Pizza on the Hill

We have been here several times this week and it exceeded our expectations! The kids were entertained, the food and service was great! If you are in the area, it’s definitely worth it!

We have come here a bunch of times in the last week and the service and food have been excellent. It is kid friendly but the atmosphere is still adult. Low key and easy.
Salad bar! Great BBQ chicken pizza! Great wings. Kids room!!!

Great friendly service and the food was good. Ordered kitchen sink pizza and it was perfect with fresh ingredients. Pasta primavera was made with fresh veggies. Place was kid friendly.

Mozzarella sticks. Yum! And not frozen. Get the ‘Kitchen Sink’ pizza (–spinach personal pref) it was great! Friendly and fast food. Not sure about the ‘salad bar’ and the lighting needs dimming — could be more warm and cozy. If this place had a fire place maybe more tvs would be great for after the slopes.

Decent pizza. Great for picnics during bingo or concerts. Sometimes there are specials for Tahoe Donner residents.

My review really depends on what you are looking to get out of your experience here. Are you looking for yummy pizza and convenience? 1 star.
Are you a parent of children looking for a place to grab a beer while on vacation while entertaining your kids? 5 stars.
We went for a mix of both. I was happy to have my kids burn some energy at the play structure and have a beer in the beautiful weather. Pizza was so gross, it was for sure grabbed out of the freezer when we ordered, and cost a small fortune for what it was! So annoying. Also, we stopped by around 2pm to find out they didn’t open till 5pm!
I’d go back for a beer outside but won’t waste money on anything else.

Can’t say this was the best pizza I have ever had but it certainly wasn’t the worst. Perfect place for what it is. Convenient, always a table, decent pizza, out door tables with a play ground for the kids. All good!

A beautiful place to relax and drink beer and eat pizza. Pizza has an average taste. Pizza Hit still my favorite. Service was efficient with really nice employees. They even offered a replacement pizza when it spilled on table when it was our fault. Not a full bar but it’s half way there.

New to the area, I had no idea this place existed… Wish I would’ve found it sooner! Staff is super friendly (I love that) and it’s in a great location for those around Tahoe Donner. Nice and casual atmosphere with great service. I sat at the bar and got the Caesar salad and pizza to go. Salad was great, fresh and pizza was a hit. I heart supporting local business and I’ll be back for sure! Thank you Pizza on the Hill!

Great pizza. Great service. Great atmosphere. This place is close to our ski cabin and they don’t disappoint.

Ok, I’m going nuts and giving this place 5 stars. The pizza was pretty good but where the place really shinned was it’s kids /​dad friendly options. There is an indoor sound proof playroom. Outside is a sweet little playground and you can order pitchers of beer and kick back while the kids play. For anyone with small kids this lunch time destination is great.
The service in our experience was great.
For the record we were there for lunch.

Not the best food but a fun affordable place to go with friends and family. The service is slow but they are really nice!

My review is gone. Bad pizza and worst service stick to best pies. Don’t waste your money

I usually order a pizza to go. Always been ready in 15 – 20 minutes. Great staff — great pizza. This operation is part of the Tahoe Donner Association. Never had any but the salad bar looks good. Wish they had large bottles of soda.

I will give them 3 stars because of the good atmosphere during the warmer months with outdoor seating, picnic benches, and a play area for kids right there. The pizza isn’t bad and the price is right (which says a lot for prices in the Truckee area).
The service, on the other hand, is extremely slow. It took over an hour to get our food delivered, and we had 4 young kids with us. The waitress kept saying that there were a lot of people in front of us and that they didn’t want to make anyone upset. Yeah, right. The table right next to us arrived 30 minutes after us and they received their food before us).
I left a comment card and the manager called me about 3 weeks later to leave a message (no sense of urgency). All he could say was, yeah, it was busy. We’ve never experienced a crowd like that.“
And by the way, management. If something is going to take an hour, let the customer know before hand so that they have the option to go somewhere else. And if you don’t and it’s going to take an hour, comp them a pitcher of soda or something. I know margins are tight with restaurants these days… but a little customer service goes a long way. It keeps them coming back, especially if they are local and like to frequent your establishment when kids and guest from out of town.

We enjoy coming for the outdoor atmosphere. That’s about it. The service is SLOW, yet friendly. They changed the menu and got rid of the best thing on it, nachos. From now on we’ll probably bring our own food and enjoy the atmosphere, which is so disappointing because the location is great and I love to go out, but for the amount of time it takes to get served we could drive much further and still get served faster and get better quality. I hope they get it together or call Restaurant Impossible to fix there problems.

What a bizarre place! We visited this restaurant since it was close to where we were staying and they had posted great bar specials. When we made it inside we were very surprised.
We found the restaurant– it is in the back of the building– and settled into what felt like a city council chamber, which was next door to the bar. There we looked over the menu while watching the football game on the overhead projector. We went to the bar, ordered some pizza and wings, and brought our beers back to our little private theatre. They had some good specials on beers and I was enjoying the Pacifico on tap.
The service was outstanding. The barkeeper and the manager checked in on us every 15 minutes or so and made sure we were taken care of. I am giving it three stars because of these great people.
The food was bad. The pizza, although fresh, had really awful (spaghetti) sauce and was undercooked in some parts and overcooked in others. The hot wings were black in color and were served barely warm, with the skin still slimy. You’ve been warned!
I would maybe go back for a beer or two since the service was so good.

Pizza isn’t very good, but 1 thing I thought was good was Potato Skins. So if you go here I don’t recommend pizza.

One time is enough for eating food there but I’d go back for drinks outside by the fire pits and couches.

My husband brought home food from here. They were closing up but still made us what we wanted. Very nice.
He ordered the meat pie — a pizza topped with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms. I tried a piece — pretty tasty.
I didn’t want pizza — I was craving meat! They had lime marinated tri-​tip. This was really good. The dinner plate came with beans, rice, tortillas and guacamole. I only had a couple bites of the beans and rice but they were good. But the tri-​tip, warm tortillas and guacamole was very delicious. I would order it again anytime.
It’s kinda pricey I suppose but it is very convenient so a good last minute dinner decision place! And there are plenty of items on the menu that I would try :)
