I’m not family nor am I being paid to write this. I am a former New Yorker and I have a great memory. The first time I was here I wasn’t impressed. It’s been a long time but I decided to return and give it a second go. So… I say this about them. Ultra friendly server, abundance of food(but I ate all of it). True NY bagel, delicious eggs and home fries. Two of us eating breakfast and coffee, get this $ 13.67. Where in 2016 can you eat for less than $ 20 like that. VI breakfast was $ 33 for 2. Love, love, love this place. See you soon and open one in Riverview please.

We’re from New York, and we had such high hopes! Not for haute cuisine, as this place is clearly a ‘Diner,’ and serves Diner food, but maybe something a little like our old home… nope. Interior had some ‘New York Minutes,’ but the staff was wearing sports jerseys from every team not… New York. On a scale of 1 – 10 for DINER food, this was a 6 — adequate but not spectacular — very little flavor. Service was about a 3, with timing waaaaaay off. Won’t go here again. If I want a reminder of New York, I’ll go see the Yankees train. –NY

The New York Diner has never disappointed us for breakfast or lunch. The staff is down to earth and great. The food is amazing. It is always hot and fresh. You can always tell the good ones by looking at the line when church gets out and The New York DIner has a long one that seems to go quick as well. The owner is always around and she makes sure the quality is perfect.

How is this place not like Waffle House? It’s not open 24 hours. The décor is fun and very colorful. Outside seating is available. Food options are similar, and folks are friendly. Excellent service for me while eating outside. But here’s the thing.. . Grits need salting; Needs to be cooked in with the water or they are hopeless forever after. Not too much impressed with rest of meal, either. Ohhhh… So sad to say, I doubt I would return.

Good breakfast, great price for real simple breakfast. All natural, as my taste buds informed me. Tried grits for the first time. It was not bad.

This was the first place I’ve ever been that served breakfast, and lunch throughout the whole time their open. The food is excellent and you will not leave hungry. If you do then it’s your own fault. The food is all comfort food. If you want something special and they can do; they will. The staff are great people. They treat you like they’ve known you for a lifetime. When you become a regular and you will. There is no doubt about that. When you get the chance, you have to go. Try anything on the menu, it is all delicious. I recommend the poor man’s breakfast or the meatloaf be it on a sandwich or as the meal.

First time coming here, local in Valrico. Food was good, service was quick. Nothing special that you couldn’t get at any other mom and pop. Only complaint were the pancakes were literally tough to cut and chew. All & all we would come back again, just wouldn’t order any pancakes.

It’s a little spot in the Valrico neighborhood in no way does it compare to diners in New York. Basic toast and eggs nothing spectacular, I could cook and make everything on the menu.

This diner is in an old Waffle House building and is decorated to look like a NY style diner. It’s clean enough and the service is good. We had breakfast and had to wait a long time for our food but the food was great. The prices are good as are the portions. Will definitely come back again!

Your typical American Diner. Neat little place with an older crowd. Home cooked meals to the core. Don’t expect frills or bells and whistles but do expect to sit down to a robust portion of your favorite breakfast or overstuffed sandwich with the pure flavors that bring you back to your youth. If you’re looking for true Americana fare and attentive wait staff who are friendly and know how to please customers, you’ve found your match in this sweet little diner.

I grew up in Philly and miss all of our diners. This place is the closest to diners up home… definitely worth the hard parking and wait. We love it here!

This is a middling restaurant — kind of dirty, a little greasy, sort of tasty, and reasonably priced. I’ll eat here again but my wife will not go near the place. The wait staff is about as friendly as you’d expect in a place nabbed after NY, which is to say not very.

I would not come back here at all, the service was good, the only reason I’m giving this place the stars I’ve gave it, the place smells like a fried chicken joint! And the food was tasteless and burnt. I’ve dined at many Diners all over… And this place is terrible. Don’t give me that, this is southern style cookin’.

I’m a New Yorker, and my mother, who has transplanted from NYC, lives here in Brandon. THISISTHECLOSESTTHINGTOANNYCDINER, BUTBETTER. the service is just as quick as an NYC spot, but much more polite :). the food is made quickly and comes out piping hot. the flavors are excellent. the same staff members have been working here since I’ve been coming down to visit my mom. do yourself a favor and come here for breakfast OFTEN.

Best breakfast spot and for the best price. Husband and I take the kids here on Sunday mornings and it is so good. I normally get a breakfast sandwich, bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant. Sooo good. Not a huge fan of their pancakes, though, tried my kids and didn’t think they were all that good. kind of dense. Sunday mornings though, they are packed! Be prepared to wait.

My family has only eating here about 5 times and the food entrees we decided on ordering was delicious. I always order the Mozzarella sticks they are great to eat when your not that hungry for a big lunch or dinner. They offer soft drinks, coffee and tea also they offer outdoor seating if you choose to sit outside and enjoy the noise of the traffic on Highway 60. The staff from the waitresses are always nice and friendly when they welcome you to the Restaurant with a simple Hello or Hi welcome to the Diner. There isn’t much places for breakfast type places if you want to sit down and actual enjoy eating your delicious entrée with out seeing children running round or people talking loudly across tables. Before New York Diner moved in to this business setting it was a Waffle House before it was closed for a reason I do not know I guess it never had much business in the area because they had to deal with Burger King, Hardee’s & McDonald’s down the road. If your looking for a nice breakfast, lunch or dinner spot come here but keep in mind the Diner closes early in the afternoon.
