I really wanted to like this place! I thought it might be great place to come back for BBQ! We ordered: 1. 10 Pc Wings Platter that came with cornbread and a side — They forgot the side(The Java Rice) — Wings were not crispy — Their Atomic was much like a Medium level, anywhere else(but Heat level is subjective) 2. Shrimp Gumbo & Sausage — It was SALTY.(and That’s NOT subjective.) — It sat on top of mountains of soggy rice — And only came with 3 shrimps — And, again, just an unreasonable amount of salt The portions were huge but I would have traded all of that for a nicely sized and well done meal. My only consolation is that I spent just $ 13.29 on the meal because I bought the Unilocal deal. The $ 3.00 was a tip because I saw that there was just 1 guy in the kitchen and 1 taking customer orders. I hope this review is taken into consideration by the chef/kitchen.

It’s closed guys. Just went there today, they went out of business. I’ve only been there a few times, but I enjoyed their food. RIP

Tasty enough food but a bit expensive and they don’t have Mac and cheese on the menu! When I see some of the other stuff they have instead I have to wonder why. Check Unilocal(as you obviously are) for discount deals. I bought a voucher for $ 20(which you can easily spend on 1 – 2 people) for $ 10 on Unilocal so I saved half! I had fish and chips(so-so but by the last one I was over the fry). My son had the cheesesteak and garlic fries(tasty but a bit too much garlic on the garlic fries… I’m pretty sure they were expecting a flock of vampires to attack at any give moment and were merely looking out for my son so I appreciate that). My friend had the ribs… smackin!

Came here hoping to get the fries and drink Unilocal deal but someone stole a device that was needed to process that request. As disappointing as that was, I was not disappointed with the food. I had the 6 pcs. BBQ Chicken Platter which came with my choice of 2 Java Rice sides and Cornbread. The chicken was moist and grilled just right and BBQ sauce was sweet and tangy, the java rice was very tasty with just enough spice and the cornbread was sweet. I was very impressed how well the Java Rice went with the BBQ Chicken. All that for about $ 10.00, also, the staff were pretty nice too.

Use your certificate! For a family of 2.5 you will easily spend over $ 30! We tried Rustler’s for the second time and I’m convinced that this spot is pretty good! Hubby always orders the rib platters(around $ 14) with corn bread and a choice of 1 or 2 sides depending on which platter you choose. They have bbq pork spare ribs, beef ribs and bbq chicken. On our first visit I ordered the garlic shrimp noodles. Tasty… But there was a TON of butter! I was afraid that my arteries would get clogged up. Very generous portion of noodles with butter some shrimp and parmesan cheese. I ordered 1 pound of shrimp(shell on) in the Cajun sauce with a side of rice. Currently $ 13.99 market price. I loved the sauce and the shrimp was fresh! I was disappointed only because it did not look like a pound of shrimp! Kinda skimpy. But maybe I’m just so used to The Boiling Crab and nothing tops BC! I’d rather drive to Sac town to have BC. Probably won’t order the shrimp again. But I will definitely stop by again to try the«Dungeness Fries»!

If I had a choice for no stars that would be it. Last time we are here it had just opened and it wasn’t good at all. But, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We just got our food home… horrible! Ordered roast beef French dip, it was so dry it could have passed as beef jerky! Our rib dinner was just as dry. Had the jambalaya and the rice wasn’t cooked and the shrimp was chewy. There was sausage in it that didn’t look like sausage. For sides we had cornbread, onion rings and French fries. Cornbread hard and the onion rings over cooked. Fries were ok. So it appears I payed $ 60 for decent French fries. Never ever again will we come back. Sucked!!!

I’ve only been here a few times and i’m already sold. Both times the corn bread was a bit DRY but the ribs were delicious, the java rice good, and the bbq beans just as good. I will be back to try more from the menu!

I Love this place. I always get there shrimp gumbo and my husband always gets this 3 meat plate that one of the cooks suggested he get and he gets the same thing every time we go. My daughter gets a grilled cheese sandwich which I’m totally against having a child order something simple that I can make at home when I saw her grilled cheese I wanted one myself. Its a small little place a little hidden and sometimes there short staff and cant get to all the plates still out on the empty tables on a busy night but food wise I love them. And every time my child see’s the cooks around town she recognizes them as the Rustler’s dudes and there always friendly and great her.

Nasty restroom. When even the door knob is dirty, think twice about eating the food. I think they need a visit from the health inspectors. Made me wonder if they ever clean the kitchen. All tables needed wiping. Who clears a table and don’t wipe it. They need to hire some competent people to clean and manage this restaurant. If I had went to the restroom before the meal, I would have walked out. The fish and chips wasn’t good… more greasy batter than fish. The ribs were ok but could use some decent barbecue sauce and less char.

I purchased a Unilocal deal upon checking this place out. I ordered the BBQ burger and crab fries to share with my partner. I also tried out their cornbread. While eating my crab fries I found myself biting into little pieces of what I can only guess to be the shell of the crab. It took me by surprise. They were good, regardless. You just have to watch out for the pieces of shell! The burger was REALLY good. My burger did not come with fries, which was kind of surprising because the burger itself was around $ 9.00 The worst part of my visit was the dang cornbread. It was dry, flavorless and really bad. I found bits and pieces of uncooked flour/mix inside of the cornbread. :( Besides the darn cornbread, everything was good. I would probably go back, but only with a Unilocal/Groupon deal because the place is pricey, IMO.

The barbeque entrees are amazingly delicious! Their barbeque blend has a sweet, sour, and tangy smoked flavor that my family can never get tired of. We also tried their carne asada and garlic noodles with shrimp. Both scrumptious and satisfying. The sides of fries and baked beans are good too. Cornbread could be moister. The dining area could use a bit updating and warming up. My reviews are primarily for their signature food. So, if you have a hankering for barbecued ribs or chicken and don’t want to drive to downtown Vallejo all the way to Gracie’s, this local Vallejo joint is a fine alternative.

Good Asian flavor incorporated into American bbq. Food is a bit greasy, but not too bad. Order the fish and chips… But bring your own fresh lemon. Skip the dry corn bread.

I been to rustlers once when they fist opened a few years back and the menu was very limited. I ordered the wings extra extra hot and it was good. Today was my second time going after so long and the menu now has more variety and is under new management. I ordered the roast beef sandwich which was ok. Big portion for the price but I’ve had better. The dip was really good and tasteful though. The staff was friendly and has good customer service. I would come back I wanna try the ribs, crab and garlic noodles! Oh and I also like how hey have good deals on their lunch specials

1. This small restaurant is in the middle of a huge busy shopping center so finding a parking spot wasnt an issue. 2. You seat yourself, but finding one can be challenging especially if youre with a big group. I’m going to be honest. At first I wanted to pull my hair out because the wait in line was super long. Until I realized that they only had one person cooking the food. It was very busy that day(It was a Sunday afternoon) and I noticed the cook going half crazy near the grill. I ordered the $ 5.99 bbq chicken lunch combo and cornbread. After waiting 45 minutes for my food to be served, the food made the wait so worth it. The bbq was yummy(tasted like it was fresh off charcoal grill) and the cornbread was one of the best I’ve ever eaten! The only thing I question is the cleanliness. The soda fountain wasnt drained out and it looked so dirty I nearly lost my appetite after seeing hair, crumbs, and unknown creatures lol. Gross! I will definitely come back for the cornbread and chicken. But I will take it TOGO. Words of wisdom: Call ahead and order your food or suffer the consequences and wait an hour with the creatures in the soda fountain!

We decided on Rustlers last minute and I should’ve known from my past experiences that the way to go is calling your order in. There was a wait, and a few orders before ours. We ordered the Caveman plate, 3 piece BBQ chicken plate and carne asada fries. Since they were out of the spare rib that comes with the caveman plate, it was substituted with a ½ rack of baby back ribs. Both ribs and chicken were flavorful. The fries were just ok though. The cornbread recipe needs to be tweaked though — it was really dry and needed flavor. No ice in the soda machine, a few tables were dirty, no napkins in the dispenser, salt & pepper shakers were running really low… but all that means is that they’ve been too busy to take care of those things. Maybe they need an extra person to help out on the weekends?

I should feel ashamed for being a foodie and loving this place, but I don’t! It was great! The service, friendly staff, and food. Got shrimp gumbo, onion rings, and hot link lunch plate. Total was less than $ 20!

Generous portions, ribs and meat items are seasoned well. Not fall off the bone type BBQ, but very decent. Good lunch time deals.

On a Friday night, we weren’t in the mood of dining out but wanted take-out. We had BBQ on our minds and Rustler’s was the ideal place to try something new. As we entered, the open kitchen immediately caught my attention. This is a plus in my opinion. You have a clear view on what they are cooking back there. We ordered ribs, wings(buffalo and BBQ), java rice, mashed potatoes with gravy, onion rings, and corn bread. There was nothing I wasn’t pleased with. All were excellent. All was off the hook. The ribs perfect. The wings perfect. All I can say is perfect, perfect, perfect. Customer service was prompt and kind. Although we didn’t dine in, the dining area is kept clean. I enjoyed watching sports news while I waited for my order. I’d recommend this joint to anyone who want good BBQ with no-frills and straight to the point of great food.
