This is a great place. I’ve been coming here for years. The cobbie is is my favorite. It’s smoked turkey, avocado, bacon, and lettuce. The owners are very nice and when it’s not busy, they like to get to know you. The soda selection is impressive for such a small shop. The sandwich and panini selections is pretty good too. Order prep is amazingly fast.

Good sandwiches. I had a Reuben. Pretty good(I needed a corned beef fix). Friendly staff and my sandwich was made pretty quick during lunch hour. It has limited inside seats but there is a lot of places to sit outside(under cover and open area). I’ll be coming back.

Good place to go, have a coffee and a nice sandwich… and ponder the actions of the SCOAMF down the street.

I’ve eaten here a few times and would gladly go back. I’ve always got the peppered turkey sandwich on either multigrain or another type of bread. I really like the Boar’s Head turkey they use(and I am very picky about meat). I usually get provolone cheese(which costs 50 cents extra) so the sandwich itself usually costs $ 6.80 or so. You can get as many other things as you like on the sandwich without extra charge — such as lettuce, sweet peppers, black olives, etc. It’s a yummy sandwich, and I like the fact they Ellipse also carries Honest Tea drinks, including the wonderful Pomegranate Blue. Service is usually good — I’ve never had a bad experience — they are quick to make sandwiches and are pleasant.

You can’t beat a good Boar’s Head sandwich when you’re hankering for one. This place does them right. The meats, cheeses, and breads are fresh and delicious. And they don’t skimp on the stuffing! My favorites are turkey bacon avocado, italian, and roast beef on hoagie bread.(not all 1 sandwich, fyi) The roast beef just melts in your mouth and is soft, no gristle. They have fresh veggies and ingredients for toppings. They also make various salads, and I was glad they don’t use iceberg lettuce! The coffee and breakfast sandwiches are also great. Everything is made to order. They sell a variety of snack items, drinks, and candy as well. This is a mom and pop shop, so I advocate supporting them amidst the big sandwich companies around them(Subway, Cosi, Potbelly).

A mom and pop place that does the basics well and with a smile. They use only Boar’s Head meats and are very willing to customize orders — I’m a fan of the turkey bagel sandwich. They accept credit card — unlike the EXPENSIVE and surly Café Phillips around the corner.

This store used to be around the corner on F Street. Its a small mom and pops business with really big downtown prices for mediocre food. There store used to be more like a convience store with sandwiches. Now they have moved into Liberty plaza with a new, modern look. They are in what was Baumgarden(custom stamps and stuff.) I went in the Ellipse Café about 30 min ago and thought I would give them another try since their menu looked different. I tried a Cobbie. Its smoked turkey with avacodo and bacon. Just as I suspected, the food isn’t any better than when they were around the corner. The avacodo is about as hard as rubber… they must freeze it .I have to throw it out becuase its not even edible. The shredded greens are actually browning. and they have ice in them… the sub roll is medicore. plain and cheap like its from CostCo. I think they are just trying to fool us again becuase they now have hardwood floors and fancy yellow walls… but they are not any better and now they sell even more snack crap… oh and the sandwich was $ 7…Philips Café would be jealous that I cheated on them today… never again. Its too bad they put all the money into moving and upgrading, becuase Philips Café is going to put them out of business with their amazing sandwiches.
