Nice spot, but not my favorite in Kauai. My friend had the fish tacos and I had a fried Hawaiian pork burrito. We split each in half and shared. I was starving, so both of those two things tasted pretty good. Mine was served with rice and beans. We also started with chips and salsa, which were very satisfying too. It was not a cheap lunch. Almost 20 bucks for my large burrito. We had our own drinks with us, so that was just for the meal. Slightly overpriced, but good, filling meal. It *is* Hawaii though, and it ain’t cheap. I think over-all, food here is way more expensive than NYC. Good spot. Not a top pick, but definitely a solid choice when you’re hungry. You will leave full.

Their thick-cut tortilla chips were awesome! Cajun fish tacos were tasty and their homemade flour tortillas were good too. The tacos were different because it was like a mini stir fry in a taco — tuna, cabbage and rice were all mixed up and dumped into the tortilla. Different, but good! My husband said the wasabi fish taco only had a hint of wasabi. He expected more of a kick.

Debated between this place and Shrimp Station and decided to try this for the wasabi ahi taco, which totally hit the spot with big pieces of ahi in delicious aioli sauce. Loved the crispy chips and salsa as well. You order with the cashier and they bring the food to you. It’s a casual vibe here with outdoor seating where you can people watch, across the street is Shrimp Station which was packed as well but I’m glad I picked island taco!

After my 2 star review, the business owner contacted me, apologized, and offered another chance to review them and taste one of their tacos. He was polite, unlike most other businesses that have been extremely rude when I posted a 2 or 1 star review for them. So while my previous review still stands I’ll give them credit for professionalism and caring for their customers and business.

When I used to eat here in high school it was about $ 12 or $ 13 for a burrito. At the time we thought that was ridiculous. I went back recently and saw the prices had increased even MORE. I understand this is Kauai and everything here is expensive, but there is nothing about this place that makes a burrito worth $ 16. I wouldn’t order the burritos, the last two times I had one it was mostly plain rice. No seasoning, just plain old steamed white rice. It made the burrito way too heavy and mushy. I will admit that I do like their wasabi ahi taco salad which is definitely big enough to split between two(maybe even three) people and definitely in a more reasonable price range. This place really needs to learn better portion control. Everything I’ve ever eaten here has been MASSIVE. The portions are WAY too huge for any one person to eat alone so keep that in mind while ordering and maybe you won’t be wasting so much money on plain white rice. This place is definitely a tourist trap, and like most tourist traps I don’t think you pay for what you really get.

Kaua’i’s Mexican food scene is pretty exciting. I’ve been to two food trucks and Monoco’s restaurant so I was expecting a real authentic experience. I would say this place is more island style Mexican. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s just you can’t put wonton style strip chips on my plate and serve it with salsa and expect 5 stars from me. My mom and Aunty had fish tacos. They really liked them a lot, but there was a ton of cabbage and the presentation was pretty sloppy. They loved it! My Aunty commented on how yummy the grilled tortilla was. I had a Kalua pig/teriyaki chicken taco salad. Both meats had flavor that I’m not used to. Hard to explain. Not great but not inedible. The dressing that was served with the salad was pretty yummy though. And it looked gorgeous! Please keep in mind that one taco is enough for a whole meal. If you order more than one taco they still serve it with all those homemade flour tortilla strips(wonton style). This place wasn’t bad, and it hit the spot but it wasn’t amazing either. Probably won’t go back again.

Awesome Wasabi Ahi Tacos and a friendly staff. Outdoor relaxing break after visiting Waimea Canyon.
