The food varies from good to average. It’s not consistent and either is the attitude of the owner or his staff. Be careful where you park as they assume no responsibility for damages on their lot. They recently had issues with the State of NY and I’m not sure how this was resolved or if it was resolved. The owner spends most of his time on the gold course rather than running his business.

Certainly one of the top Italian spots in the Hamptons, Robert’s serves high quality food in a very quaint setting. Indoor seating can be on the louder side, although it is a fun atmosphere. They also have a nice deck if you would prefer a quieter ambiance. The bread they serve at the beginning of the meal is great — warm and soft. We started off with an excellent Burrata appetizer and split the pot roast and rigatoni for our main course. The pot roast was good not great, but the rigatoni was superb. Perfectly al dente pasta with braised lamb and beef that had great flavor. Definitely worth coming back for that dish. We had the seasonal pie(blueberry) for dessert — the pie was tasty and came with a great homemade whipped cream. The triple chocolate mousse cake was even better — rich and dark.

We were so looking forward to our return to Robert’s this season. Unfortunately, it did not live up to our expectations. The service started out okay, but as soon as our entrees were delivered, the server disappeared; although, the other tables seemed to be getting attention. The service wasn’t the only disappointment. The fresh fish of the day was dry and flavorless. It came out so fast that we’re wondering if it was microwaved. The grilled vegetable side was just so boring. I remember this restaurant serving amazing vegetable dishes. Even the biscotti seems to have lost its luster. We didn’t eat half of our food(hoping we can do something with it at home). No one in the restaurant seemed to notice/care. This is an expensive restaurant that seemed worth it in the past, but not so much anymore. Hopefully, tonight was just an off night.

Now let me be frank about me and my taste buds. I an be the b-itch of all b-itches about food and restaurants. But from the bottom of my heart and stretching the limits of my thanksgiving I had the best pear and walnuts in butter lettuce salad I have ever eaten. Rigatoni Bolognese was as good as my stomach ever processed. Since it was my birthday(don’t ask, don’t tell which one) I had coconut cake slathered on yummy whip cream. Ice tea tasted as good as Granny’s. Some man also celebrating his birthday March 6 as well tried to send my table a bottle of Cristal, but we refused since we don’t drink. Robert’s is harder to get into than the gates of Heaven. Om. Tat. Sat. OM.

It was a birthday celebration. The food was incredible — every dish of each of the three courses was perfect. The ambiance, the service, the building were only surpassed by the kitchen’s amazing magic. Ask Robert what to eat and listen to his wonderful culinary word-smithing which will make your mouth water and cause you to want everything he mentions. And it’s all as good as it gets. Try Robert’s in Water Mill, the best restaurant in the Hamptons.

I am sitting in Robert ’ s after having the most pleasant dinner experience I, very had in quite some time. I ordered the prosciutto and melon and the strip steak which were both excellent .The service was very attentive and special — an enjoyable evening for the ten of us who attended. They get an A for bread and for the entire experience. Good job.

Used to be one of my all time favorite places in the Hamptons. Tonight’s experience reversed that. There were two very loud and rude tables and apparently they were cozy with the staff because they were completely indifferent to our needs. The host actually said to me «it’ll be quieter when they leave»! As if my friends and I were supposed to wait for them to eat and leave in order to be able to hear each other. Never going back.

My partner and I went to Robert’s to celebrate our anniversary. Service was exceptional. Christian, our waiter was fun and attentive. The food was a little bit less sophisticated than expected, but it was good comfort food.

Lovely evening in an inviting quietly rustic dining room. Soft music, warm glow of candlelight and the understated décor was transporting. Service was attentive from the moment I made the dinner reservation. The food was also very good. It was not over the top but well prepared. We especially enjoyed the tagliatelle with truffles, most delicious and flavorful. This made for strong competition for the entrees. We had the tuna, scallops and sea bass. All three were solid, although it was a mystery why the potato pancake was left to get soggy under the bass. I look forward to returning in the cooler months when the dining room should be even more appealing.

«oh u muuuust go to Roberts is so good». Uhm. Maybe not. Nice setting, we sat outside but inside looked v nice. Service was way too ingratiating. And guess what all the food is brilliant. Menu was uninspiring. Standard Italian fare. Did it taste good. Ok. Veal Milanese was ok, arugula was nice but swamped the veal and made the breadcrumbs soft rather than crisp. Flounder fried in an almond crust sounded good but was just like the Milanese. Deserts were nice although the nougat was well nougat. Didn’t live up to the hype.

Very good restaurant, but perhaps my expectations were set too high. The décor and service are very nice. Other than the creamy polenta side dish, none of the food wowed me. The truffle pasta was light on the truffles and heavy on the truffle oil. The tuna was good, but no better than most other restaurants and the artichokes were a little heavy on the marinade. I was wowed when I realized that the slice of peach blueberry pie that the waiter recommend was $ 18 a slice. With that being said, I will return to Robert’s for another meal although, I am not in a hurry to do so.

ONEOFTHEBESTPLACESINTHEHAMPTONS This is a «real restaurant», great service, great food, cozy atmosphere. They get it all right. We have been going here for years, and have always been taken care of… reservations are always honored with little wait, food is always fresh, and service is always professional. The only negative I can say is that they don’t change the menu often enough, and the bar area is very small, so if you have to wait for your table, there is sometimes no place to hang out.

Robert’s is a must go if you are in the Hamptons. It is a quaint little restaurant with great ambiance, classy dark wood décor, and charming staff, with attentive, friendly service. The chef, Natalie Byrnes knows what she’s doing. The food is well prepared and the focus is the quality of ingredients. We came for dinner and here is what we had: *Tomato salad with fresh burrata, grilled slices of bread, basil and balsamic. This dish was delicious, the tomatoes were fresh and sweet and the burrata was creamy and went so well with the grilled bread. * Grilled calamari on a bed of arugula. Another amazing dish, so simple but so well executed. The calamari was tender, with a spicy jalapeño rub and a citrusy dressing. * Seared rare tuna with a sesame crust, with a fennel salad and caper berries. Melt in your mouth tuna, so good! * Fresh tagliatele with black summer truffles and parmesan. I think this was my favorite dish. * Slow cooked lamb with vegetables. Another great dish, with fall off the bone pieces of lamb with a tomato-vegetable sauce. *dessert was a pistachio nougat. It was perfect to finish the meal. Light, with little bits of praline. Everything was solid, well made, fresh and delicious.

Not sure why it took me so long to write this review, i’ve been dinning at Robert’s for years and by far and away this is the BEST restaurant in the Hamptons! I can’t say enough about the quality and preparation of the food. In the winter it’s warm and cozy inside and you can’t beat eating outside in their garden in the summer!

Wonderful, creative food, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. The service(from the wait staff) was friendly and helpful, with any requests being taken care of very quickly. Chesley, our waiter, was particularly welcoming. Unfortunately, our entire experience was ruined by the extremely rude maitre d’ who was snotty, sarcastic and lacks any sense of etiquette. Robert Durkin should replace her immediately or risk losing any future return business altogether. I would have happily rated this restaurant as a solid 5* if it wasn’t for her impertinence. Had it not been for the fact that we were entertaining guests, we would have gotten up and left. This may seem a little harsh but the experience of eating out is just that, an experience, and does not solely rely on the quality of the food. Having eaten at many top restaurants on 5 continents around the world, I have NEVER been spoken to as rudely. The grudging, empty, attempt at an apology after the meal only served to exacerbate the problem.

Yes, I am beginning to enjoy exploring small but wonderful places like Robert’s on the south fork, near my neighborhood. The ambience is sublime, and each dish, each course, more fantastic and delectable than the first. We tried as much as we could in two visits. The service was professional and courteous, and above all, knowledgeable. The wine recommendation paired beautifully with our grilled shrimp and salmon, roasted asparagus, and the polenta so creamy, we wanted to order more. Can’t wait to visit again!
