. I think ordering inside is better though. The employees took care of customers and still had social time with each other. Fun stop. We would return.

So I walked into Dairy Queen expecting to be indulged in creamy delights. As I scan the menu I see that they have orange Julius drinks and I though I would get one. I order the original orange one thinking it was gonna be amazing but instead it taste like water downed sugar orange juice. It truly taste like ass. I’m extremely disappointed and I think they need to stop making me these drinks, thank you.

Good pit stop on the way to reno. However, the employees were arguing really loudly in the back which was kind of awkward.

It was 10:30am and I was craving a DQ cone as we were driving from Colorado back home to the Bay Area. This place was open, although just barely, and within 2 minutes I was back in the car with my medium cone. I was probably the first customer of the day(no one was in there) and the«don’t give a s**t» attitude I received from the staff was a bit surprising. With that said, it didn’t really impact me. In fact, I found it kind of amusing. In the end all that matters is that I had my cone. Boom.

Wow! Staying in truckee til September and very surprised by high prices for eateries here and truly sometimes not very good. I was so happy to find this DQ, the burgers we got plus onion rings were divine. Fresh lettuce, tomatoes and onions, can’t get any better than that. Best price and got our dinner in less than 5 minutes. Give it a go, damn nice kids working there…, surprise. Highly recommended.

We did go back and didnt see or at least recognize the one girl. Everyone there was polite, I understand it is under new management, so maybe that was the change. The food was always good and everyone working there was polite. We will definitely be back now.

This place rocks! I love the staff. They are always so friendly and kind and they make a mean burger! But my all-time favorite has to be the peanut butter bash! When in Tahoe or Truckee be sure to come by for a good ol Dairy Queen experience!

This is seriously one of the best places ever! Customer service is top notch and everyone there is super super kind! One of the workers there, Olave, is probably the kindest person there. She’s always smiling and is quite artistic with the cake decorating! The manager helped and made sure the order was correct and was even there when we picked it up! He checked the birthday cake one last time before giving it over to us. The best part was… everyone at the party LOVED the cake! We should have ordered more than just one! Thanks so much for being so awesome guys!

My family always comes up to Lake Tahoe for the summer and we usually come to this DQ for ice cream and snacks. It’s always been just blah. I mean, it’s just a fast food place. what do you expect?. However, we did notice a dramatic change in the store this summer compared to last year. People greet you when you come in, deliver your food to the table, and flip the blizzard up-side down… WHAT??? Their customer service is really outstanding and everyone there is so nice and happy. It was a good experience over all. So, I came with a few friends and it was SLAMMED because it was the 4th of July weekend. You could see the employees running around full speed to make sure the food was out and everything was made promptly. Everyone was really nice despite the fact that it was soo full of people. I ordered some chicken strips and a blizzard. A handsome guy named Bryan delivered my food to our table. He asked me if I need something else and I said«ranch», but i really should have said«your number». Maybe next time! All jokes aside, the service and food was great! Will be back soon :)

New owner! Great service… good food! This is a must for my family during summertime. DQs frozen treats are the best!

I am 9 months pregnant and all I want is a blizzard. We checked the hours on the website for the truckee DQ and they very clearly stated that they close at 10pm. We got there at 945pm and they were CLOSED. Workers were cleaning up. No one would look at us when we were looking in the window. How are people supposed to know correct hours if the website lies? I’m seriously pissed. My family vacations in Donner and we visit this DQ often but I am not impressed.

I have two friends, one from Canada and one from Greece who one day decided to trek up to Truckee on a whim in November. «How cold could CA be?» they thought? They get to the Sierras and then realize, man it’s getting kind of cold. They drive around the town. They say hey lets go through the drive through and get some food before things close. As they do through the drive through, my friends window lowers and gets stuck in the down position. Then it starts to snow. After DQ they have to basically tape up the window with newspaper and wait the next day for a mechanic. Ouch. So as Im going through this drive through I think of that story, but luckily for us, the window doesnt stick, I have snowboard clothing and a garage even if weird shit like that were to happen. And I got to enjoy my strawberry-kiwi arctic somethingrather with peace of mind.

Dairy Queen is just fast food. So as far as fast food goes, this was fine. But I have to take away a couple of starts for a horrible Orange Julius drink. Even my kids did not drink it. It «tasted like water». No orange, flavor, no crème flavor, nothing. The bad Orange Julius, stuck with us on this trip, so we didn’t go back even when we wanted hamburgers later that same day.

Review for drive-through only since this DQ is convienently located just off the exit from a major highway. There is NOTHING like a Dairy Queen Blizzard with crushed Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in it to cool you off after a hot, long drive on I-80 from the Bay area. It’s worth having a few moments of painful brain freeze agony to feel that spoonful of sugary sweet ice cream slide blissfully down your parched throat. There really is nothing else to say.
