This place is a great local pizza joint with a good vibe, delicious brews, great service, and yummy pizza! Is it the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life? Probably not but that’s why I gave it four stars. The server was super friendly which always makes for a nice meal. We got one of the mushroom pies and it was delightful! The only bad thing was we forgot our leftovers!!!

Great pizza! The only reason I’m not giving it a 5 star review was due to the noise. They have a great craft beer selection that’s often updated with seasonal options. The staff is attentive and genuinely nice. I loved the place overall, just as I said, it is in this weird spectrum where it’s not exactly a party place but it’s too loud to have a genuine conversation(without screaming).

I’ve never ordered a pizza here, only the salads. But the chicken Caesar salad is damn delicious and comes in a bowl the size of a bike helmet. The place also has an extensive lists of beers on tap. I only give this place four stars because in my few times here, the service has been spotty. I can’t really blame this on the restaurant though. Even though some servers are great and some are aloof, the food is consistently good.

Favorite pizza. Crust is different than most places. Caviar will deliver it Funky, art-filled chain pizzeria featuring craft beer, calzones & creative stone-baked pizzas.

You’re food is horrible for me and so full of butter!!! Here’s the thing; Mellow, no one wants your crust. Stooopppp. I love your veg pizza. But the lack of delivery is distressing. So distressed

Holy Shitake, that hits the spot! I ordered the Holy Shiitake pizza, which has three types of mushrooms with caramelized onions, garlic aioli, and black truffle oil. Beware, stay away if you don’t like garlic. But If you want full umami flavor with that mouth-salivating earthy truffles and mushrooms, you must get this. The genius of the garlic aioli is that slightly creamy zing that gets highlighted, even with a generous sprinkling of garlic powder over the entire pizza. The caramelized onions were also beautifully cooked, richly brown and sweet. Last, but in no way the least, that dough is perfect for carb lovers. It’s so flavorful and ever so slightly chewy. I’ve been eating too much since Thanksgiving and fully intended to save half for dinner tomorrow… except somehow it all disappeared yet I am still salivating for more. My pants are too tight now but I’m not even sorry, it was THAT good. I’m so glad Mellow delivers via Caviar because I never make it out to Adams Morgan.

Finally… a place that has a vegan AND gluten free crust! Not only that– it tastes great! The veg out with Daiya was awesome. Lots of options for non pizza eaters too! Service is friendly and fast with a large spacious dining area and nice bar scene.

Things I want in a pizza: a flavorful crust with some doughy heft to it, inventive and plentiful toppings, generous amounts of well-melted cheese. Mellow Mushroom is the pizza of my dreams. Though this is a chain you’d probably never guess it. Each Mellow has it’s own personality and gets involved in community events. This past week I attended a terrarium making workshop and a clothing swap for charity at Mellow — both of which included generous amounts of delicious pizza. I was impressed that the staff recognized me from one evening to the other and it’s service like that really pushes Mellow over the edge. My favorite pie is the olive oil and garlic based Holy Shitake though I find that their pesto pizza tends to be a little too many competing flavors. Mellow also offers vegan cheese and a ton of toppings in case you want to stray from their recommended selections and make your own. I don’t really think there’s any way to go wrong here, enjoy!

Mmm… that dough, though. Big fan of the pretzels. Instead of ordering all savory or sweet, you can request a combination(even though it’s not on the menu). Great variety of seasonal and non seasonal beer selection. Mellow is also a great spot to host an event on the second floor. A friend hosted an open mic fundraiser here.

Mellow Mushroom, your pizza is disgusting. I ate at Mellow Mushroom when they first opened a few years ago. People were really excited about the chain and the large variety of beers. They were even giving out some cards that you get stamped for drinking beers. At that time I thought the pizza was OK, and the overal experience was OK. I visited MM again yesterday and order a simple basil pizza. The pizza was terrible and bland. The cheese and sauce had no flavor, and there was next to no basil on the pizza. The crust was OK, but didn’t make up for the fact that the pizza was nasty. It was kind of like a sad mix between NY style pizza and Chicago style pizza. But the combination fell flat and I’ll dub it the Ohio pizza, seeing that it’s in a horrible state in between the two cities.(get it??) The only reason I’m giving MM2 stars is because the service was great, and the employees were really nice, and they do have a «decent» variety of beer on tap. There were so many kids here as well. If this place had video games, it would have been a Chuck E Cheese. However, I’m tempted to think that Chuck E Cheese might have better pizza, and that’s not saying much. Maybe the other items on the menu are good, but avoid the pizza!

This place was AMAZING! Service: our server, Christin, had great personality and made great recommendations for both pizza and beer! She was prompt, attentive, and fun! Beer: The husband tried a house stout that he thought was full of flavor. I tried the Aleagash white beer and it had a fresh taste that was not overbearing! Pizza: we tired and loved the shiitake pizza and the house special(basically a supreme pizza on crack). Both were full of flavor and perfectly cooked! Atmosphere: we sat on their great little patio but their open air bar area would have been great too! Good background music(Keith sweat) put us in the mood to just chill out! We can’t wait to return and being friends to experience this great pizza joint in Adams Morgan.

Stopped up to the rooftop to have a beer during Adams Morgan day, and to catch a little bit of the game. Upon entering the roof the bar was not busy but the 8 or so seats at the small bar were taken so we opted to sit behind the bar and the few seats so we could watch the game. after hanging out for about 5 minutes and the bartender not coming over I went up to the bar to order. Seems logical right? After i was basically ignored(literally ignored– i am in the industry i know how this goes) the Gum chewing bartender– short hair– tattooed lady– finally came over after i was standing there for 10 minutes only to tell me she was out of the beer i asked for and«doesn’t make recommendations for an alternate» OK. Service makes your bar the place to go. This lady is negative energy and a horrible people person. There are so many other places on 18th– go to ANY other place.

In general, I like it when people try to do great and come up short, as opposed to aiming for mediocrity and succeeding. I’ve been to Mellow Mushroom a couple of times and it seems like the former. The prime location in Adams Morgan and the multilevel space are impressive, though they run music a bit loud for my taste. Their culture is evident in the service they provide; some colorful characters work there and they are pretty mellow. But as others have opined, I think that’s kind of the problem. Their menu is wide and offers something for everyone; plenty of vegan offerings for the vegan group I went with most recently, and they were game for what for them must be a difficult task for them. But every time I’ve been here, they do seem to confuse something about the order. They were very kind about getting it fixed, but the error rate is a tad concerning. And all those options are fine and good, but by no means great. I was fairly enamored with their tempeh, though; not an easy to find offering. To me, Mellow Mushroom an easy option to get people to agree on, but I don’t think it’s in the upper echelon of DC’s pizza scene(or even the best pizza for people who can’t eat the stuff in normal pizza).

Mellow mushroom is underrated in DC. I am from another state and this is our goto pizza place. Their combinations are unique and delicious. The crust is also sweet and to die for! I always get honey on the side to dip it in. Pizza slices are big and filling. Normally my mom and I come and split a pizza and salad and take home the left over slices. This restaurant is large and you never have to wait too long. Service is great and always comical. The best part about this location is the patio! This place is awesome, even if you just go to sit outside, beautiful summer spot! The thai die or mushroom pizza are my faves :) although you can’t go wrong!

Whenever I go somewhere more southern than NJ/PA, I open up my Unilocal app and see if there is a Mellow Mushroom anywhere nearby. And when I was recently in DC– I was lucky enough to be located just 3 miles away! You know I hoped in an Über and headed on over. Each Mellow Mushroom I have been to so far has been very unique and totally different than the last, and this location was no different. This Mellow Mushroom had a much more swanky vibe, offering dark lighting, big booths, outside eating and even an upstairs bar. I was with a group of 6 and we were seated right away in a big booth right next to the kitchen. Our waitress was great, and our meals came out quick and hot! I split a medium pizza with my boyfriend — we combined the Funky Q Chicken and the Red Skin Potato Pie. Of course, they were both delicious. Everything else on the menu looks delicious as well, but I just love the pizza crust too much I don’t think I’ll ever order anything else. Mellow Mushroom– can you PLEASE come to New Jersey? We need you.

When my girlfriend awakens from a deep sleep and mumbles about Mellow Mushroom, I roll my eyes. When my girlfriend texts and emails me links about the cost of opening a Mellow Mushroom, I roll my eyes. When my girlfriend says that we should make sure our next vacation has a Mellow Mushroom nearby, I roll my eyes, this time patting her on the back, «Of course we will.» I did have Mellow Mushroom once before, although that visit was spent just north of Atlanta. I thought the food was pretty good, but that location seemed more about the vibe than its cuisine. DC’s location however cranked out some fantastic pizza. The crowd was bigger, but the service was much nicer and 10x faster. I’m trying to remember what exactly I had, but all I can remember is how I should have listened to my girlfriend in the first place :/ The only expensive things on the menu, in my opinion, are the drink options. This comes with an easy fix; eating more pizza and allowing no room for liquids. Not only is it economical, but also philosophical. Search pizza on any social media site, and you get the most thought-provoking quotes ever. Mellow Mushroom is describable by all of them. And while I’m here, I’d like to encourage a push to get them to come North! New Jersey could certainly use more pizza and a lot less MTV and Jersey Shore. After all, Mushroom is better than Smushroom.

My vegan boyfriend: «This is the best pizza I’ve ever had.» And how. Vegan and non-vegan options have pillowy, golden, buttery crust(even if you ask for the non-buttered option). Toppings are plentiful, combinations are fun, names are punny(«Thai Dye»). Beer selection is excellent. Servers are friendly. Pricey? Ehhhh, a little, especially the vegan cheese, but sometimes splurging is worth it. …as a matter of fact, I think I’ll go eat my leftovers.

Offering some of the only California-style pizza in DC, Mellow Mushroom excels at providing pies with a plethora of colorful and unusual toppings. For example, both the multi-mushroom and garlic pie with white sauce and the curry cauliflower pie are both delicious, and not offered elsewhere. The basics, like the cheese and pepperoni pizzas, are well executed as well. The large pizzas probably serve 3 – 5, depending on how hungry the members of your party are. This location is particularly with visiting in the spring and summer when the outdoor spaces, including the large seating area, provide patrons a space to spread out and enjoy the sun as well as the view of the rest of the Adams Morgan area. Each level of the restaurant has its own bar, meaning that while it’s generally a good idea to order your pizza quickly, feel free to take your time figuring out what you’d prefer to drink. And Mellow Mushroom boasts a reasonable selection of drinks.

Hard to find, good luck finding parking due(we Lyft’d there). Very dark, seating was very prompt. Our waiter was some dude who drew on our napkins and had a kickass Instagram account, but also was a badical waiter(Steve). Brother and I ordered the Bruschetta appetizer, which was amazing. We then had the Maui Wowie pizza which above all things included bacon and jerk chicken. Crust was awesome, so was the pizza. The 20’s something Capitol intern squad then came in, took over, told old college frat and sorority stories that were so loud we couldn’t have a conversation without yelling at each other. Bill was decent, a tad high, but that’s what you get in D.C. for good food. Overall it was an awesome experience.
