So I would love to give them a better review because the food is actually really great as well as they are super friendly, but the problem is that there must be some cleanliness issues or they cut all the meat on the same boards. I am extremely sensitive to pork products as in I become violently ill when I ingest even small amounts of pork or even smell it. This is the second time this has happened here but I thought it may have been a fluke so I gave them another chance. Needless to say I won’t return. I ordered the steak nachos with refried beans and a steak taco. Everything was delicious going down… The other direction not so much. The previous time I did call and let them know I got sick this time I didn’t bother because I wont return and by reviewing the restaurant any non pork eaters will be warned that if you eat here you are taking a MAJOR risk of becoming ill. It took about 20 minutes before I got sick both times. Hopefully the management will change how the food is prepped because I can’t be the only person with this issue. They do give a military discount though.

Great food. Very consistent. Friendly staff. Although my family likes Chipotle, it’s nice to stop by every now and then and grab some great Chicken Chimichangas. The artwork is interesting and I prefer the ambience to the more«sterile» Chipotle. They used to have another location closer to my house, but this isn’t too far off 264.

This place was good. It’s not a «real» Mexican food place, but it wasn’t bad. They definitely give you good size portions. Good variety of hot sauces on a hot sauce bar. The staff was friendly. I had the chicken enchiladas. I put green sauce on one and red sauce on the other.(Comes with two). My only complaint would be that they need to put more sauce on the enchiladas but it was still delicious. I just know for next time to request it. My friend had the carne asada Norrito bowl. She said everything tasted fresh. If you want quick«Mexican» I would recommend this place.

Customer Service: 4 Value: 2 Food Quality: 3 I hit these guys up just before a lunch rush on a Wednesday. The dining area had 1 lady who was cleaning, restocking the sauce bar, and bringing our food to us from the kitchen. To call this food a bit«overpriced» is being nice. 2 lunch plates here ran me just under $ 20. Only one of the entrees I got was a «meal» which was a very small cup of rice, and another small cup of beans. The burrito I got was just over $ 7 and accompanying it was generic corn tortilla chips. The ONLY thing that I can say positive about this place, is their«sauce bar». They have allot of different sauces that you can use to make their food taste many different ways. Now they label themselves as a Tex-Mex joint, however I’ve never been to a Tex-Mex joint that has bland tasting food that you would actually need a various sauces to flavor your food with. Now by no means am I a Geography Major, but Tijuana is over on the border in California not Texas… So how is «Tijuana Flats» a Tex-Mex joint? Maybe a Mexi-Cali joint, but this place is a big false advertisement for Tex-Mex food. I can’t recommend this place to anyone. If you do find yourself going here to eat, go ahead and get an entrée that allows you to put some sauce on it, take a bite, try another flavor of sauce, and repeat… Honestly, the Sauce Bar is the only thing this fast food place has going for it.

Still love this place. I have constant cravings for Tijuana. Wish they were at Little Creek. But I also like the wait staff there. When I went months back with just me my kids, I got a bad migraine on the way there which cause me to get sick. But the manager was so sweet and kindly helped me out and helped me keep the kids happy. The ladies are always just layer back and polite. :-)

Very great staff. They really try to make sure you’re taken care of. However the food just wasn’t great for me or any of my friends. Very bland to the taste and the sauce on my friends burrito was not good at all. Would I go back here? Most likely not.

Definitely not as great as expected. The tacos were made with a very small amount of meat, and the rice and bean portions given were sparse. Needless to say, we left(still) hungry and disappointed.

This should really be more like 2.5 stars. The good: Friendly, attentive staff. Broad menu(compared to Chipotle, Qdoba, Moes). Clean restaurant with cheeky décor. The Meh: the food. The flavor was lacking. Maybe it’s intentional and they want you to try their sauces, or maybe it’s just bland. It didn’t excite me at all. Not enough to return.

Great casual Tex-Mex. The hot sauce bar caters to every need from sweet to searing and they rotate often for great choice. The food is fresh and made to order and they have some of the best tacos around. They have bar drinks, tap beer and bottles. recently they have started a local brewery night(can’t remember which night). Great for kids and adult groups looking for a great place for beer and tacos. We have been regulars for a couple years and never disappointed.

Enjoy coming here! The food is good and they have many options. I would suggest flautas. They are delicious. They have a great hot sauce bar area with tons of options. And funny names. Definitely don’t let your kids read it lol. But this place has a good vibe and a nice place to eat with your friends. Check it out!

I like this place. Came here on a Tuesday and got the special, two tacos, chips, and a drink combo for like $ 6. What a steal! The place also offers sauces for sale, and they also have a hot sauce station where you can enjoy the sauces they offer with your meal. The tacos were ok, not disappointing at all, and the chips were good too. The service was good, nice set up, I like the way the restaurant is decorated, and the staff was very attentive. Nice place!

My husband and I are from Orlando, and we used to regularly visit Tijuana Flats. Not just one, but many locations, depending on where we were at the time. The quality was consistent; the food was fresh and delicious and we always knew what to expect. I have been to this location a few times over the last few years. Every time, it has fallen short of my experiences at the locations in Florida. I went today, and it was the worst experience yet. The staff were prompt and friendly and that is the only reason I even gave it two stars. The food… Where to start? My favorite menu item was always the nachos. I liked that everything was fresh and the ingredients were not just scooped in clumps into the basket. That was not what I got today. I ordered beef and bean nachos; there was almost NO meat on them at all. Some beans; they were even a little stingy with those. The lettuce was pretty wilted and the tomatoes did not seem remotely close to fresh. There was a big clump of guac that had a very overwhelming onion flavor. There was no sour cream; I asked for some and was brought a soufflé cup with about a tablespoon of it inside. The fresh jalapeños that were my favorite part of the nachos were gone completely. The chips and queso were okay but nothing to write home about. «The second slapping» hot sauce is still good. I probably won’t come back to this location. I hope that the poor quality is just this location and is not an indication that Tijuana Flats has«sold out» and dropped the quality of their food to junk. I suppose I’ll find out next time I go back to Florida.

I’ve always wanted to try this place out. For years… It’s in a great location. Easily found while driving down Virginia Beach Blvd. Nice setup. Good ambiance. Friendly staff. Everyone was attentive. I ordered two steak tacos. One hard. One soft. Everything tasted good. My issue was the steak ratio to the size of the taco. There were a few times my bites had no steak. Boo. They have quite the sauce selection. Happy faces indicate something sweet. A straight face was somewhat spicy. And go for the smushed face and you’ll be making that face in eight hours if you have enough a serving. Decent spot and I’ll eventually go back.

Meh… it was okay. I had been to the old location off of Laskin years ago & remembered thinking the same thing. Nothing great. My boyfriend had received a gift card here at Christmas so we decided to use it for lunch this past weekend. It was our«cheat day» from our diet so it was anything goes style ordering. We shared an order of queso & chips. The queso was tasty. I ordered the fish tacos & they were pretty sad. Very rubbery & small lil pieces. The pico de gallo that they serve is LOADED with tiny pieces of jalapenos. If you don’t like all of that spice like me remember to order it without. The«soft» flour shell that I ordered tasted like paper. My boyfriend ordered the blackened chicken & black bean burrito. He said it was just okay. Pros are that you can order beer & their hot sauce bar had some tasty, mild sauces. I doubt I’ll ever go back though, unless we get another gift card ;-)
