I went because it’s the closest hot/cold bar to my work. I would’ve skipped this placed based on the Unilocal review, but having stopped in, it really isn’t that bad. Okay, it was kind of dead inside at 1pm, I guess this is post-lunch buzz. The hot bar was rather sparse. I had to admit though, for a hot bar with low turnover, the food actually tasted somewhat decent. I was really shocked that the orange chicken used real white breast meat, and not dark meat that’s always used. The vegetables were not overcooked(perhaps a little under), which was fine by me. I like a little snap to my green beans. The potatoes were surprisingly well seasoned. The zinger? All of their hot items are pretty dense, which makes your overall weight add up pretty quick. Unless you’re really craving chinese, which you can get just a few blocks up at Chinatown, I’d skip the hot bar, and go with a sandwich offering.

Salright. The turkey wrap I got was kind of weird, but they did have a good-sounding selection of various hot sandwiches and a Chinese buffet type thing. The staff were super friendly.

I hate reviews that begin with what a restaurant isn’t, but in this case I’ll make an exception. :) Skyline is not Soho Café & Market(which itself is not a «real» NYC hot/cold buffet place, but that’s another review). It’s less, in most ways: less variety, less quality, less quantity. But for the most part, the food is fresh. Some of the hot entrees, especially after 1 pm, can be on the dry side. But the salads stand up and are dressed nicely, and I enjoy their spicy tofu triangles. The sushi is below-supermarket quality(which is, sad to say, quite low), dry and full of stuffing rather than good ingredients. Other than that, it’s a somewhat-decent option if you’re in the area, in a rush, and can’t quite decide what you want for lunch. Between 2 and 3 stars.

I have gone here a few times for lunch now and eaten off their hot and cold bars. The food is alright, nothing stellar. I have found that on the hot bar most of the meat is really tough. I do love their sushi though, freshly prepared and just right. I have become a regular here for the sandwiches and stuff off the grill. I am in love with their tuna salad, just right not too mayo-y and the guys behind the counter can really burn it up.
