It’s alright. the menu on Unilocal is way out of date – check the photos of menus instead. I agree that the meat is not typical – or proper – cheesesteak meat. the menu says it’s sirloin, it’s supposed to be ribeye for a cheesesteak. however, it wasn’t bad. i tried the mushroom, the italian, and the barbeque and none were objectionable. I think the mushroom was the best of the bunch. i just wanted a real cheesesteak and i guess you can’t get those in visalia.(if someone knows where you can around here and want’s to prove me wrong, i’d be delighted to hear about it!)

I consider myself somewhat of a Cheesesteak afficionado, having eaten what seems like a cheesesteak each week for the past 20 years. Just returned from Pennsylvania the home of the Cheesesteak and had some very good ones there. Ok, on to Philly’s. The good: small place located on a street with free parking. The inside has character and the restrooms were clean. Close to the freeway and centrally located, fast service and a few small tables inside. The not so good: The food. No fryer so no fries or tater tots… or onion rings. I ordered as a side potato salad and for $ 2.50 I got the smallest container, smaller than the container from Safeway in the deli department for .99 cents that literally was gone with two small forkfuls. Not much of a value there. The cheesesteak had a a good roll, the bread was good, but the meat and cheese had an odd sweet flavor to it, like if the onions were too sweet or something else I couldn’t put my finger on. Service, not the friendliest considering the place was empty when I arrived, thought I see a smile, did not. I probably would not return based upon the food selection and taste.

Worst food ever, period! Poor attempt at making a cheese steak, sandwiches do not taste fresh at all. Very disgusting, very disappointed, will never go back.

Disappointing. This place used to be really good. It must have changed hands over the years. Philly sandwich was ok, not much flavor at all. The potato salad was runny and had pickle skins(?) in it. It wasn’t good at all. The guy that took my order never smiled. If you’re not happy to take an order, why would anyone be happy to eat there? Won’t go back.

Quality has gone way down. I used to love this place, but it is no longer the same. What a shame.

I’m sorry but this place has gone down in quality. I ordered the mushroom Swiss. My sandwich was dripping in grease, barely any mushroom or Swiss. And we’ll full of onions, 2 little bell peppers. My side salad was disgusting. Old browning lettuce. The establishment itself needs work. HOTHOTHOT! Very uncomfortable to dine in. 2 stars for their balsamic sauce.

Went for the first time. Cheesesteak was pretty good. Although it was Very fast. Which made me kinda question what’s really going on. Hahaa. It was a super hot day :(and it was pretty warm in there … Don’t think I’d go back unless it’s for take out or in the winter!

Disgusting, the meat was full of fat and not authentic at all, I have been to numerous Philly restaurants and never had a place serve a Philly with thick pieces of sirloin. The whole sand which was nasty the meats, including my wife and sons chicken all tasted the same. It was as though the grill is not scraped and cleaned between meats, and it all blended together. The bread was soggy, and not toasted like most I have been too. Even the cheese couldn’t camouflage the overall nastiness. Also most items have been removed from the original menu like cheese fries etc. This place used to be authentic and good when I was a kid about 10 – 15 years ago, I don’t know if ownership has changed but its done a complete 360. It made my pregnant wife sick it was so gross. Even the place in the mall is better than this, wish I could get my 30 back I could make a better Philly at home.

Pretty exquisite. Delicious chicken cheese steak. Small business with big taste. Service is good, and the people are humble and work hard. The meal is one of the best in town. If you’re a Visalia native and haven’t had it yet, definitely go in.

Used to come here back in the day, I have yo say quality is down. The cheese steak was flavorless, and the soup they tried to pass off as chili was disappointing. Unfortunate since I used brag about how awesome this place was.

Not what I was expecting, not much flavor, my bread was cold and hardly had any meat in my sandwich. A little pricey for the quality, flavor and amount. Won’t be going back.

Visiting Visalia for a conference. Happened upon this place. Really like Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches. The sandwich was good. Nice flavor. The standout for me was the chili. Had it as a side with the sandwich and took a large container back to the hotel for dinner. Very good.

Legit. Fantastic food and a great outdoor seating area. Ask for spicy you won’t regret it.

I don’t know if I got a fluke, but my sandwich tasted more weird Teriyaki than Philly Cheese Steak. I’m disappointed as I got my hopes up since people seemed to rave about this place.

I stopped going here because one day I ordered a sandwich and they pulled cooked meat out of the fridge and threw it on the grill. My veggies were totally cooked down to something that didn’t taste like a fresh mushroom or pepper. How hard is it to make a fresh sandwich as its ordered? I would go back here every week if they cook me a fresh sammich! Please let me know when they do so I can go try it out.

Having been to Philadelphia and actually eaten a philly cheese steak at Jim’s on South Street(prob most famous philly cheeseteak place), I can say that the philly cheesesteak at Philly’s in Visalia is excellent. We found this place on a whim, as we drove to a friend’s wedding in Visalia. I Unilocaled on my phone as we drove on the freeway and happily found this gem. It looks small from the outside, but actually has a pretty generous seating area. It’s a quick and cheap place and the server was very friendly. There are other things on the menu besides the philly cheesesteak, but why not try one of these if you’re in town? It’s an excellent meal that doesn’t leave you too stuffed to move, which I liked, as we had a wedding to attend immediately after we ate.

Sup, ya’ll?! It’s a damn shame I’m givin Philly’s a 3. This place used to be top notch! I remember back in high school, getting in debates with fools about the best burger in Visalia, this place was in the top… not anymore! They’ve gone through at least 3 different owners in the past 10 years and you could tell. The burgers aren’t as fresh, the cheesesteak isn’t cut the same… they over do it with their balsamic vinegar. Just a damn shame. But you know what ya’ll!!! Tyrod still gives this place a chance… a new thing Tyrod noticed was an outdoor sink to wash your hands. Soo nice! PS — Their Mushroom Burger still does it for me!
